13 CHAPTER 13: The Revenge

[Sasha Shadows]

The dim room turned silent after Kayla had fallen asleep, though I could see her stirring under the dim yellow light. Her face relaxed as she slowly made herself comfortable.

"Time to ruin her good dreams," reminded Isabelle with a silent chirp before giggling evilly. I returned the same expression except the giggle.

"So what next, senpai?" I asked with my palms resting on both sides of my waist as Isabelle waved her hand, indicating me to follow her. Soon, we took a few small steps forward and nearer to the bedside until we were sucked by some sort of force field. It was the feeling of free falling until we landed on a pitch black area.

Safe and sound.

"Are we in Kayla's dream?" Although this unknown space looked edgeless like the sea, my voice seemed to echo as if we were standing beneath mountains.

"Not yet," Isabelle answered, sparing a short glance at me before facing the front again. She was awaiting something to appear, and her eyebrows arched upwards while the things she expected finally reveal. Yes, not only she could see the changing process undergone in this place, so did I.

Initially, the ground was unseen under our feet as described. But soon enough, bright green grass began to paint it alongside the bright blue sky and tall trees. The whole place was not a perfect grassy land as there was a cliff not far away from us, where a couple was sitting on. I wondered who the boy could be.

Before making my move, I squinted at Isabelle but she was gone! Her voice vibrated in my mind, fuming me with anger. "I'd done my part, now use your creativity while finishing your fourth wish."

"What?!" I asked furiously due to its ridiculousness. Due to frustration, I stomped my feet and had totally forgotten about the couple's existence. When I averted my gaze towards the two, I could see both of them standing up and began to face my direction. By then, I could see their faces, in which the girl was Kayla while the boy was my one and only crush, Clerence.

As the couple were facing my direction, Clerence asked Kayla one question that pricked my heart, "Who's she?" Flipping her hair, Kayla's eyes showed pure despise at the sight of me.

She acted so much like a bitch even in her dreams. Oh GOD.

"Nothing, just a piece of trash." Unsurprisingly, she sounded like a bitch too in this realm. That made me hate her more and I would let her pay for what she'd done.

To the victims.

To me.

As both of them were standing near the edge of the cliff, an evil idea flashed in my transparent skull. In a flash, I disappeared from the place where I was standing and reappeared behind the boy. Kayla's eyes bulged in shock and I really hoped that they would fall out of those sockets. Before she could even utter something to the boy, I'd already pushed him on his back until he slammed forward and pushed her hard.

Losing her balance, Kayla tripped and fell down off the cliff. Her scream would be deafening if it wasn't because of the trees and bushes set in this dream. I watched as she fell, reaching out one of her hands upwards to grab something but literally, there's nothing designed for her to save herself.

"Should I help her?" I asked the boy but ended up being pinned on the ground. "Get off me, Clerence," I deadpanned as he smirked.

Is this how Kayla wishes Clerence to be?

To be her boyfriend; to be a bad boy; to be a jerk?

Her jerk?

"I thought you will jump down the cliff with her." Knowing that that wasn't the real Clerence just like in real life, I judged daringly with a mocking expression. He was shocked by my word-of-mouth, but the look was swiftly changed to a smirk again.

"I don't like her," he answered blatantly. "I like you."

What?!

Alright Sasha, this isn't real. This is only a dream and this won't be real!

As I'd spent too much time getting lost with my thoughts, this gave enough time for the boy above me to smash his lips down on mine. It was then my turn to widen my eyes in shock as I could feel him smirk while his tongue touched my lower lip. Soon, I got used to his sudden love attack and let myself melt under his grasp.

I knew so well deep in my beating heart that even though I wanted to escape, it wouldn't be easy. Furthermore, being kissed by my crush wasn't a bad thing after all. Not long after, I began to return the kiss by biting onto his lower lip gently. Our heads adjusted from side to side while our eyes were shut during the process until the bad boy pulled away first, gasping in delight.

