A lie

He was not expecting this. After travelling in the forest for the last three weeks alone with brief stops to the occasional village he had no contact with anything alive but mountain wolves, which of course couldn't ask what his name was. Panicking he said the cursed word, the word that is the reason he was here in the first place. "King". The tavern keeper was shocked, it was treason name a child after a noble or king for it was seen as a attempt to say you were of noble heritage which 'king' was not but the same as saying he will be king, and naming a child was done in a registration hall in major cities because only major cities had hospitals so either the lad had lied and poorly at that or wasn't registered in the kingdom, the tavern keeper thought to himself. Before he hurried away desperate to get away after he was given a key to room and promised that a bath would be heated for him and some information about where he was, he bumped into a man and for a second an massive fire blinked into his' vision but almost as quickly fled, he then ran trying to get to his room and left the man staring at him.

Getting out of the bath he looked at himself. His time in the wilderness had just started to starve him, when leaving he still had baby fat on his face and stomach but his time wandering around in the forest had left him slightly underweight to the extent his ribs were showing. His face down sharp and cheeks shallow making him looking like a beggar from 'there' he thought he distaste. After dressing in his only clothes. Pants and long sleeve shirt that was once white but now a dull gray due to the dirt and sweat from his treks in the last few weeks and a hunting jacket made from a rare elemental white deer. Dyed Brown on the outside to blend in the dark oak tree forest from the traders homeland which was interesting here in this kingdom, the inside was softer than a king's pillow and still white, but expertly made and so not a hint of white could be seen. It was his second most worth item he had at 100 gold. Walking to his supplies king took his lucky flint and went to light a fire in the fireplace he had a sudden urge to… well he didn't know what but it was but fought it off as he believed only evil would happen if he open himself up to the temptation. Shaking himself he took a ring off his finger and held it to his chest, the ring had a crest on it looking like a fourteen-side compass with each end a symbol and in the middle was a symbol of harmony. The unusual thing about the ring that the symbols glowed, the harmony symbol always glow when he wore it but one of the other symbols was also glowing, it was which he guess was supposed to look like fire was glowing and not just the pale silver and gold of the infinity but a bright red which king could use as a torch he thought to himself than said aloud "on that day you appeared and not ever have you glowed like this, what are you trying to tell me? Well no matter if that keeper was telling the truth we will reach Khaumridge the day after tomorrow on foot if we keep to the road and I can sell you for a small kingdom's worth of gold". King was speaking the truth about his most worth item. If only the tavern keeper wasn't listening on the other side of the door...
