Beri was silently staring at the information in front of him. He began trying to process it.

'What the hell is a Kernel Mage? It seems that my cheat ability has been delivered..'

Beri was in a panic since having a unique class might make him a target of someone's greed if he were to speak openly about his powers.

Greed was universal and having worked in the tech industry, backstabbing and betrayals were common.

"I am a Mage, Apparently," Beri said to Sari.

He was hoping that she would not question him further. He would have to research this unique class of his when he had some time.

"Really!!?! Are you a mage? That's so cool! They are super rare!" Sari's eyes widened as if she had met her favorite idol for the first time.

Beri looked back at the floating terminal in front of him. He had decided that some experimentation was in order.

After some thought, he began entering the standard commands present on most modern computers back in his world.

First, he entered the command 'help' to see if he could gather any clues on this mysterious power.

After a few seconds, a couple of rows of text appeared before him. However, he was slightly disappointed.

Outside of the 'Status' command, most of the other ones were standard navigation commands.

Such as 'cd,' which stood for 'Change Directory.' This command allowed him to change which folder he was executing commands in.

But one command which stood out to him was the 'Cast' cast command.

'Magic wouldn't be so easy to be a single command away. Right?' Beri thought.

As Beri entered the command into the terminal and hit the imaginary enter key, he received an error message, and nothing else happened.

'Cast requires an additional argument...' It said.

It appears that he had to specify what he wanted to cast. But before trying to cast anything, Beri entered the 'Cast' command again, but this time, he added the 'Help' command to the end.

As he entered the command, new text replaced the error message from his previous attempt.

'To use the Cast command, please specify which spell the administrator wished to cast. Example: {Cast -spell spells/light.spell}'

When Beri read the helpful message, he noticed that the spell cast in the example seemed to work like executing code on a normal computer terminal. It even seemed that the spells had their programming language and file type similar to the computers in his original world.

After thoroughly reading the text in his terminal Beri once again entered the 'Cast' command into the terminal. This time he completely copied the example from the 'Help' Command, which he had previously entered.

As he finally hit enter on his imaginary keyboard. A small dot of light appeared in the palm of his right hand. Slowly it grew in until it was the size of an apple.

The light was power full and completely lit the environment underneath the enormous tree. The light was harsh, much like a completely white LED bulb.

"Wow! So cool, Brother Beri! You really are a mage!" Sari seemed even more excited than Beri as she jumped around while she looked at the apple-sized ball of light that had appeared before her.

Beri was stunned as he looked back at the terminal. Beri noticed a new message had been displayed on the terminal.

[=========-] 9/10 Mana Remaining

This small spell had used 10 percent of his total power.

After executing another command stopping the spell Ivan began to explore the various folders of his terminal.

Although he didn't know what he was expecting, all he could find was a Folder called Spells, in which he found another folder called Examples. In this folder, Beri found the 'Light' spell he had just cast as well as another spell called 'Fire Bolt.'

While beri was exploring his newfound powers, he had neglected to keep an eye on his surroundings. And it would seem that more than just him and Sari were curious about the sudden appearance of bright light.

"Brother Beri! Something is coming towards us!" Sari said as she crouched into the tall grass and almost perfectly disappeared.

'Are you sure you are an archer and not a thief' Beri questioned in his mind before looking in the same direction as Sari.

As he lifted his gaze, Beri's eyes were met with that of what appeared to be a wild dog of some sort. Its bloodthirsty gaze looked with Beri's, and it began to charge him.

Before Beri could react, Sari jumped into action and started running towards it.

Beri started to look through his files in a frenzy, only to remember he just had two beginner spells.

Beri, same as before, began to enter the 'Cast' command in his terminal. But this time, he replaced the 'light' spell with 'fire bolt'.

Just as he finished typing out his command, Sari had come into contact with the beast.

Fearing for her safety Beri Called out.

"Sari! Jump to the side. I'm going to cast a spell!" Right then, Sari Jumped As far as she could and hid behind a large boulder nearby.

Before it could even react, Beri's command had been processed, and before him appeared a ball of flames.

As the fire hovered before him Beri imagined a trajectory in his mind and sent the ball of flames flying.

When the now football-sized flame hit the creature, a small explosion occurred, and the beast was thrown 3 meters backward.

The little fur that remained was burnt, and the unmistakable smell of burnt hair was in the air.

Looking back at the terminal in front of him, a familiar prompt had appeared in the terminal.

[====------] 4/10 Mana Remaining

'One spell alone took half of my mana!!?!?!?' Beri screamed in his mind. It seemed that he needed to conserve his power a little better.

'5 Experience Gained!'

Just a few seconds later, an unfamiliar message appeared below the mana meter.

'At least it died from that attack' Beri felt relieved. Although he never really felt in danger. This was his first real fight ever, and it had taken a small tole on his mind.

"Wow! Brother Beri! Your magic is so powerful!" Sari sprinted towards the smoldering corspe.

Poking at it, Sari just stared in amazement at the burnt corpse.

"Ha! this Brother is going to be much more powerful full in the future. You wait!" Beri said, not wanting his previously scared state to show through.

Looking back, he entered the 'Status' command again.

Satisfied with this development, Beri almost wanted to lure more dogs here. But he remembered his lack of mana and pushed the idea to the back of his mind.

Beri walked towards the corpse of the beast and saw that Sari had taken out a dagger from someplace and had begun to butcher the dog-like creature.

"Can we really eat that?" Beri asked cautiously. Beri had heard of cultures which consumed dog and found it to be alarming.

Sari looked up towards Beri and said.

"Of course we can! It doesn't taste as bad as it smells. But what's most important is the Mana Crytal" As Sari said this, she pulled out her hand from within the beast's stomach and proudly displayed a small sphere.

It had a muddly crimson color. The gem-like stone seemed to be full of imperfections and dirt. Whilst at the same time seemingly gave off some sort of powerful force.

Taking the stone from the Sari, Beri began to inspect it closely.

When she was done butchering the meat, Sari stood up and looked at Beri.

"Do you want to come to my place? We can cook the meat!" Sari asked as she lifted what seemed to be a substantial amount of weight for an eleven-year-old.

"Sure, why not. Let's have a feast!" Beri said as he began to follow Sari through the forest.
