21 The Night
Late that night, just outside the brewery, The Wild Bunch waited to ambush the skinwalker. The girls stood watch by a couple of large rocks while the boys laid hidden on a sand dune the other way. Jeff placed himself between the two groups realizing the failure in progress. The girls were gossiping about celebrities and each other's outfits. Meanwhile, the boys were still bickering.
Jeff thought about Logan's statement earlier, regarding the skinwalkers spawning within the actual factory instead of outside. It made no sense as the Indians were not able to get inside the brewery. They were deemed too dirty and were left outside to work instead.
A man ran out the brewery scared.
"Get up!" yelled Jeff.
The girls quickly locked onto Jeff's location and ran up towards him. The boys were dragging their speed to argue.
"Hakim! You're into now as well?" asked Jeff.
Hakim replied, "I was just saying they should just play the game or leave".
Avoiding the nonsense, Vanessa took charge and led the girls inside the brewery. The man had fallen down. The girls first noticed the blood over his body. Dani caught wind of the smoke, causing them to storm in before the skinwalker got away.
Bursting through the door, Vanessa took lead with her revolver straight up. Echoing screams were her guide to lead her girls to the beast. They passed many dead bodies. Some were disemboweled while others were mauled to death. But the three girls were already accustomed to seeing blood.
Dani on the other hand was getting anxiety from the smoke seeping through the hallways. Her hands were feeling numb on her revolver as they were getting deeper into the brewery. Vanessa and Jaivva hadn't noticed.
They instead ran around the first floor until they came to a large open storage room. The girls heard fresh screams coming from the room as they stood centered looking up and around and the giant beer kegs and the second floor.
A man was thrown over the rails. The girls looked up at where the man was launched. They saw a giant creature emerge from the shadows. Flames were appearing around the room which scared Dani more than the actual creature itself.
The beast was large and packed with muscles. Antlers sporadically stuck out the beast's head as well as down its back. They were points with blood dripping. Its skin was a pale discolored purple. The beast had pitch-black hands and feet larger than two heads together.
Vanessa and Jaivva shot the beast as it jumped at them. Dani positioned herself for a better shot. Even when it landed, Dani held her ground to shoot whereas the other two gained distance.
The beast wasn't phased. It is at this moment that the girls realized that the beast had 6 red slanted eyes and a long snout with big teeth. It hurled its claws into Dani, sending her flying into a beer keg.
Vanessa fired while running towards the skinwalker. Jaivva ran to Dani who was flailing her arms and legs.
With her cavalry saber, Vanessa parried the skinwalker's attacks. It tore through her attack.
She jumped back to gain distance. But the skinwalker jumped on top of her. It ripped his claws through her thin body.
Vanessa used her sword to hold off its claws and her feet to kick away. Its claws only managed to get deeper into its skin. Blood seeped into her pelted top till it was multiple shades of brown and red. Even the antlers pierced into her.
Jaivva began shooting back. Dani mustered the strength to slowly reload her gun.
After tossing Vanessa like trash, the skinwalker ran towards Jaivva.
She ducked and ran between the kegs to escape.
Kegs flew out as the skinwalker chased Jaivva. She hid well hiding away from the beast, causing it to take a methodical approach.
The skinwalker began sniffing around in search of her scent with no success. Eventually, it heard her steps.
It jumped across the kegs once more to land in front of her.
She emptied it into the head of the skinwalker. But it was of no use for it resisted all of her bullets.
The skinwalker grabbed ahold of Jaivva and slammed her down. It sat there a bit, punching Jaivva's face in every direction. Blood splatted from revenge with each hit.
A heavy impact came to the skinwalker's back.
"Aim upwards into its lungs!" yelled Logan.
Jeff fired the rifle at the skinwalker's lungs. The bullets were not fatal. But the creature was clearly suffering.
Andres held tight pulling the skinwalker back so that its shoulders were held high and its stomach was exposed.
The skinwalker smashed its back into a keg. Antlers pierced throughout Andres' body. Once he fell off, it ran towards Jeff and Vanessa in the center of the room.
When the skinwalker came from behind the kegs Hakim had slammed a truncheon into its stomach. The beast knocked him out to face Jeff, who was reloading.
Logan ran up with two hand guarded daggers and stabbed into the skinwalker's lungs. Its skin was thick, preventing him from actually reaching the lungs. Nonetheless, Logan kept stabbing in for a vital organ.
The skinwalker was too slow to counter. Andres even managed to catch up to beat on the beast.
Jeff began circling the beast, looking for the right angle to strike.
Vanessa mustered the strength to slip on her gauntlets. She jumped onto the antlers, latching on tightly. With her right hand on an antler near the skinwalker's face, she called out, "extend".
The pole from her gauntlet extended through the skinwalker's temple.
It quickly spun around, knocking off Vanessa, along with Logan and Andres. It ran out with Jeff rapidly firing at it.
The skinwalker was injured and pursuable. But half the team was down and the building was on fire.
"Quick" yelled Jeff, "I will carry Dani! Andres, carry Jaivva! Logan, carry Hakim! Vanessa, stay close"!
Everybody did as told with Andres in the lead. Once outside, they had realized it was already dawn. Logan stared into the desert and saw that the skinwalker's tracks had headed out further into the desert towards the mountains.
"We should check over the mountains next," said Logan.
Jeff intervened saying, "first we need to get to a clinic. Andres, where is a nearby clinic"?
Andres tapped his leather vest and said "map"? A map then appeared in front of him as a virtual display. He toggled his view around until he realized that the clinic was only a few blocks away.
"It is right past the jailhouse," said Andres.
