9 Chapter 9

The day passed without too much activity. In the evening, when Rohan was heading for home Mr. Gupta called him to his office and gave him the signed entry pass. He added, "Saturday evening we are throwing a small party in the office. Our managing director is coming, why don't you bring Sneha with you? I'll introduce him to you and Sneha. The office is inviting several more spouses so your wife won't feel awkward. We'll be sending official invites soon."

Rohan felt uncomfortable. He didn't want Sneha to come for the official party but he didn't say anything, just acknowledged the invite and left.

There were so many things on his mind…he didn't want Stella and Sneha to confront each other. All of a sudden he didn't want Sneha to come to the office or the party, he was embarrassed to bring Sneha with him and Stella might insult both him and Sneha.

His head fogged up with so many thoughts and he went home thinking about it all. As soon as he opened the door of his home a fresh lavender scent wafted through to his nose. The room was brightly lit and a beautiful painting with colours splashed all over it was smiling right in front of him.

Sneha emerged from the balcony and upon seeing him observing the painting intently, smiled as she said, "I ordered this painting a few days back. The artist delivered it today, do you like it?"

While Rohan wasn't a fan of paintings nor did he know anything about art, it was the splash of colours that intrigued him. "It looks vibrant!" He laughed and added, "Looks like you."

Though Sneha didn't quite understand the context, she was flattered and again smiled. Her dimple showed in its full glory and managed to get Rohan's full attention again.

"Can you make me some coffee?" asked Rohan.

"Sure!" Sneha jumped up and headed toward the kitchen in order to make the best cup of coffee for him she had ever made. She was excited that Rohan had asked her to make something for him after coming home from work and this was the first time it had happened since they'd married.

In the meantime, Rohan left to change his clothes. He'd come home a bit early today only to spend some extra time with Sneha. He didn't know why he was doing this but he just thought it felt right. He stopped analysing the thoughts he'd been worrying about from the day before.

Sneha came in with the coffee ten minutes later. She gave a cup to Rohan and sat on the opposite side of the sofa with a cup of her own. "How is it?" she asked with trepidation.

"Great," replied Rohan.

They drank their coffee in silence for a couple of minutes before Rohan told her, "My boss has signed your entry pass. You can come visit me in the office on Saturday." He hesitated and added, "My office is also throwing a party for our managing director next week, would you like to join me for the party since spouses are also invited?"

He wanted her to say no so badly he was anxious about her answer. "I am not sure, let me think about it," answered Sneha. Well, that was good enough for now and by next week he'd come up with an idea so she wouldn't want to go.

He observed Sneha was wearing a lovely pink, long skirt paired with a royal blue blouse. 'Why does she wear such loud colours?' wondered Rohan. While he was pondering her choice, he was actually admiring the colours. The way Sneha was sitting beside him with legs folded made her look elegant, her entire appearance was enticing. Anyone would love to have a girlfriend like Sneha, she was a quiet girl who loved colours and was mature for her age.

"What do you do during your days? Don't you get bored?"
