Leaving California doesn't just mean 'leaving california' for Azalea. It means turning over a new leaf, not only for Azalea but for the whole dissociative system. Azalea, the ANP who is the host of the system, Chronos the primary protector of the system and the alter that holds the trauma of kidnap and violence and Maya the EP (emotional parts) of the system, holding the trauma of losing a family member.
By leaving the country where traumas have occurred, the system feels more at ease and feels like this migration will lead them into a new world where all of them can start a new journey.
Azalea steps out of the airplane onto the grounds of Shanghai, China. Skimming through the airport, she walks confidently out of the airport and into her Mercedes Maybach waiting for her. Going to the flat near the China Branch of the Lee family, Azalea gets herself mentally prepared to meet her new co-workers.
Unlike her usual cold demeanor, she fakes a more smiley and approachable demeanor. Chronos joins Azalea and shares her consciousness, this process is called co-consciousness. Normally Chronos will just let Azalea do her thing but since they just moved here, Chronos feels like he has responsibility to take care of Azalea. Sharing the body's consciousness makes it possible for Chronos to know exactly what Azalea is doing but Azalea will still be in control of the body.
Leaving the flat, on the way to the branch, Chronos gives Azalea a talk saying "Az you need to be careful okay? This is a new country, you don't know anyone here and they don't know. No matter what happens varies from your surroundings and the people around you. You must be careful! I'm giving you a heads up okay? If anything, anything at all happens, I will force myself out and take over okay?"
"Yes yes, Az knows what to do. Everything will be fine plus if anything happens I have you hehe" replied Az in her head
"What can I do with this child? *signs* Just remember to protect yourself, I will be sharing the consciousness so I got your back" said Chronos
"Yup, looks we arrived at dad's branch business"

I used some dissociative identity disorder vocabs in this chapter and I think it would be better if I explained what these vocab means.
System: System is what people dissociative refer to themselves. while talking they may use our system, we as a system, this means they are referring to every alter in the body. The inner world of that body is what they call a system.
Host: The alter/person who is in control of the body the most. The one that does most or all the daily task.
ANP: Apparently Normal Parts. this is a word used to describe an alter that holds little to no trauma. ANPs are usually the host and for this story, Azalea is the ANP of the system and she is the host.
EPs: Emotional Parts, this word is used to call alters who hold trauma. They are the ones with all the emotions. in our story Chronos and Maya are the EPs however Chronos also has another role in the system.
Primary protector: The alter that will take care and protect the system and everything in the system. In our story, Chronos is the primary protector whose job is to protect.
