1 The Harris household.

The Harris household is a household unlike no other. The Harris family is a completely normal family. Father works as a baker inside the city of Estocia, while Mother works as a bartender in a rowdy local pub, The Plough. I know that in their younger years, my parents wished to be mages, just like everyone does. Remember, dreams are dreams, you aren't expected to fight for what you 'dream' for, aspirations don't all become true. Only the truly talented, rich, or simply unique could hope of achieving their true desire.

Most people complain that as long as they're given the appropriate guidance and resources, they would achieve their dreams, but this is simply incorrect! Look at school! People are given so much to help guide them, yet they still blabber excuses about why they don't want to study! And these people are then confused as to why they failed to achieve what they had hoped to in the first place!

A small percentage of people, however, do want what they say they want. This small percentage of people are willing to make serious efforts, and do whatever it takes to attain what they want. Provided a lack of resources in addition to a lack of appropriate guidance, would you do whatever it took to have your goals come to fruition? Or would you give up, just like the rest?

The population of Estocia, numbering roughly fifty-five thousand, has produced only 4 mages in its entire lifetime. You see, although anyone can use magic, not everyone can become a mage. mages are top of the line magic users, mages are free to do what they want. To become a mage, they must pass a test, whether they want to become an adventurer, join the army, or just carry on their normal life is up to them, but most mages are employed by the army.

Although wars are rare, it would not be correct to say they don't happen, it's always best to be prepared, as my parents have taught me at least.

Speaking of my parents!

My mother has blue eyes, brown hair and is a very intelligent woman, other than a mage, which is impossible for the large majority of people, mother wanted to become an accountant. She didn't have large enough funds to attend higher education nor a way of acquiring them. This is how Mother ended up as a bartender.

On the contrary, my father is an average looking man, he enjoys cooking but he is, in the nicest way to put it, a bit stupid. My father never even considered higher education, after realizing his dreams to become a mage were a mere pipe dream, he decided to pursue his second love, cooking.

"I, Kelly Harris, am going to become the exception. I am going to become a mage no matter how hard it is."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All adults say a phrase similar to what Kelly said when they were children as well, but as we have acknowledged, not all adults become mages, will Kelly's dream stay a dream, or become reality?
