8 Chapter 8- Death, Immortality and Revival

"Arthur what can you tell me about the original owner of my body?"

{Arthur's soul was engulfed by yours so most of the memories were lost just some superficial memories remained which I could harvest from your soul and record them down. According to those memories, Arthur was an orphan and a beggar. Improper food intake is the reason for this thin body and weak muscle development. The war was a good way to earn wages so he joined the battlefield in exchange for full meals 2 times a day. This was also his first experience on a battlefield. According to his bone structure, he was around 3 months short of 16 years of age.}

"Hmmm, he was an orphan too... So what can you tell me about you, Arthur?"

But basic features like analysis, recording and computing are still present. I also gained some new features due to the soul that I have gained like judgment and recommendations.}

"So you are a very advanced AI?"

{No I am something much superior to an AI. I have a soul, the difference between me and an AI is like the difference between a human and an ape. I request you do not compare.}

"My bad. So you said that according to bone structure my age is around 16 years right..... So you can scan my body?"

{Yes. Not only can I scan your body but also your current body condition as well as your body status in comparison to the body status of an average male of the same age or an adult male body. I can also give you recommendations and solutions based on your current body conditions.}

Oliver could see and hear all this information in his brain as if someone spoke directly into his mind. "What are all these stats and numbers? Isn't this too cliche that you are presenting my stats like some game character? What do they indicate?" asked Oliver.

{These are your body conditions and status in numerical value compared to an average male of your age.}

{The reason to be presented like this is because according to your memories this would be the most viable way for you to understand as you don't have appropriate knowledge regarding the field of medicine. "Oh I understand what does strength, agility and intelligence means but what does awareness, vitality and soul mean?" said Oliver with a gloomy expression as he was reminded of his best friend.

{Even stats like strength and agility are not as simple as you presume. The most basic stat Strength doesn't just mean how much weight you can pick up its a combination of the muscle development throughout your body and endurance of your body}

{For agility its a combination of core stability, lateral and rotational power, acceleration and deacceleration and some minor reflexes}

{For Intelligence it is much more complicated, it is an accumulation of logic, understanding, self-awareness, learning, emotional knowledge, reasoning, planning, creativity, critical thinking and some minor reflexes}

{As for awareness it's divided into many parts like physical awareness, mental awareness, emotional awareness, special awareness and your control over them. Most of the reflex actions are also under your awareness stat.}

{Vitality means how fast your body can recover. How fast can your body heal physical wounds or how good your immune system is or how fast your pupils recovers in a bright flash of light to your eyes. Having higher vitality means having your body recovering fast to its original normal status or how fast can your body adapt in some cases.}

{As for soul it is as complicated as simple it is. This status measures the amount or volume of the soul one holds. But due to insufficient data, it's hard to describe what soul exactly is or what is it composed of or how is it useful.}

"I see, I understand what does all the stats mean. They are not as simple as I initially thought. There are grey areas where different stats overlap and affect each other. Although the effect is minor, it is present.

"Good" Oliver again focussed and started working on the fence. Although fixing it was easy but most of the fence needed fixing so it took Oliver around 2 hours to fix it all. After fixing the whole fence he looked at his neat and organised worked and felt satisfied. "Hmmm, maybe I have a bit of OCD." but when this thought came to Oliver's mind, he shook his head and laughed it off. He packed all the tools and kept them back in their rightful place. He looked up and the sun was already starting to set.

He walked to Ben and told him that he fixed everything. Listening to this Ben was truly surprised when he heard that. He never imagined that this 15-16 years old boy could fix all his tools. He then walked with Oliver to check on his work. Seeing his worked Ben was astonished then he laughed and said, "Hahaha what beautiful work you have done. Never thought such a small child like you had such a talent in you. Nice work nice work." Ben patted Oliver's back and said, "Let's go back, it's time for lunch."

