11 Go Karting Go....

I went with mom and Ms. Wegner to take a look at the Karting track, indoors. We entered a building with high steel sheet roof and many Go Karts were present there and when we got in, the noise of Karts running around and racing eachother.

"These are our young racers, they only have joined the Ring only around 2 months. They are still getting acquainted with the Kart. You will also go with the stage. You will only get to use the indoor track till you are atleast a year into karting, this is for your safety" Ms. Wegner said to me.

This did dampen my mood to go straight to racing, still it was nothing compared to that I will be getting to race later on. Then I asked "Ms. Wegner, from when can I get race with other kids in the Go Kart".

"Call me Rita, Ms. Wegner makes me sound like an old woman. For your next question, you can start now....but you need to have a Kart before for around 3 months " she raised my hopes up so much that I was ready to run and get into a Kart buth she then doused the hopes with cold water. She was the worst and both Rita and mom laughed at my situation and expression. This made me feel ashamed and this in turn made them laugh more.

After that we walked and took the look the area for the Karts to be kept after the use. Then we went to find a Kart suitable for my height, then we had to wait for dad and Mr. Hues to come so that I could get and try the Kart if it was a good match for me.

After waiting for 15 minutes, dad and Mr. Hues came and instructed me to sit in the Karts they brought out and I was very excited to do it and get the experience of getting into a Kart.

After going through the available Karts for my size, I finally decided to settel on a Red, Yellow and Blue Kart with number 7 on it. This will be my 1st Kart. Then they all checked the reach of my legs to the pedals and the steering wheel position.

After all this I was good with the Go Kart. Then Mr. Hues came and said to me, "Ok lad, now that we have selected the Kart without much difficulty, most of the times the children of your age asr too small to fit in the Karts as they dont have height as yours, it seems you are lucky. You should come in tomorrow evening then we can properly introduce to the all know to's of Karting and no you cannot drive the Kart for another 1 week of intensive training and theory"

"Awww, why should I have to wait so much and can't we do another way, like if I can get all the theories right and don't have any problems with the training I can get to drive the Kart before the 1 week mark ?" I pleaded.

This felt on the deaf ears of Mr. Hues as he didn't even listen to my suggestion as he turned it down by saying that it is same for everyone. Like this we returned to our home.

Next day came and after the breakfast mom, dad and me went to our nearby public school to get admitted into grade 1 to start my schooling after a month. The facr about the German schooling system is that it is much less competition oriented which helps in lower the bullying in school premises and increase in the confidence levels in the students and the students usually have the highest level of aptitude problem solving skills.

The primary education (1 - 5 grades) is usually free and it is more of a on-hands experience for the students. This was totally unheard of in India, where the children are said to just eat up all the textbooks and vomit it on the exam paper only then you will get the full marks.

We visited the principal of the school and she asked me few questions and I answed them quote easily. It would have been too embarrassing for me if I an 25 year old man couldn't answer the questions meant for a 5 year old kid.

As the time progressed, I was getting more and more excited for my 1st class on Go Karting. Then it was just a matter of waiting for my chance to race.

We arrived at the Karting Ring and then Rita came to pick me. Then I said my good byes to mom and dad, they will come to pick me after 3 hours. Then Rita took me to the indoor track where Mr. Hues was watching and giving directions to the kids racing in the ring.

When he saw us, he turned and motioned me to go to my kart. I went towards my kart and saw 3 more kids, 'these might be the new drivers starting today' I thought. I thought it would be good for me to introduce myself, "Hello everyone, my name is Matthias and it nice to meet you all".

Then the group introduced themselves to me. They were Raymond, Nicholas and Adrian. But who knew that even after I go to other rings, we still would be meeting eachother quite often.

Raymond has black hair and amber coloured eyes and he is extremely serious and has a no nonsense like on his face and his age is 8 years. He is the main analyst of the team.

Nicholas has strawberry blonde hair with electric blue eyes wich match his eccentric personality very well and most likely the spokes person of that group. His age was also 8. He reminds me of Naruto sometimes.

Adrian is a very shy kid but has good head, he has good outlook on everything, he has blonde hair and brown eyes. He is majorly the descision maker for this group.

After all that chit-chat, Mr. Hues called all of us and started to explain all about the Karting and Karts.
