74 Chapter 74

Vivek woke up in a horrendous mood. The board of directors was already demanding to see the results. He had poured tons of the company's money into the project. He believed in Raj. He knew that Raj's scientific work would bring in even more money. It was supposed to be a completely safe investment.

The office incident shattered him. First the lab burnt down and now Raj refused to cooperate. He had to get the documents somehow. Raj was a good scientist. He definitely kept the documents somewhere safe. He wouldn't just leave them out where they would have been destroyed in the explosion.

"Where would he put those documents? In a safe, in the bank? No! He's not that smart. He must've left them in his house. I bet Mala is protecting them right now. I need them!"

Vivek looked over and saw the woman he had picked up the night before was still asleep next to him.

"Wake up," he snarled at her, shaking her awake. "You have to go."

"What? Are you mad? How dare you treat me like this? I need to get ready!" she squealed.

"Put on your clothes and get out of my house now!"

Her face filled with fear. She didn't argue, she just got dressed and left immediately.

Vivek contemplated going to the office, but he wanted to avoid Raj. He just needed to find a way to get the documents and convince Raj to continue with the experiment.

He called his office where his secretary eagerly informed him that Raj had come to meet him early in the morning.

"What else could Raj have to say? Perhaps he wants to resign?"

Vivek couldn't let that happen. Raj was a gem in the world of science. Vivek fought hard to stop other companies from stealing Raj. He couldn't lose him now.

He spent the morning in his swimming pool. Feeling his body move effortlessly through the water always calmed him and helped him think. After swimming for an hour, he has a plan. It was easy and simple.

He got ready quickly and knew he had to go for a drive. He needed to visit someone. He walked to his parking lot and chose the Chevrolet SUV from his huge fleet of thirty cars. The driver ran to open the back door of the car. However, Vivek said, "I'm driving today. You can stay here."

The driver wasn't surprised. 'Sir' often took the cars without him. He handed over the keys to 'sir' and watched him drive away, speeding dangerously down the driveway and skidding onto the street..

Vivek pulled his SUV into Raj's parking spot outside his apartment. He knew that Raj wouldn't be coming home from the office any time soon. His fingers twitched with nervousness and anger as he took the lift to Raj's apartment. He knocked forcefully on the door.

Mala's face lit up in surprise when she saw Vivek. In the years Raj worked for him, Vivek had only been to their apartment a handful of times. The fact that he was there in the middle of a work day made Mala panic. Something must have happened to Raj. She could not bear the thought of it. He couldn't be hurt again. Immediately, she said, "What happened? Is Raj okay?"

Vivek, sensing her fear, replied, "Oh yes! Everything's fine," as he smiled. "I just came here to talk to you about something that has been concerning me for a long time. I thought you might know the answer."

This did not lessen Mala's anxiety. She did not know what to make of Raj's boss standing in her doorway, asking to speak with her.
