11 CHAPTER 11: The Prank

[Sasha Shadows]

My mood was ruined at the sight of Kayla. From the moment when Clerence bumped into her until when the rest of the boys caught up, I couldn't describe how desperate I'd wanted to squeeze her annoying figure to death as if she's a random bug.

I couldn't forget how busybody, judgemental, demanding and mean Kayla was when it came to stalking and eavesdropping the boys' daily plans. Not only that, she would post things about the boys' whereabouts when she had the chance to take a picture from a secret corner.

Just as I thought, I could see her bracing her ear to eavesdrop about the boys' discussion when they were not facing her. Before my mood darkened entirely, my episodic memory began to play the moment when I wrote down my fifth wish - seek revenge on Kayla in every form.

If she's foolish enough to appear there unarmed and alone, why not I grab the chance and have a double-wish granting night?

With the thought shining bright like a bulb in my mind, a smirk eventually creeped across my face. And without a second thought, I put out my leg and tripped her when she's about to catch up with the boys.

That was what she did to me during the Orientation Week.

"I thought you said you're coming here to play," I mumbled to her with my hands crossed when eyeing the boys' reaction - following their startled expression, all of them were hiding their laughing figure as they clamped their palms on their mouths.

"Ow..." Kayla's whine pulled my attention back to her as I noticed her gaze on the four. But just as Hans was about to walk forward and lend a helping hand, a random stranger had already taken the lead. Kayla looked a little upset, yet she still thanked the person who helped her. The behaviour was totally opposite to her arrogant aura when she's in college.

As the man began checking her out to make sure she'd gotten no major injuries, the boys decided to leave as awkwardness slowly dominated the atmosphere. As for Kayla, she panicked when the only thing she could do was to watch them leave. As I left with the boys, I could see her knees bleeding. Although she'd tasted her own medicine, I wasn't feeling as happy as expected. Nevertheless, I felt a little hurt when her helpless appearance led me back to the memory of my old self.

"Don't let me see you elsewhere again, bitch," I scorned at her before catching up to the boys. As I was approaching them rather swiftly, I accidentally caused a brief blow of cold wind onto the back of their neck. They shivered upon the sudden chilliness, yet the feeling didn't bother them much.

Soon, they'd arrived at the roller coaster station as I could see them entering through the unlocked metal gate without even queueing. Whilst I penetrated through the metal gate, I noticed Clerence's face showing a lot of reluctance and unwillingness as the others forced him into one of the seats.

But when the boys'd settled down, I saw Kayla and her gang of girls approaching the gate with tickets paid. Once she walked past the little entrance with her backpack slinged on one of her shoulders, the other girls followed with their hips swinging from side to side.

Their faces eventually brightened up with grins when they noticed the boys. "Hi guys!" greeted Kayla to the boys when they nodded at her in response. A small smile appeared on their faces for only a few seconds as all of them knew how bad Kayla's personality was.

I was so annoyed that I rolled my eyes skywards, almost turning myself into a true scary ghost. Since there were three girls in Kayla's group, it spared me an empty seat beside Kayla. "You're not going to have the boys alone here, bitch," I blurted out in a threatening voice as I settled myself down. However, Kayla bulged her eyes in shock before turning to the girls sitting behind.

"What did you guys just say?" she questioned with her eyebrows furrowed deep. Apparently, she was triggered by the words I said since no one ever dared to speak to her like that in history.

"What do you mean?" asked the girl with chocolate brown hair. Confusion was written all over their faces. "We'd just talked about Dance Club and the song we're going to perform next," she admitted without stuttering, indicating that she's not lying.

"Are you okay?" asked the blonde one with concern. She appeared to be the shortest among the others in Kayla's group, yet she had the most admirers compared to the other two.

I had no interest in introducing her so please don't ask me for her phone number.

One minute of hesitation ticktocked the time away while Kayla eyed the two with suspicion. "I'm okay," she turned back to face the front. Due to the seatbelt, she found herself unable to lean forward and talk to the boys. Soon, the roller coaster jerked with a long screech after the staff announced for everyone to get ready.

"Oh my g-gosh, it-it's moving." The shaking voice belonged to Clerence while the others snickered. Perplexingly, his heartbeat vibrated through my ear drums and it was accelerating alongside with the speeding roller coaster. "Oh god, it's going up!! It's going up!!!"

I giggled before turning to see Kayla, whose action fumed me with anger again because she was trying to film everything that happened to the boys in front. Reacting under conditioned response, my hand slapped her phone away in a nick of time.

