14 Scene 13 : Adney

Lilian spent the night sitting absent-mindedly in bed. She made no progress at all. Today she met Arthur three times, and Arthur also threw her out three times.

If she followed her heart, Lilian felt like slapping his cold face. To be honest, what was she trying so hard for? No awards would be received. She did not know whether this would be commensurate with the end result she wanted to achieve.

Lilian avoided the path that caused her to coup her family. Shouldn't that have saved her from the written end? She wouldn't need to take Arthur's heart anymore, right? The more Lilian thought, the more her brain clogged. Lilian laid her tired body and mind. She must stop thinking about it and face what in plain sight.

-------

Today, the second test day. From the first written test, only five people failed to proceed to the next stage. Lilian gazed at each of her friends who passed the test. There were twenty-five people including herself.

Ten people on the original list were also there. Lilian had to get rid one of the ten people.

"Congratulations to the participants who passed the first test. For the second test, we will do a sword fighting. You will be drawn in pairs and fight one on one. Since your number is odd, one person will immediately pass to the next test."

The participants eyes who were all male immediately fixed on Lilian. They believed that the free pass would be fall into Lilian's hands. But Lilian did not think so. In war and love, all variables could be possibilities.

Arthur who kept pushing her away was clearly not in favorable condition to give her privilege. And one person who said he would make her pass was seen arguing with their captain.

Lilian looked at Michael, who was talking...and sulking to Arthur.

Ah ... Lilian should have known what he said last time was just gibberish. He stood next to Arthur with a very ugly expression.

Although Lilian certainly that Michael knew she was staring at him, the man avoided her gaze.

"The rules this time are simple. Anyone whose their lower body, butt or knee touches the ground first, will automatically be eliminated." Logan continued his announcement. "Now, each of you take your lottery paper."

Logan pointed to the table in front of him. Marianne stood beside the table as a companion. They advanced one by one to take the envelopes that lined up there.

Lilian waited her turn by praying, hoping that she could get that free ticket. But she knew her prayers were in vain because before she had a chance to choose the envelope, there was someone who was shouting with delight.

"Ow, yosh! I got it!"

The sound of disappointment buzzing in all directions. It turned out that not only Lilian who was expecting the golden ticket. She heard other people talked behind her back.

"What a pity."

"No, wait. There's actually one more."

"Is it true?"

"Of course, anyone who fights Miss Lesnerg, I'm sure will easily pass. She is a woman, after all."

Lilian swore in her heart. Just because she was the only woman, they underestimated her. Since the free pass tickets were gone, everyone was targeting Lillian.

"Oh Lady Lilian!" Marianne called her when she had chosen the envelope and was about to leave her place.

Lilian stopped. "Miss Epheryl, did you call me?" she asked reluctantly.

"I just want to be sure. Are you OK?"

Lilian narrowed her eyes. "You mean?"

"With today's test...I think you should back off, I will try to talk to Arthur to find another way so you can still participate—"

"With all due respect, Miss Epheryl, you don't have to do it or worry about me."

Whether Lilian's annoyed voice was too obvious or not, it made Marianne fall silent. Lilian immediately left from there and prepared herself.

Everyone had the right to choose the self-defense equipment provided by the division. Tools that were usually used this time were made of blunt objects.

Lilian took a wooden sword like the others and waited for her turn. Michael kept pestering Arthur. He wanted to get the free pass for Lilian but failed.

"Did you want to see your sister get hurt?"

This time Michael tried to shake Arthur's love and compassion for his family.

"Look, how a delicate girl like her raises a sword. She will definitely fall with just one blow."

Arthur followed Michael's direction. His younger sister was standing waiting her turn by swinging a wooden sword in her hand. As a woman, her sister was clearly in a disadvantageous position. However, Arthur could not take her side just because she was his younger sister.

"If she fail here, then that is a good way for her." Arthur took a glance from Lilian and resumed taking the test that would begin, leaving Michael scowling.

Lilian watched the schoolgirl version of the gladiator displayed before her. She watched some people with satisfied expressions while others with upset or angry face because they lost.

She needed to rack her brain to escape this stage. When it came to strength, it was clear that with this body she wouldn't win against them. That way she need another strategy to win the fight.

Lilian paid attention to the few remaining candidates as her opponents. Colin had already passed so she couldn't possibly target him.

Among them, there are four people left from the list to qualify. Lilian straightened up. Their total was 24 people with one person confirmed to have passed.

That means, there will be 12 people passing this test. With 7 people according to the list, then she must put herself in the remaining 5 people to qualify this time.

Lilian gripped her wooden sword firmly when her name was called into the center of the arena.

'Let's hope my opponent isn't one of the original participants.'

She still had a chance if he didn't fight them. Some people she knew through the description, but only one or two people who have interactions with her. After Lilian's number was called, they named her opponent.

A boy with a long silver hair neatly tied at the back came forward. Lilian smiled broadly. She recognized him from the Count family.

"Sir Adney, I think this is our first time talking each other." Lilian still keeping her smile, bent slightly.

Adney Grissham without covering his surprise, bowed his body. "It's an honor that you know my name, Milady."

"Before we begin, I want to know why you want to join this division, can you please tell me?" Lilian quickly continued her conversation.
