2 CHAPTER 1

"Hey, wake up. I've been trying to get you up for the past one hour. You know I like to be punctual," I heard Zack say from the other side of my door.

As you already gathered, I am in no way a morning person, and now I have to do everything in a rush.

I'm feeling like quite the grump today, but I can't miss out on my first day of college.

"Ugh, I'm up. I'll be out in thirty. I need to get ready," I called out to him without moving an inch, just staring at the ceiling.

After a few minutes, I finally managed to get myself out of bed and into the bathroom, took a quick shower, and started double-checking to make sure I had everything I intended to take with me.

After all that was done, I got dressed up and began dragging my luggage downstairs with me.

"Finally, I thought you'd never get down here, and I'd have to come knocking on your door again." He said as he motioned for me to take a seat.

"I'm sorry, we both know I'm not some early riser as yourself, but hey, you've got to give me credit. I'm not feeling especially cheery, you know, but I'm laying off on the unnecessary outbursts," I said, rolling my eyes as I poured milk into my cereal.

"You are always so grumpy and rude to some extent, a total snub if you ask me, but we can't choose who we are related to" he didn't even lift his eyes from the newspaper in his hands.

"Well, that being said, you aren't an angel either. You blatantly pointed out that I was forced on you, Saint Zack" we both laughed at my poor humor as we finished up with breakfast.

Zack happens to be my older brother, my only brother at that, and he has been living with me ever since our parents died in a plane crash over 7years ago.

He was fresh out of college by the time and still not fully employed, but he was determined and could get a job to pay the bills and other necessities.

Our parents weren't all that well off since my dad was a dentist and my mom worked as a secretary at the town's national library.
