1 Pilot Chapter

A Conspiracy

"The sun is always rising in the east and setting in the west. Everyday, we wake up, eat, work, eat and then sleep. Taught in the school about the earth that it is a sphere and it goes around the sun with the other planets with its own moons. The NASA claims that they have sent astronauts in the outer space, Neil Armstrong being the first man to land the moon and some more that claims to land on Mars. The media feeds to us everything we should know. The wonders of the world unknown.

But, aren't you skeptical, that if the world really revolves around the sun and rotating at the same time, why does the ancient man uses the stars to know the place where they will go. As if staring at the very same picture every night, like it was painted by a majestic hand. Why does the planes never ventured in the Pacific when in fact they are the fastest route to the Asian countries like Japan or Korea? Why does the most strongest hurricanes and storms were created in the Pacific? Why does the Pacific is only limited to scientists and a very few explorers? Why does it seems like when someone goes in there they never came back? Why do planes and ships suddenly vanish without a trace?

Have you ever left your home, ventured out and do some research on your own to somehow verify the truthfulness of their words?

What if, just a what if, everything you knew about this world is a conspiracy? A conspiracy of those who have the power to feed our minds with their wildest imagination and be our reality."

"What a strange letter." Caelyne sighed while folding back the letter she just found lying on her desk. "What letter?" her friend Elise abruptly asked after sensing her friend's discomfort on the other side of the booth. Elise managed to take a peek at her.

"Ugh, I... just a letter."

Well duh, I don't exactly know why ancient people used the stars to navigate, but I am quite certain that airplanes coming from America won't use the vast pacific ocean since they need to stop once in a while to check the plane's status and condition or to avoid disaster in case they need to have an emergency landing. Lastly, only scientists and explorers would want to go there anyways, why waste time going there? Of course it would be only available to them.

Caelyne's train of thought was disturbed by a nudge on her shoulder.

"Hey, I'm asking where did you get that letter?" Elise then stand up to probe on her computer and found her desktop on their company's website. Confused, she looked at Caelyne's hand which actually holds a yellow stained paper.

"Snail mail? Really, at this age?" Elise asked one after another, her disbelief is clear on her face. It has been decades since the smartphones and the internet was used as a medium for communication. Receiving a snail mail is really a rare sight.

"I'm not sure either. When I arrived here it was already on my table. Maybe one of us here got bored and randomly wrote this and leave it here." she was clear that some good-for-nothing-co-employee randomly put that envelope with a weird seal and placed it there.

"I figured, what does it says? Let me see." Elise took the letter and read its content after some time of contemplation she nodded and said " What a strange letter."

Caelyne laughed at Elise's gesture which was very similar to hers after reading the letter. Caelyne then asked her for the letter and was about to return it to the envelope when something fell from it, "another letter?" she thought.

But her eyes widened when she saw her name written on it. It was a check. A Fifty Million Dollar Check.
