1 The Accident

It was just a normal sunny day. A young man named Jack was just taking a walk through the city. Bag in his hand, an unnerving day of college was recently just finished. "Alright, so I have that work on Languages, the code building project, the advanced calculus exam to study for..." Jack said to himself, thinking about the absurd amount of schoolwork he has to do. "No, wait... Ah damnit. I forgot my Math notebook," he continued, in despair over the fact he can't study for the exam.

Reaching a crosswalk at a red light, his house was just another 2 blocks away. He blessed his lucky stars that his house was close to the school. When the light turned green, he walked over the crosswalk, trying to not appear hurried. On the way, he managed to bump into a girl he wasn't really paying attention to. "Oh, sorry," he said. She replied "No, it's alright," and continued walking.

Jack simply played it cool and just tried to keep walking. He stopped all of two steps later, as he noticed a speeding truck, heading straight for the girl! Whether on part of a negligent driver, or a truck too big, the driver didn't seem to notice her. Thinking brashly, he ran over to the girl and pushed her away from the crosswalk. She turned around, surprised and a bit angry that he just did that. Before she could complain, however, in a split second the truck hits Jack, knocking him down, and was promptly driven over by a neglectful driver, who probably thought he hit a cat or dog.

To Jack, the world was fading in and out. His body was hurting all over. He didn't know how he was still conscious, and if this was some kind of cruel prank on him by the universe. All he could see were blurs, and he could barely hear anything with the ringing in his ears. He saw red puddles right next to him, which can only be assumed to be his blood. When he tried looking up, he saw many figures, just standing there. He didn't want to die. Not yet. But there wasn't a thing he could do.

And then, the world went dark.
