1 Chapter 1- One more year

27th August, 2046 3:00pm London time

I love the smell of roasted homemade bread on the family country-house in autumn. The rustling of leaves in the humid breeze of August. The fact of leaving London this year for going to school in America bugs my mind. My mom said I could "make new friends and meet new people". The truth is that I don't understand people who leave their countries to study somewhere else. It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard about.

The voice of my mom echoes through the house.

–Lunch is ready!

Well, the truth is that I only call it country-house because I like this place more than our regular apartment which lies in the street riot of London, this house is a three story wooden shack with an amazing porch. The porch is my favorite part of the house, sometimes I sit there for hours lost in my own thoughts. It also has a huge garden, luckily, it's not my responsibility to rack the dry leaves that it collects at this time of the year. I usually am too absorbed in my thoughts, but to be honest, almost every time I get violently taken out of my "bubble". This time, wasn't the exception. I find myself walking away from the porch, my tiny slice of heaven, and opening the front door to get inside the kitchen.

–Hurry up honey!– says my mom with my toddler sister Kelly on one arm while serving breakfast on the small wooden table.

–Coming mom!– I say raising my voice a little as my sister sticks her tongue at me the second I enter the kitchen. She's very annoying. And she already manifested her superpowers only being two years old. The little monster.

–Ally. I know that frown. What's going on sweetie?

–Nothin' mom, just thinking. I'm going to leave tomorrow. I don't want you to misunderstand this, I really want to go, it is a really big opportunity. But I'm leaving everything here, you, Kelly, this house, my friends.–I continue after a profound a deep sigh– I'm going to miss you guys.

–Don't worry, tomorrow will be a great day, you'll see.

I woke up the next day drenched in sweat. I'm really nervous. The U.S.'s SHC (Superheroes' Campus) is one of the most prestigious schools in the world. Either way, I wasn't eager to leave at all.

–Come sweetheart, I'll drive you to the airport.– says my mother after having breakfast.

–I'll go fetch my suitcase.– I tell her.

I go upstairs and grab the bright blue suitcase as I take one last look at my room. These are my last moments here until I come back in six years. I'll be twenty-two by then.

After the long trip to the airport, and two unbearable hours of waiting, boarding time knocks at the door. I approach my mom and hug her as tightly as I can. After all, I won't be seeing her in a very long time.

–Allison Mia Mclaey, you must be strong.

–Yes mom–I say as my voice breaks and tears run down my face– I will be, I promise.

With a stream of tears running down my face, I walk into the plane and sit down at my place.

–Goodbye London.– I say as I wipe the tears out of my face. With a gloomy expression, I take out my phone and text my friend Lyla who also will be starting at the SHC with me.

Ally: Hey there

Lyla: Well hello Ms. Trouble

Ally: I'm on my way there

Lyla: You better get here today because the entrance for newbies tomorrow has been cut to 8:00am. Get as much sleep as you can right now.

Ally: Well then. I'll see you tomorrow.

Lyla: See ya.

I turned off my phone as the plane started to take off. I took out my neck pillow and fell fast asleep much of the trip. I woke up with the voice in the plane saying.

–Attention all passengers. We're approaching the Boston Logan International Airport. Hoping you have enjoyed your trip, your captain.

I was feeling very nervous and dizzy. My whole life I never had gotten out of England. It was very confusing. Suddenly I thought that coming to America hadn't been the right choice.

The next day

Lyla sent me an address to the SHC, but honestly, I couldn't be more lost. I didn't want to do it, but it was 7:00 already. If I was late on my first day, well, let's just say it wouldn't be a very good first impression. I soared into the air with a very loud whoosh. After what felt like an eternity, and really was half an hour, I managed to find the building and land a few blocks beside it. When I landed, well, more accurately stumbled and barely not died by crashing into a pile of trash bags, I walked towards the entrance, where Lyla and I agreed to meet today. When I saw her she gave me a nice hug and smiled nicely at me.

–You flew here, right?

–How would you know?– I ask her.

–Your hair, it always gets all messed up when you fly.

–F**k, you're right.– I finish as she passes me a small makeup mirror, and indeed, my hair was a complete and utter mess. After a few minutes, I managed to tie it in a very untidy braid that fell to my shoulder.

–Oh right, how could I forget. Ally, I wanted to introduce you to someone. It's a friend I met a few months before you arrived. Lemme see if I can spot her.– As she said it, she strode off to the crowded entrance of the SHC, leaving me completely alone. Surely she came back a few minutes later with another girl by her side.

It was like a completely opposite version of me. She had bright, chestnut hair with a blonde glint. She had almond eyes and a very thin nose. She was all smiley and cheerful. Something in my gut told me that her amazingly pale skin wasn't as normal as it would seem. She reminded me of a kpop artist from the 2010s, Min Yoongi I believe was his name. Then it hit me. When she opened her mouth in a broad smile, was the final piece that definitely showed that she wasn't human at all. Two small fangs, small but rather pointy looking, lay where her normal teeth should be. I couldn't be 100 percent sure of it, but with all I was seeing, the pale skin, the fangs, her eyes that seemed to glimmer unnaturally, I was positive of it.

–Ally, this is my friend Tess.–she said while laying her arm on the girl's shoulder.

–Nice to meet you!– she said smiling with her eyes, something about the form of her eyes was also curious, not in a supernatural way, but curious. She didn't seem to have very American features. Her eyes were Asian-like. She also bowed to me instead to shaking my hand or high fiving.

–Um, hi.–I said with an awkward smile.

–I think you broke her Tess.–snickered Lyla

–Yah! I was only being polite Lyla unnie.

–Are you Korean?–I asked her nicely.

–Neh.

–Im sorry?

–Neh means yes in Korean Ally.–Lyla said trying to hold back her laughter.– Don't worry, you'll get used to it once you know her more.

–Right, so, how did you two mee...–I was about to say when the roaring of a motorcycle nearby shut me up. Coming from the street in front of the main gate, was a big, black Harley Davidson mounted by a kid who looked no older than me. When he took his helmet off to reveal his bright blonde hair, and his blueish eyes, half of the girls around squealed like little girls. As he walked down to the entrance, giggles and whispers followed him. To me, he wasn't more than a show-off. But the worst part came when he passed by us. Just when he seemed to walk by, he turned on his feet and walked towards me. Instantly he said the douchiest pick up line I've ever heard.

–Have we met before? Something tells me I've seen your beautiful face.– he said winking.

-I think I would remember seeing you. Your oxygenated furball wouldn't be something easily forgotten.

–Just like your slit lips.–he said.

–You're in for it, you little piece of sh*t.–I told him while reaching inside my jacket. I was about to take my knife out when Lyla noticed and pulled me back.

–Come with me you suicidal girl.–she said while pulling me towards a tree.

–What the f**k is wrong with you?– I asked angrily, one more second and I would have sliced him to pieces.

–You surely have a way of choosing the wrong people to mess with.–she said.

–What do you mean?

–Simple. Do you know the piece of sh*t you almost sheesh ke bab'd?

–Does it f***ing matter?

–Yes, because that idiot, is the son of one of the sickest millionaires in America! And if you as much as bruise him, there would be a price to your head.

–What's the brat's name?

–Noah, Noah Duster.–Tess said blushing aggressively.

–So Noah, you're in for a thrill.– I finished.
