9 Olympia's School for the Gifted.

(Let's play a little game of "Who is that Pokemon?" Drop a paragraph comment when you figure it out. I'll try not to make it too obvious. First place wins a cookie. But no cheating by going back and commenting. Drop the comment on the paragraph you think you figured it out. If you cheat, you get no cookie. Also, Kiyan, you can't play because you gave me the idea, but you also get a cookie🍪)

"Three letters of recommendation from three different Professors." she muttered to herself as she put the letters down.

It was unusual for someone who came to her school to join at such a young age. Unless an extreme circumstance occurred most people preferred to wait. Judging by the circumstances he seemed to have a good amount of control over his powers. Were it not for the letters she probably would have rejected the application and told them to join at a later date.

"I can only hope he will be serious when it comes to classes."

The room she was in appeared to be in outer space, with the different planets in sight creating a mystical appearance.

She turned to look at a spot that appeared to be empty before asking.

"I know you like to mess with newbies, but try not to annoy him too much. You already know how much of a hassle it was to clean up your last 'prank'"

Only a small mischievous giggle was heard from the empty spot, leading Olympia to sigh.

Standing in front of a beautiful building, I had to admit I was a bit nervous.

After I had said my goodbyes to my mom I took a few moments to admire the building in front of me. Some moments later I took a deep breath before making my way through the doors. Past them, I was greeted with what appeared to be a small and simple room with not much decoration.

Waiting at the front was a man waiting with a smile.

"Ah, Mr. Berlitz, Miss Olympia has been awaiting you. Just make your way into the center of the room and you will be taken to meet her."

This place gave me a bit of the creeps. For some reason, I felt as if I was being stared down, yet I couldn't pinpoint the exact location.

Pushing that feeling to the back of my head I made my way to the center of the room, and the moment my foot entered the ring that enveloped the gym logo I saw my surroundings change. Almost as if I had been transported to space I could see the planets and stars as if they were right in front of me. I could even see what appeared to be Earth in the distance.

I had heard people who challenged the gym describe this place before, but seeing it with your own eyes was an entirely different matter. I was filled with awe for some seconds before the discomfort rose again.

My eyes darted from place to place to no avail, and even by using my psychic sense, I couldn't detect anything. For what it was worth, at least it didn't feel as if it wanted to harm me.

Before I was able to dive deeper into what was making me uncomfortable a woman wearing a uniform showed up and greeted me with a friendly tone.

"Hi there, Miss Olympia has been waiting for you. Follow me!"

She was working as a guide as she gave a general tour of the gym and school. It was amazing how gigantic the interior of the gym appeared to be. I knew from the outside it the building wasn't large enough to hold all of this space.

"How did Olympia create this place? Is it some sort of illusion and we are just walking in circles? There is no way she created something like a pocket dimension. Did she? I heard that the gym still looks like this even when she is far away. How does this place even work?" I couldn't hold back my questions as we walked through the absolutely massive building.

The guide, named Gabrielle, simply smiled before bringing her index finger in front of her lips.

"That's a secret! Miss Olympia doesn't like to share much about how she created the gym, but in my opinion, she is just that strong. Wait until you see her have a vision, future sight is amongst the rarest of the skills a psychic can have, but she is known as the best when it comes to it.

There is a rumor that if she allows you to place a hand through one of her silver rings she can see into your future. It is a rare privilege, but I hope to one day earn it!"

It was hard to believe that someone could be strong enough to create such a place, but until there was a conclusive answer indicating something different I would make sure to try my best not to get her on my bad side.

'How cool would it be if I could eventually grow strong enough to create a place like this?' I thought to myself before hearing a giggle behind me.

Stopping in my tracks I quickly turned around to look behind me, but nothing was there.

"Um… Miss Gabrielle, do you ever… feel weird when you are wandering around? I have this feeling in the back of my head that something bad is going to happen."

I knew ghost-type pokemon existed in this world, and whenever I got near one I always had an uncomfortable feeling. The few times I assisted Nurse Joy in treating them I always felt as if my skin was itching. Similar to what I was experiencing right now. A feeling I was sure my fellow psychic trainers would understand.

Hearing my words the guide gave a slightly uncomfortable expression before nodding.

