Memories (2)

Powerful waves crashed along the shore of the Silversword territory as the sunset dyed orange the vast towering sky. Numerous chirps echoed throughout the territory as the sun buried itself across the endless horizon, notifying the citizens of the conclusion of a yet another day.

At the centre of that territory lies a huge and splendid stone castle exuding a tremendous feel of the olden times. And on the western part of that castle was a fine and luxurious bedroom filled with impressive furnitures and chattels. However, in contrast to the lively marketplace filled with the chattering of the citizens, the castle was at the peak of its gloom due to the misfortune of one person.

Carl Silversword, firstborn of the territory lord, has been bedridden on the said bedroom for three days after he was found unconscious on the western woods by several wandering hunters. His body that had been stripped off of its vivacity ever since was took care of by his personal assigned butler, Mark Glenn.

"It has been three days, young master." The butler spoke, as he squeezes the water out of a wet towel he brought along with him. "The lord and all the servants of this castle are worried about you."

The butler lightly tapped the towel on Carl's forehead as he continued to speak. "The lady and young master Jay will be arriving here two days from now, though they are supposed to be in the capital for two more weeks. It seems the both of them were quite worried about you given the importance of that trip."

The butler stopped talking and stared at his young master's face that became too pale within the past three days. He kept quiet and waited a bit for a reply, but in the end, he could only sighed in defeat.

It has always been a habit of his to prattle to his young master about the minor things going on in the Silversword castle. On those times, Carl would answer, 'You're worrying too much, Glenn' or 'Give it a rest and bring me a cup of tea instead'. However, Glenn no longer hear a reply from Carl for the past three days. This made him want to give up on the hope that his young master would one day open his eyes and smile at him like he had always done.

<The explosion took a great toll on his body. So it might be best if you start to prepare for the worst.>

Glenn recalled the words of the healer who was known to be the best among the healers of the entire kingdom. When even the best known healer had given up on him, he thought it might be better for him to move on from his hopeless little wish.

"I shall take my leave now." The butler sighed once more and departed with a soft click on the door.

As soon as the butler left, the person who had been slumbering suddenly opened his eyes.

'Who was that person?'

The expression painted on his face was that of astonishment and confusion. All at once, his head was filled with all kinds of theories and questions about what was going on around him.

'Did Lyndielth cast a wrong spell? Or is it that the spell went wrong along the way? Anyhow, I should be dead by now right?'

Dean Slain, who had just awoken tried lifting his body up, but failed as he could not even lift a finger. When he stared down at his body, he then saw the cause of his immobility.

His body was covered with bandages from top to bottom. From the degree of his injuries to the bombarding pain he felt inside him, he concluded that his body previously suffered from a massive explosion.

'But has my body always been this small?'

There was no way that was the case. From a young age, his body had been toughly trained to withstood every single attack while slaying a dragon. Even though he could not properly see his exact stature, he knew from instinct that this was not his real body, but someone else's. And that only led him to one conclusion.

'Reincarnation!'

Instead of casting a spell to bring an end to his life, the spell his disciple cast on him was a reincarnation spell which only dragons were known to be capable of. A pain started brewing on his head as one sentence constantly floated on his mind.

'Lyndielth, what have you done?'