The girl froze when watching her phone falling from the higher ground. "MY PHONE!!! ARHHH!!" she exclaimed when the roller coaster slipped down the track swiftly, causing her to shout loudly afterwards.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" I laughed so happily until she widened her eyes once again. She turned her head from left to right as if she could hear my voice. Her hair covered her face when her hands were busy holding onto the handles.

I think she could hear me.

[Third Person POV]

All of them, including Sasha had become a great crowd of shouting messes. In fact, the situation worsened when the coaster spun 360° for two times. Although Kayla tried not to yell so loud because of those boys, she failed as her instincts forced her to grab the handle and shout like a crazy bitch.

The reason why Sasha didn't get down from the roller coaster was because she didn't want to. She's been craving for the stimulating feeling ever since the last time she rode on a roller coaster. She led out a genuinely delighted smile when putting both of her arms in the air, feeling the strong air rushing towards her face with her eyes closed.

Aside from that, the four boys in front were also shouting like maniacs. Their voice frequency was almost similar to the girls'. After a few sharp turns and 360° spins, the long vehicle finally stopped. Everyone was relaxed but with their faces showing different types of expressions.

Clarence looked pale with his altered mental status when Greg slapped Clerence's back and woke him up from his loosen train of thoughts. The poor boy jumped upon the contact.

"C'mon, let's play other games, shall we?" suggested Greg while the startled boy nodded in agreement.

As Kayla freed herself from the safety belts, the first thing she wanted to do was to find her phone. Her eyes brimmed with tears. "No," she sobbed, smearing mascara all over her face when she wiped her tears. The phone in her hands was broken into half.

"That serves you right for judging and humiliating people weaker than you," said Sasha while she pointed at Kayla with her index fingers, purely satisfied with her encounters.

[Kayla]

I could feel the strong pain invading my eyes when my tears became impatient. Holding my broken phone in my palms, my vision turned blurry while my hands were shaky. To be honest, I couldn't believe to see it broken in such a way, since I'd just used it for three days.

"It's okay, Kayla. You can request for a new phone since your birthday is around the corner," Dyna the blondie suggested when I sniffled with a frown. We were then walking out of the roller coaster station in slow paces as Dyna patted my back gently. My head was still lowered towards the phone pieces in my hands.

"B-but I love th-this phone s-so much..." I uttered through my sob until my voice came out as a whimper. "My ex gave it to me...

"Oh please, Kayla. Haven't you gotten over it yet?" Elina, the brown haired girl asked with her head tilted in disbelief. "What about Clerence, I thought you have a crush on him."

"Of course I am," I admitted unwillingly through gritted teeth. "But this phone is super convenient though."

The two girls only shook their heads and rolled their eyes skywards upon my words. After several times of wiping, my tears were finally dry. But suddenly, Dyna pulled my left hand with the expression of shock written all over her slightly make-uped face. "Oh my god Kayly…" her voice showed how horrified she was. "Look."

Then, she let Elina examine the bruise marks as Dyna held my arm. As I registered the shape of the bruise mark, chills ran down my spine while cold sweat began to drip-drop down my forehead.

That mark...

It shaped like… like a hand!

Someone, or something must have grabbed me during the roller coaster ride. And I was totally unaware of it.

The mark was fading like how wounds healed in fairy tales. "Oh no, we need to go to church now," Dyna said hurriedly when I watched the boys leave without me once again. A part of me wanted to follow them, but it wasn't the right time.

Memories on the roller coaster came flashing like the shutter of a digital camera. And what came next was a shudder that ran down my spine. "We do need to go to church," I babbled because of fear. "And I mean now."

_____

The three of us walked out of the church with guilt running past our eyes. I knew it was a shame for me to ask for forgiveness every time I'd bullied someone.

But I just couldn't help it.

The feeling of being stronger than anyone else was addicting, which made me continue to do so even though I knew it was wrong.

The thing you need is not holy water, but the forgiveness from the ones you had offended, Miss Jennings.

The pastor's advice rang in my head even though I'd reached home. As I slid into my Mickey Mouse pajamas, I couldn't stop myself from rethinking about how the others communicated with me, including Elina and Dyna.

Was I being that self-centered towards everyone? Even towards Elina and Dyna?

Was I that annoying until someone's soul wanted to seek revenge on me?

The bloody scenes I'd watched in movies began to project themselves throughout my head, leading me to shiver in fright. "The reason why people died was because they killed the victim, well I didn't kill anyone, so I will be fine, right?" I said to myself while looking around subconsciously. The feeling of being watched was a little bit intense.

I remembered myself bullying Sasha last week. And she didn't even have the guts to fight back. Then, she just disappeared. No attendance, no appearance, no nothing. Slowly, I started to wonder what had happened to her.

You're not going to have the boys alone here, bitch.

To be honest, that voice sounded a little bit like Sasha's.