"That is normal, Miss Olympia said that it takes a bit of an adapting period for new people whenever they enter the school. She said that we should just ignore it as it goes away after a week or two. I know it can get a bit uncomfortable, but try to bear with it. The last student before you freaked out before storming out, but it's totally normal to have some slight discomfort at first."

That was only slightly reassuring as I felt the discomfort increase even more. Almost as if taunting me.

The tour of the school ended once we arrived in front of Olympia.

She was a dark-skinned woman with curled purple hair and violet eyes. She wore a long silver coat with a pattern resembling space underneath. Floating individually around her arms and just beneath her neck were three big silver rings.

Once Olympia gave a nod to Gabrielle, she excused herself from the room to give us some privacy.

"I trust you have gotten acquainted with the school. If you are prepared I would like to give you a small test to determine your current skills and limitations."

She certainly was straight to the point but I wasn't going to complain.

"Yes, Miss Olympia, I am prepared. Though I must say that it is an honor to meet you, I have heard great things about you."

Olympia gave a small smile before nodding her head.

"Allow your psychic abilities to go out to their maximum. I will then analyze you using my own. If you can resist, try to do so, we can test your defenses as well."

Nodding my head I closed my eyes before relaxing my mind. Surprisingly, there were no whispers nor visions in this "pocket dimension" or whatever this might be. Emboldened by the silence I pushed my powers as hard as I could.

I could feel a slight tremor in the ground beneath me. I could also feel a small presence in the room that I couldn't before, the source of my discomfort. But before I could open my eyes to analyze my surroundings I felt my mind being invaded. It reminded me of the feeling from when Sabrina had attacked me.

At the time, I wasn't quite sure how I had reflected her attack. But thanks to some practice with my musketeers I had figured out a way that was simple in concept. I allowed my defenses to lower a bit letting her power begin to encroach my mind. Paying close attention to the feeling I waited for the perfect moment. I focused as hard as I could, and the moment I felt her psychic powers completely infiltrate my mind I fully reinforced my mental defenses.

Acting as some sort of rubber band I piggybacked her own deflected psionics back to her mind. Yet just as I felt my powers make contact with her mind I felt my body get violently launched backwards.

Crashing against the wall I lost focus on my psionics, causing it to stabilize. As I opened my eyes I saw a shocked Olympia as she quickly ran towards me and crouched to my side to check if I was ok.

"I'm sorry, your actions caught me off guard so I reacted on instinct. I have almost never seen someone use such a dangerous way to fight back."

Her face showed a lot of concern as she quickly checked me for any injuries. Yet other than a slight headache I felt fine.

"Dangerous?"

"You should never let an opponent so close to your mind. Had this been a real fight you risk entering each other's subconsciousness. If your opponent truly gained access to your most inner thoughts with evil intentions you would be risking losing yourself or turning into a vegetable. Never, and I mean never, do such a thing again."

I almost felt my heart leap out of my chest. Did I give the psychopath Sabrina free access to my mind? I hadn't even noticed her presence if I had. This lesson alone had already made my trip to the school worth it. My mind couldn't help but flood with questions.

Before I could get carried away with my thoughts I focused back on the task at hand.

Looking at the concerned expression of Olympia I asked the question that was most prominent in my mind.

"I promise to never do that again… But other than that… did I pass the test?:

Olympia's face of concern quickly shifted to one of anger before quickly shifting back to a soft smile.

"Child, is that really the question you should be asking after I said you did the most dangerous thing a psychic can do?"

She stood up from the ground while shaking her head, but she couldn't hide the slight smile that was slowly creeping into her face.

"Though I do have to admit I was quite impressed by everything else I saw. You have been training in unorthodox methods, probably with pokemon. But you must remember their minds are different from ours.

You will have to adjust what you have learned to better suit the human mind. But you showed a lot of promise. Not many people can make the school's floor tremble."

Lifting me up to my feet by using her telekinesis she said as her regal demeanor returned.

"Go back to your room and get cleaned up. Make sure to rest well. We'll begin with our lessons tomorrow."

Quickly straightening my clothes I gave her a small bow.

"I cannot wait for the lessons to begin. I will excuse myself for now, teacher."

I was going to try my best to rest, but judging by the itching I felt in my back and the sense of being observed I could already tell that tonight was going to be a long night.
