57 Chapter 57

"Is your shoulder hurting?"

"Yes." She nodded. "Last time I tried to smash a man's face, my shoulder was injured."

"Hah!"

"Oh I'm not kidding. He looked so helpless. He sat right beside me in the car and went on talking about his ex-girlfriend. He wasn't paying attention to me. So I took out my bat and smashed his face. You know, I also have a few knives with me. They are right here, hidden under my car seat. Isn't that interesting?"

"Yes." There was a long silence after that.

"Why don't we go back? It's 12:30am now, and you need to be back by 1am."

"Right you are." And then she parked the car in a lonely place.

Stella became very alert and clung to her purse.

"We don't have to stop here, Shonali. This is a quiet neighbourhood."

"What neighbourhood? We are on the outskirts of City M. Hey… don't worry, I won't hurt you… You look so vulnerable right now that my heart goes out to you."

Stella opened the car immediately and started running out into the street. Shonali watched her running in the opposite direction. She turned the car and easily caught up with her.

"I told you I wouldn't hurt you," she growled. "So why are you running away? Sit in the car and let me make things simple for you."

She didn't stop.

Shonali grabbed the knife from beneath the seat and tried to stab her running target, only missing her by inches. She raced the car a bit and then swivelled it in a way that her victim would stop. She threw the knife on the road and took out her bat.

Although the car did impede her speed, she knew she had to run. "This is not how I will end!" She got hold of a small boulder and threw it towards Shonali who was advancing towards her. It hit Shonali's chest. Shonali sent out a deafening cry and her pace slowed. She gained control over herself and with a huge scream ran to hit her. By this time she had lifted the knife from the road and waited for Shonali. As soon as she was within five feet, she ducked and stabbed Shonali in her left leg. Shonali fell, blood splattering all over. She snatched the bat from her and in rage started hitting Shonali on the head. "Die! Die! Die, you cheater! You traitor! Die!" She didn't stop until the girl in front of her stopped moving.

When she did stop, she realized that she was shaking. Her act was evil. She started crying uncontrollably. But she had to save herself.

A few minutes later when she had stopped crying and had controlled her emotions, she gauged the damage that was done so far. Her mind was racing as to what to do next. She quickly checked Shonali's skirt pockets and took out all her belongings. She had to dispose of the body and looked towards the jungle that surrounded the area. She then pulled the lifeless body onto the side of the road towards the tall trees and shrubs of the surrounding jungle. It was dark, so she opened her purse to take out the mobile so that she could use its torch. She held the mobile in her mouth and started pulling the body; she had to hide it somehow. So she dragged it further down into the jungle. When she could no longer lift the weight, she dumped the body and ran out of the jungle to the car. Luckily the keys of the car were in place. She had to dispose of the blood stained bat and the knife. She turned the ignition and headed in the opposite direction away from City M. It started pouring with rain. She stopped at a gas station some 30km away to put fuel in the car. She used the bathroom of the gas station to wash the bat and the knife, and then she continued driving along the highway. She threw the weapons of murder into a local unused factory site that was along the way.

It was already 6am in the morning, and now she had to go back.