My mind had gone blank ever since he kissed me by force. As I fluttered my eyelids, all I could do was stare at him in daze and awe. His delicate yet masculine visage was a flush of red and I believed so was mine too, judging by the heat I could feel on both sides of my cheeks.

Kayla's scream was unheard since who knew. Ignoring the fake Clerence, I tilted my head skywards to talk to her. "How does it feel to have your precious boyfriend taken, bitch?" I asked boldly.

No response.

Probably dead or awaked due to the fall.

As I was about to shrug that annoyed feeling away, her response was finally audible. "Get the fuck away from my Clerence, of course I am not happy, you pigheaded frog." Appearing from nowhere, her words sounded like swords to my heart but I was not as weak as she thought anymore.

"But too bad, he doesn't like you," I cooed at her mockingly until she groaned angrily. "He likes me."

"Fuck off and you know what, you better be dead before I see you again, Sasha!" Kayla hissed without even thinking twice. And I had had enough of her narcissistic and selfish behaviour.

"Shut up bitch." Surprisingly, these words were spoken by Clerence. "I am not your Clerence, so the person who should fuck off is you, Kayla Jennings." I couldn't believe my own ears and eyes when looking at the bad boy, who was protecting me from Kayla's assault in her dream.

But is this really a dream?

I couldn't help but began to doubt. Hey, that rhymed.

"How dare you?!" She roared furiously when stomping towards us from behind, her legs were dirty with mud.

"How dare you?!" Both Clerence and I protested when Kayla responded with a look as if we'd slapped her on the face. In a meantime, I was surprised as well because I'd prepared to finish this mission alone without any help. With our strong looks of anger plastered on our visages, the pair of us were facing the girl, whose legs turned wobbly because of heartbreak.

"You two dickheads are so mean!"

"And so are you!" We argued in unison again. This time, even fiercer.

"Oh and is that a scratch mark on your arm, Kayla?" I asked, pointing at the red palm-shaped mark. Following my pointing finger, the bad girl averted her gaze to her arm and back to me, her expression was the mixture of confusion and anger and frustration and almost all the negative emotions you could name. "I did that to you on that roller coaster." I said while intended to provoke her.

Her breath became unsteady when all her expressions were compressed into one – terrified. It took only a few seconds before she opened her mouth widely and screamed, tossing me out of her dream as I'd scared her to the extent of regaining consciousness.

Isabelle was standing by the corner, waiting for me. She gave me a big thumbs up while her beautiful eyes held mine. A huge smile was rewarded to me. When watching the scared, sweaty and gasping Kayla, I couldn't deny that happiness wasn't the only feeling I felt, yet a mixture of satisfaction and excitement.

Moreover, I felt curious at the same time as well regarding Clerence's characteristics in that dream. A part of me wished that all of those were real.

I bounced up from the bed after witnessing the scene. First, Sasha pushed Kayla down the cliff by pushing Clerence from behind. Then, Clerence kissed her on the ground. And then, the pair of them had a tongue fight with Kayla until my eyelids snapped open due to Kayla's extremely loud scream.

My shirt was soaked with sweat as I gasped in shock. My head was spinning when I tried to figure out what the heck I'd just seen.

"Do you enjoy the show, brother?" It's a familiar voice.

With my heart skipping swiftly, I looked around to find the sound source. My breath turned shaky when I could feel hints of cold wind brushing against my neck.

"I miss you, brother," said the voice again from nowhere, as if it was ringing in my head.

With my feelings mixed with fear and excitement, I faced the air and asked, "Isa?" An echoing giggle answered, sending shivers down my spine. Isa was my little sister. Twenty years ago, she didn't make it through a car accident. She died, yet she couldn't reincarnate due to one mistake - she cursed at our mum.

"My dear brother," she said again. "I miss you so much." Her voice was loud and sonorous.

I could feel her presence, yet I couldn't see her. The memory of seeing her school bus burn in the news sent a pang to my chest as tears began to burn my eyes. Hoping that she could hear me, my mouth trembled with the word I wanted to say to her so much, "I miss you too, Isabelle."
