1 Angelane and the Ariner Family

In the planet of Angelane, there are four continents with their own cultivation element. The Inferno continent is for the fire cultivators, the Tempest continent is the land for wind cultivators, the Terrestrial continent is for earth cultivators and the Tear continent is for water cultivators. There should be peace between the cultivators from each continent if not for the fifth continent, the Material continent. Spiritual energy, which allows the cultivators to control their respective element, are much more abundant in the Material continent which caused the wars between the continents for one millennium. Whoever cultivates in the Material continent would have their cultivation five times higher than cultivators cultivating outside the Material continent making it easier to understand why these wars existed. The Material continent is larger than all four continents combined and whoever controls this continent will become stronger than all of the other three continents combined making the wars worth the risk. After seeing the bloodshed of of one millennium however, the wars were brought to an end by the Supreme Clear stage Emperors from each of their respective continent by creating the Material Peace contract. The contract was an array created by the four Emperors at the cost of their own life to cover the entire Material continent which will prevent wars from each continent by killing those with the intent of taking the continent. Though it was thought to be harsh and immoral by the citizens of each continent, it ended the wars and brought peace to the land. The Emperors of each continent are determined not by their bloodline but to their power. Every Emperor can be challenged through trial by combat every one hundred years and the story starts 1101 years after the Material Peace contract.

When it comes to cultivators, ten percent of the population of a continent are the only ones capable to cultivate. The ones that are able to cultivate are ones that are able to feel spiritual energy and use it to detect the elements and manipulate them. An average person can distinguish other cultivators by looking at one's temperament, physical appearance, or aura. To a regular person, when one is near a fire cultivator, heat will emerge from their body and their temperament is mainly related to anger. When one is near a wind cultivator, their speech and bodies would be fast and almost incomprehensible due to how wind relates to speed. When one is near a water cultivator, their emotions would seem calm, but when angered, their emotions move forth like a Tsunami. Due to how water is related to the atmosphere the surroundings might also feel damp or humid. Lastly, when one is near an earth cultivator, their body would feel like it as hard as a rock and their emotions will feel stagnant and unchanging.

Using these signals is how cultivators also detect others but due to their close interaction with the elements, it is obvious by simply feeling how their element interacts with others. When one's cultivation becomes stronger however, their control of the element would create the lack of an aura. The lack of an aura usually create misunderstandings between deciding the person confronted is a talented cultivator or an average person so many cultivators are less likely to fight against commoners in fear of the other being a great cultivator.

When it comes to cultivation, the beginners would start with searching the presence of their element. How can one cultivate an element if they do not know where it is? For example, a water cultivator is more likely to find an oasis filled with water in a desert instead of a fire cultivator because of their connection to water. When cultivators reach the middle stage, their bodies must able to transform into the element itself. The amount of body parts replaced with their elements represents how much higher or lower their level is. A cultivator that can transform their hand into a rock is weaker to a cultivator that is covered in fire. Lastly, the strongest types of cultivators are the ones that are capable to creating their element out of nothing. If their element can be created and manipulated to anything they want, the more they create the more it represents their power.

The Ariner family is strongest of the top three families of the Pyre precinct of the Inferno continent. Competing with the Grizor and the Talden family, the Ariner family is at the top because they not only have the skills for cultivation but also for business. Their main product is the Ariner strengthening pill which was created by their ancestor from one thousand years ago. Though some of its ingredients were lost due to extinction and would lead to side-effects after intake, the researchers of the clan were able to substitute some of the ingredients for the pill to be sold to the public. The Ariner body strengthening pill was the most demanded pill from all the continents giving them many connections to friends but also enemies.

The leader of the clan, Mason Ariner, is the strongest leader that the family ever had ever since their ancestor from one thousand years ago. Cultivation was put into five stages: Blue, Green, Red, Black, and Clear. Each stage also has nine levels to determine the strength between each cultivator. Mason Ariner is currently at the second level of the Clear stage which was the same level as their ancestor who was the personal guard of the ninth level Clear Stage Emperor from one thousand years ago. Due to the lack of Clear Stage cultivators, though Mason is not the strongest at the the Inferno continent, the Emperor of the ninth level Clear Stage would still listen to his advice if needed. His influence with the Emperor made the other two families to fear them making any thoughts of alliances to disappear.

Mason Ariner has three sons and one daughter. The oldest is Moraeus Ariner, who is only twenty four years old, is known for his ability to command an army of five hundred to kill an army of one thousand with no casualties during the Inferno continent rebellions. His tactical brilliance makes him one not only Mason's favorite but also the Emperor's. The second eldest child of Mason is Angie Ariner.

His daughter is known to be a genius in business making her the lead merchant surpassing all the elders in the family. Though she is only twenty two years old, her ability to advertise and handle merchandise impressed her father. Though Moraeus is gifted with the talent of cultivation reaching the ninth level of the Red stage, Angie does not lag behind reaching the sixth level of the Red stage. If not for her brother, she would be considered as the most talented cultivator of this century. Compared to Moraeus, she is the favorite of all the elders making her a potential candidate as the future leader of the clan if she was a man. Due to the patriarchal society of the Inferno continent, she would have not been able to fight for the seat of leader no matter how talented she is.

The third child of Mason's is Roth Ariner who is known for being a genius alchemist of this era. At the age of eighteen, he was one of the researchers who helped substitute new ingredients for the Ariner body strengthening pill which has the ability to strengthen one's body to not only increase the defense of one's body but also help with a cultivator's perception of the elements. Now being twenty years old, though his fight for the seat as leader is slim, he is second in line after Moraeus due to having the fifth level of the Red stage for his age.

The last child of Mason's is Alex Ariner. Compared to his siblings, he is not one that has many merits to his name. Though Mason is happy to have a fourth child and is also a boy, his other children had impressed him while Alex is considered to just be a talentless person in the family. Due to Mason's overwhelming power as a Clear stage cultivator, having a son of only the Blue stage of the ninth level, he often sees the child as only a tool for marriage outside the family. Though he is only fifteen, his cultivation was so slow that his highest capability must only be at the first level of the Red stage even with the use of multiple cultivation pills. He sees Alex as a disappointment even though Alex can be considered as a genius in other families. Even the Grizor and Talden families would consider him less than average and only backwater villages might consider him as a genius.

Every member of the family has red, long, and smooth hair, but because they cultivate fire, they are either bold or have short hair. Because of the nature of fire, they would get burnt when cultivating. Another physical aspect of the Ariner family is their lightly browned skin. When they start cultivating as a child, their lack of control would constantly burn their skin. A way of distinguishing who the most talented members of the family are by looking how light their skin is because the lighter the skin represents the amount of control they have of fire. The only anomaly is Alex because of his lack of desire for cultivation, he has the longest hair and the lightest skin of the entire family. Every member of the family desires to improve themselves especially the children and when they see Alex not cultivating even though he is the son of the leader, it angers them to the point where they want to beat him up no matter how high his status is in the family. The family's scrutiny is what makes him stay and help with the commoners.

The family's rejection of Alex did not bother him at all. The amount of rejection that he feels everyday not only shaped his morals but also his personality as well. Because he was not talented, he treated others equally with no air of superiority and no matter of their status in society, he treated everyone with care. His love for the people are well received making him the most favored member of the Ariner family by the public. He has no intention of becoming the leader of the family however, because his freedom would become limited. If anyone had to give him any merit, his charisma is his strongest skill.
