Saving the Little Sister

Haruhiro and Nanako arrived at the place where most of the children from the orphanage are staying at. They were interrupted by one of Nanako's subordinate telling them that one of the children from the orphanage collapsed and have still not woken up.

Standing outside of the building Haruhiro could hear people talking inside. He knocked on the door and when it opened, they both hurriedly got inside the house.

Inside they saw the anxious expression on the people's face. Haruhiro could see both Erina and Shiori that have waited for them. He frowned when he saw the fear and anxiety on their faces, it seems to him that the situation doesn't seem good. When the two saw Nanako and Haruhiro enter, they stood up from their sits and walked towards them.

Erina and Shiori noticed how Nanako's clothes seem disheveled and her hair messy. Her cheeks also seem flushed and when they got close to the two, they could smell a strange scent coming from them. They couldn't help but blush when they realized where this scent came from.

However, Haruhiro's voice quickly brought them back to reality before they could fully imagine what they think happened to them.

"Lead us to him."

Haruhiro wants to immediately see whether that kid is infected or not. If the child is infected then a lot of things will have to change in this camp. However, he feels that the kid is not infected and in a situation where he would later turn into an undead. However, if that kid isn't infected then what could have happened?

Erina then said with her face still blushing, "This way Sato-kun." She then leads them to the stairs heading to the second floor.

"Tell us what happened again. All that we were told is that a kid collapsed while playing."

Nanako didn't want to waste any time, she wants to hear what really happened as they walk to where the kid is resting. Shiori nodded her head and started to talk.

"I was watching the kids playing when one of them suddenly collapsed. I thought at first that she tripped but she didn't stand up even after a few seconds. That's when I thought that something wasn't right.

I run up to her and saw that she fainted but up until now she still hasn't woken up. I was afraid that she might be... That's why I told Ishikawa-san to call Sato-san because you seem to know a great deal about what's happening. I'm sorry however it seems that you were busy."

Haruhiro and Nanako's movement halted because of the last part of Shiori's explanation. They looked at her weirdly but they know that they need to hurry it up. However, Haruhiro still found what she said and the way she said it quite... Confusing. Anyway, it doesn't matter now.

"We're here. Sato-kun, I'll have to tell you that the one that collapsed was Ayaka-chan. You need to calm down, alright?"

It was like lighting struck Haruhiro, making him unable to move. Ayaka... The figure of a little girl who's always calling him "brother" appeared in his head. That sweet kid who would follow him wherever he went, and would always cry because of childish things.

"Ayaka-chan?" Haruhiro muttered under his breath. He couldn't wait anymore and opened the door. Once inside, he then saw the little girl or at least the older version of her.

Years have passed and that little has grown up... Well, at least most of her. He could see her sleeping soundly and Haruhiro immediately felt relieved. It seems that she's not in pain, he could at least relax for now. He then looked around and saw that aside from Ayaka another person is standing near her bed.

She looks around the same age as Nanako or maybe a few years younger than her. She has a messy ponytail with bangs as her hairstyle. This person is wearing a gray turtleneck sweater and black pants while on top of it is a doctor's coat. Haruhiro also noticed that this woman has an alluring figure comparable to Nanako. Her chest, butt, and long legs attracted Haruhiro and though he just had an amazing time with Yasumi his dragon started raising once again.

"Who are you? Why did you suddenly enter!?"

That person asked Haruhiro angrily, he then heard the others enter the room after he did. Noticing the tense situation inside the room, Erina quickly spoke up to solve the misunderstanding.

"Matsui-sensei, this is Sato-san. He's somewhat of a big brother to Ayaka-chan. Sato-san, this is Matsui Himeko-sensei. A friend of Nanako-nee and the doctor at our camp. She was also our school's new nurse for the clinic before all that happened, happened."

The person called Himeko then moved away her glare from Haruhiro and turned to look at Nanako behind him. She smiled and greeted her with a nod, completely ignoring Haruhiro.

Haruhiro already heard about this doctor from Nanako and Anna before so he didn't feel that surprised to see her ignore him. He knows that she's the type of person who truly hates men and adores women. Haruhiro decided to just ignore her as well since right now he's worried about Ayaka.

He stood beside Ayaka's bed and looked at the pale little girl. He couldn't help but brush her cheeks with his fingers. Although Haruhiro is not the one that experienced all the memories he has with this girl and that this is the first time he even saw her, he's already long decided that he is Haruhiro. Which technically means that he is this little girl's "brother." As his brother, of course, he's worried that his little sister might turn into a living corpse in a few hours.

Nanako then spoke up, "Himeko-chan. What's wrong with Ayaka-chan?" She looked at Himeko who has been silently staring at her and smiled. Himeko was already going to answer when Haruhiro said first, "Congenital heart disease..."

The others looked at him with surprise when they heard him. Himeko then said, "Oh? Are you a cardiologist to know just what's ailing her just by looking?" She looked at Haruhiro with disdain.

Haruhiro didn't care about her, he just looked at his sister and continued to talk with Ava. 'How can I help her Ava?' In fact, the moment he entered the room Ava started scanning Ayaka's condition. Once the System completed the scan and diagnosis of her illness did Ava tell the results to Haruhiro. He felt relieved that she isn't in danger of turning into a zombie but that relief didn't last long before Ava told him how her life is in danger.

He's been told how her heart is too narrow to supply her whole body with enough amount. Ayaka's body doesn't get enough oxygen that led to her fainting due to the fatigue. Haruhiro remembered how she really has been always quick to run out of breath. However, she has never fainted before due to fatigue. How come she did now? 

Also, she's always been the quiet type that doesn't play well with the other kids so how could she even get tired from playing? In order to answer his doubts, he questioned Shiori by asking her who she was playing with.

"If I remember correctly the girl she was playing with is Yasumi-san's little sister."

That answer dumbfounded him, he remembered how Yasumi's parents told him this afternoon that their youngest sister is unlike Yasumi who's quiet and timid. She's energetic and outgoing, definitely the opposite of Ayaka. The reason how the two girls got along enough to make Ayaka have so much fun playing bothered him but he didn't focus on it.

Instead, he waited for Ava's response to his question earlier.

Haruhiro obtained his answer in a form of a quest. To help Ayaka, he would, of course, need a cardiologist and the equipment needed to help her. He also realized because of this that now is the best time to start looting the city for supplies. The medicines and food supplies that they have are not enough, and it will not be enough for them even more since they just agreed to let some people inside the camp. 

His eyes burned with determination.

"Haru-chan?"

Nanako and the others have watched Haruhiro silently, they don't know what's inside his head but it looked like he was thinking of something important. They didn't really want to disturb him but now that it was taking too long, Nanako became impatient and didn't know what to do. 

She can only call his name and when he replied with an embarrassed smile, she sighed in relief. Haruhiro then kissed Ayaka's forehead and said to everyone present in the room.

"I know what to do."
