Chapter-2

Lia woke up from the sirens of the police cars. She sleepily opened her eyes and went to see what was going on. Her eyes were no more sleepy, as she realized what was going on. She ran down the stairs and went to see what was going on. Lia saw Kaitlyn and went to ask what was happening.

"This morning some people found a corpse in the third alley." Lia was shocked at Kaitlyn's words.

This was the first time, something like this happened in their neighbourhood. Loa didn't knew how to react at this. She simply said a "Oh". The police was interrogating the people. Soon after one police came to interrogate Lia.

"Where were you last night, between 6 to 11?" The police man asked.

"What's going on?" A sleepy Natasha came scratching the back of her neck.

"I will explain to you later." Natasha nodded.

"So?" Lia and Natasha turned their attention towards the officer.

" So, I finished my part time job at 6:30 pm, then hanged out with her till 8:30, then we decided that we should have a sleepover at my house and returned home at 9 o'clock." She stopped as she tried to remember something.

" Then? " The officer asked simultaneously writing every detail.

"Then what we slept." Natasha said innocently, not even getting the slightest idea, why they were being interrogated.

"Wait." Lia said in a low voice, loud for them to hear.

"You remembered something?" The officer asked.

" I don't know if it will be useful to you or not."

"Even the slightest clue will help us. Speak without fear."

" Yesterday when we were returning home, I saw a person, looking quite familiar yet suspicious, I didn't saw his face as it was very dark there and don't even know if that person was a male or a female. " The officer nodded and wrote everything she said.

The officer said Thank You and if in any case, she remembers or sees, he told her to inform him immediately. She nodded. He gave her his phone number for any emergency.

When the officer went Natasha asked what happened. Lia explained her everything. Natasha gasped in fear. There was bit of silence untill.

"Lia pack your things. Now!" Lia choked on her drink at Natasha's outburst.

"W..why?"

"This place isn't that safe now. And we don't know the future. So it's better if you stay with me. "

" Don't worry nothing will happen. "

" Will you give me the guarantee? " Natasha challenged her as she kept her hands on her hips.

This continued for like 5 minutes. Both were equally stubborn.

"Okay. So, you sure you will be able to live alone?" Natasha asked her with concerned eyes. Lia nodded with a 'don't-worry-about-me'. Natasha sighed at her defeat while Lia gave a cheeky smile.

"Pinky promise?" Natasha asked as she forwarded her pinky. Lia smiled and nodded.

Natasha went as it was time for her part time job. Lia was doing household chores, as it was her day off. Someone rang the doorbell. Lia opened the door.

"Hey Kaitlyn!"

"Hey!"

"What brought you here?"

"Just came to know how you were doing."

"Oh." Lia smiled.

" So, you live here alone?" Kaitlyn asked looking around.

" Hmm." Lia said in a small voice.

"Your parents?"

"Mom went missing when I was 14 and I don't know who my father is." Lia sighed.

" Oh.. I am sorry, I didn't mean to-"

" No it's fine. You don't have to be sorry." Lia smiled.

" Are you free today?" Kaitlyn asked after some time. Lia nodded.

" You have plans today?" Lia said no.

"How about hanging out today?" Kaitlyn asked brightly.

" Sounds good." Lia winked.

"Will that friend of yours also free today?"

"I don't know. I will let you know."

" Hmm. Meet you later." Kaitlyn said.

" Yo, woman! Why did you called? Are you okay? Breathing? Alive? "

" Yo, woman! I am alive. Just called you to ask if you have any more work today? "

"Yeah. Still have two more. "

" Oh."

" Why anyway? "

" Oh, Kaitlyn told me if I could out with her today and asked me if you could join too. "

" Oh, sorry man. "

" I understand. Bye. "

" Okie bye. "

Twilight was about to appear. Kaitlyn and Lia were walking down the river. Enjoying the weather. Both didn't spoke to each other. It was a strange silence but not the awkward one.

"So?" Kaitlyn started. Lia looked at her.

"Mind me if I ask something? "

" Go ahead. "

" Didn't you tried to find for your father? "

" I don't know if I should. "

" Hmm. "

" What about you? "

" Me? " Kaitlyn looked at her.

" Hmm. You know about me but I don't know about you." Lia said.

" Uh." Kaitlyn gave a small laugh.

" What was funny? "

" Nothing."

"Then?"

"Nothing. You know you are quite lucky."

" Huh, how?" Lia raised an eyebrow.

" At least you got to see your mother, even though you don't know who your father is." Kaitlyn looked down and sighed.

Lia's heart broke. She shouldn't have asked that. At that moment she knew she was not the only one going through this.

"I don't know who my parents are. I grew up in my maternal uncle's house. He was a very big drunkard. He always abused me." A tear escaped her eyes. Lia's eyes became moist.

"I am sorry." Lia said giving Kaitlyn a hug.

"No you don't have to." Kaitlyn said as they broke the hug. Lia just smiled.

"Let me buy a water bottle for you." Lia offered. Kaitlyn nodded.

After few minutes when Lia returned with the water, she saw Kaitlyn was not there. She ran up to the alley. As she turned the corner. Her eyes wide opened at the scene in front of her.
