Once upon a Dream

I was so in to it, that i Didn't have resistance to push him. Instead, I kissed him back. His lips slided smoothly from mine and followed my cheek, giving another kiss before he leaned against my forehead. I was breathing slowly and my eyes were shut. What have you done?! You just gave the devil a chance to get to you! Nice job, hissed the mental voice. Go away! I cried to back to the voice. Silence. Much better. Back to the real world. Damen took a step back and his hands slides from my waist and laced my fingers, and I took one step forward. This is wrong, very wrong.

This isn't how it was meant to be. I was the one who was disgusted by his personality, his proposal, so why am I here with him? The answer came slamming back, because of me. Because I couldn't keep myself away and now I had fallen for his act of kindness. Go. To. Hell. I said it loud in my head but really I wanted to yell that to his face and turn him down, make him upset, and break his pride. But I couldn't because this wasn't my type of thing, to hurt others even if they are your greatest enemy. I groaned at my lack of confidence. Damen opened his eyes and gave me a puzzled glance.

"actor when it comes to looks" I smirked.

"Why thank you," he said in sarcasm.

"What?" I glared. He gave a smug smile.

" Why so sad, princess?" he made his eyes go wide and put on an innocent smile.

"Haha. Seriously? Your a great

"It wasn't a compliment," I pointed out.

"If only I were that much of an idiot," he said calmly but their was slight anger mixed in his voice. He absently dropped my hands and put his behind his head. And then, he started humming.

I have to say, it wasn't bad at all, his voice was lovely. The thought of Damen singing a girly song, I couldn't manage to stop myself from laughing. But he didn't look back and continued with his song. I couldn't help but mach up his humming with a song.

" I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream,

I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam.

Yes, I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem,

but if I know you, I know what you'll do,

you'll lo-" I stopped, not wanting to say the 'love' word. But he did.

" You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream " he gave it an ending and then looked over his shoulder.

"Hm, not bad," he said.

"Thank you," I blushed. His eyes glanced up at the sun, setting slowly.

"Lets get you back home, princess," he teased.

He helped me up to sit behind his back and this time he didn't stop Blackwel from running fast since the sun had set, leaving a whitish line in the horizon. We made it home and our parents were waiting outside. Uh-oh. Not good. Damen took my hand and I carefully stepped off from Blackwel's back.

"I think we've waited long enough," said Idris to father in an impatient voice. Father cleared his throat an I knew what was coming.

"Marissa we- eh have a surprise for you" he struggled for words. My heart was beating fast and I was sure everyone could hear it because Damen frowned at me and whispered in my ear, "No need to be nervous, it's just a little announcement,"

Finally father said it, "Marissa, your going to marry Damen"