When they returned Martha had already prepared a delicious meal. On the meal, Ben told Martha how good of a work Oliver had done. Listening to Ben first Martha was surprised too then smiled and complimented Oliver. After lunch first Oliver helped Martha with the dishes and then helped Ben at the farm here and there a little bit. After they were done Oliver went for a bath and freshened himself and wore new clothes which Martha prepared for him before going for her afternoon nap.

After wearing the new clothes Oliver went back to the main hall where Ben was sitting relaxing and enjoying a cup of hot milk. Seeing Oliver Ben smiled and said" Ah Oliver here this is your cup of hot milk. It's fresh, you will like it." Oliver thanked for the cup of milk and sat in front of him.

"So Oliver I heard that you don't remember much and have amnesia for which Ms Ivon gave you herb. So did it help you out?"

Shaking his head he said," All I remember is that when I woke up I was on a battlefield and a person was trying to kill me. I stumbled on the ground and fell but when he was about to kill me an arrow pierced him and killed him. He then fell on me and that arrow pierced my shoulder and then I fainted. Wminutesoke up the war was already over. Maybe I was lucky or something that they thought that I was already dead and left me there. After that, I just picked up a sword, a bow and a quiver full of arrows that were lying around and made a run for it. After I reached the road I travelled for some time before fainting again because of how tired I was and after that, I met you guys. Thankfully you guys took me to Ms Ivon because if the wound were not been treated I would have surely died. That reminds me, the herb she gave sure was a miracle medicine. My wound healed in a matter of minutes and it didn't even leave a scar. Truly amazing!" Oliver was truly amazed.

"Hahaha you are right Ms Ivon is a talented herbalist. But if it were a healer your wound would have been healed in a matter of seconds." "Healer?"Oliver asked with a puzzled expression. "Yeah, healers are those mages that use healing magic"Ben replied."Magic!" Oliver's face was had a shocked expression when he heard the word.

"I see you don't remember much. Yes, I am talking about Magic. Although most of the people cannot use it and only extremely talented people and nobles can use it. Those people who can use magic and train to achieve greater accomplishments in the field of magic to get stronger are called Mages. Each mages' value much exceeds even a king himself because they have the power to exterminate armies themself."

"The reason for war was magic itself. Our Kingdom's name is The Piyasta Kingdom one of the larger middle level empires of our Noles Empire. It had 10 major towns under it and each town had 10 villages under it from 1st village to 10th village under the 1st town. Similarly, our 37th village is under the 3rd town. All of the 10 towns are surrounding the capital city of our empire in a circle. And the capital city which is at least 5 times bigger than any town from 1st to 10th has the most population and is famous for trade and big opportunities. The capital city is also named after the royal family which stays their The Nonem City. The current king of our Piyasta Kingdom was obsessed with reaching immortality as he was at the end of his years. Although he wasn't a mage himself he called some rouge mages with promises of endless wealth if they were able to help him achieve immortality. But somehow the 3 kingdoms adjoining ours got wind of it, although they aren't as big as our kingdom they joined forces and attacked our kingdom. When the king got to know about it he started to recruit men of all ages to fight for him in the battle for all different kind of lure food, money, women you name it. You must have also joined the battlefield for one of these reasons. But seeing your condition it must be food. The result of the battle was heavy losses on both sides. So they stopped and made an agreement of 5 years. For the next 5 years if the king didn't try his experimentation with magic to reach immortality then they wouldn't attack him. Anyways although this is no secret and almost everybody knows about it, it would be better if you didn't talk about it in the public."

Listening to this Oliver suddenly stood up and almost screamed, "Immortality..... does that mean it's even possible to bring people back to life?" Seeing Oliver's reaction Ben was surprised at first then calmly tried to explain, "Magic is a beautiful thing which can not be judged with normal standards or logics. It's possible to regrow limbs and bring back a half-dead person to his tiptoe condition. But bringing back dead... who knows, I won't say it's possible but I cannot say that it's impossible either. But the answer to that can only be told by strongest of strong mages, after all, it's not something we mortals are allowed to know about."

Listening to this the cup of hot milk fell from his hand and tears started to roll down his eyes.
