The Island That Travels by Sea

On an island that gifts incredible powers, not all of us are content with the life we have. Though some have mastery over the elements, transform their bodies or even prevent and cure diseases; life grows stale for those who aspire for greater meaning to their life. We move the island so we won't be found. We do it because we can and because the alternative is to allow the world into our secret. If we're found then we would have to contend with those who would hate and fear us for what we can do. It hasn't always been like this but those who remember the time before are nearly all gone. Some believe we should stay secluded, inaccessible to those on the outside and others that we should use the gifts we have to heal the world. I thought I knew what I believed, until a dark truth was thrust upon me and I was faced with the choice between what I believed was right and what those in power say we must do.
