7 Tongue tied

Chapter 7: Tongue tied.

I have just delivered a very long speech to these people to see reasons with me about not being the culprit, all to no avail. I kept quiet and waited patiently for Molly to come with my laptop. "Miss Wilson, you said you had your laptop with you." Said the principal. "No. I said my best friend had gone to my house to bring it."

"Don't you think you're wasting a little bit of our time?." Dean asked. I looked at him, very angry that he was taking things too far, I mean if he wanted his daughter to go in my place to the spelling bee competition, he would have told me and I won't mind backing out, how am I not sure he wasn't the one trying to frame me up?. Such a pathetic man!!

Molly walked in and looked at me. She had my laptop with her. I was very happy, at least they will believe I had no hand in stripping money from the fund. Chloe took the laptop to the principal.

"This laptop clearly has a disk inside." I look at Molly. "This is not my laptop?." I whispered. "I couldn't find yours so I brought mine." Gosh!. What kind of girl is this?. "Why did you bring my laptop?." I almost shouted.

"Come on, to buy time and think of how to escape this message." I bit my lower lip and turned to look at them. "Uh..m. I..ca..n't.."

"I have it." A voice said from the threshold. This is the moment when that voice made my heart beat louder, I slowly turned to look at the owner, and found Stefan.

A weird chill ran through my veins. At this moment, I am euphoric. I think whatever I feel for him is getting stronger every hour that passes.

I collected the laptop from him and mumbled a thank you before handling it to Chloe. "Okay. We are trying to believe you but it's possible you had the disk ripped off the laptop."

"But then, as you claimed to have been framed, do you know anyone that must have tried to set you up?" The dean asked.

"No." I replied.

"What about Julia?. You have problems with her, don't you?" Chloe asked and I glared at her. "She asked you a question, Miss Wilson." Her dad added.

"You don't fucking expect me to answer that. Do you?" I asked, "Language, Ellie." Mom warned. "No. Don't use the f..word, sweetheart." The principal puts in.

"I'm sorry but if the dean thinks he's right about this question, why don't I ask him if Chloe set him up?." I jibed.

"You're being revealing to my dad, Miss Wilson." Chloe interjected. I smiled, "Am I?. So you think I am, why don't we keep my sister out of this?." I looked at mom as silence fell into the room, mom hadn't spoken a word about this and I wondered what she must be thinking right now.

"Mrs Wilson, do you have anything to say?" The principal demanded. Mom nodded, "Yeah. I want to thank the principal for calling me up to this meeting, and..I wanna say that I'm gonna pay every dime which was stolen though I know my girl is innocent."

I was proud of my mom, and i was relieved mom believed me. As long as my mom believed me, well these people should fuck off.

But then, to pay for what I didn't do, oh mom. "Miss Wilson, though your mom voluntarily decided to pay up for the money, we've concluded that you're stripped of your position and handed to the detention class till we find the culprit."

"Why am I being punished for what I didn't do?." I questioned them. The dean looked at me, "Because you are guilty and you don't have any valid evidence to prove your innocence. I'm sorry, Mrs Wilson but we go by the rules."

As we all stepped out of the school to where mom packed her car, I turned to look at mom, Stefan and Molly had given us privacy to talk.

"Mom. I'm sorry." I apologized. I feel bad that I stressed her into coming to my school.

"Meet me at home." She stepped into her car. "I didn't do anything wrong." She ignored me and drove off. "Damn!!." I rolled my eyes and started walking toward Molly who was surprisingly alone.

"Where's Stefan?" I asked as we started walking toward the school building. She stopped behind me and I turned back to look at her. "I don't know. He just left.." She replied with a confused look. I knew she wanted to say something. "Okay. Spill it!."

"Fine. I don't know how Stefan got to know about the laptop and how he happened to find it." I nodded affirmatively. "Well then, that's something we have to go find out. "

I found Stefan sitting across from his brother in the lunchroom and I ended up being so afraid to approach them. I turn to Molly and whispered.``Stay here." She nodded and gave me a look of 'All the best.'

I walk towards their table, feeling very nervous and worried that I might screw up in front of him. I've felt like whenever I'm too close to him, I end up messing myself up and running away like a moron.

This is actually the first time in my life that I'm having weird feelings to the opposite sex. I've never been so tonque tied and stupid. I've always taken care of the way I act toward a male.

"Hey, Stefan." I awkwardly greeted them fidgeting with my fingers and never looking up at their faces. "Hi, Miss Wilson. Any problem?." He rushed in quickly. "I wanna ask you a question, please." Wow, Ellie, wow. You look like an idiot now.

"Are you okay?. And why are you not looking up at us?" He asked. I bit my lower lip not knowing what to say. Oh gosh, I can't do this. "I have to go now, bye." I ran off, not heeding to his voice asking me to wait. I went in front of Molly who stood with her hand akimbo. "I couldn't do it. I'm sorry." She breathes out. "This is bad."
