9 Time to move

Chapter 9: Time to move.

My mom is standing by the door, looking at me as I come closer to the front porch of the mansion. I had forgotten about my punishment with the school board after my subtle encounter with Stefan back at the car. I stood in front of her, waiting to be interrogated before finally let into the house. "Ellie." She called me. "I absolutely think you should leave your school."

"What do you mean?" My eye brows furrow, confusion washes over me. The only sound being heard was the continuous tapping of her fingers at the door. "Why would you say so?."

"Child," She strode in front me, staring at me with worried eyes. Sometimes, I feel she was hiding something from me, but you never can tell. "It has become dangerous." I moved away from her. "Mom. This is the fifth time I'm changing the location of study and this.." I pointed at her, "And this flimsy excuse is what I get. What exactly is the problem?"

I fucking went to 4-5 schools as i grew up from kindergarten to grade nine. Now I've settled back in WLHS thinking there'd be no reason to move out and here she is trying to convince me because of an incident that happened in school.

"You're leaving the school and that's final." Mom can't finalize this, not yet until she tells me why we are moving.

"What if I refuse to move this time?" I was pissed. "You have no say on that." Julia said coming into our discussion. She was beaming happily as she thought she had finally convinced mom to enrol me into another school.

I glared dangerously at her feeling very angry at how my mom would make a decision without asking for my opinion. "You both have no say." My eyes lit up and I looked back at my mom. "Do you mean I'm included?" Julia asked her.

"Yes. You both are moving. That's final." Mom said and walked inside. I looked at the boiling Julia, and scoffed, shaking my head.

Almost immediately, She grabbed my arm. "I've had it up here with you, Ellie. To be frank with you, if you don't want to see the other side of me, you undo what you've done because if we finally move out to a new location because of you again, i won't let you rest, i repeat, i won't let you rest." Julia sneered and walked back inside. Wtf!. Everyone keeps threatening me.

We sat and ate breakfast the next morning without Julia. Mom couldn't stop telling me how our new school would be totally fun for us. I kept cursing and muttering slowly to myself about why mom was doing this. It seems like whenever dad goes on a long business trip, she finds it hard to keep us in a place. We moved like we're being pursued out of our house on base.

Joyce walked down the stairs with a frown plastered on her face, only God knows what Julia had said to her.

"She refused?" Mom asked casually. "Yes. She threw the food in the waste bin." The poor house help replied.

Mom said nothing, she sipped her coffee and stood up, she started walking upstairs.

In a short while, there was yelling and scolding in her room and the next thing I heard was a hot slap. I gasped. It hasn't gotten to that.

Mom walked downstairs and sat in her seat. "As I was saying, the school has…" She started as if nothing had happened upstairs. I was too shocked to speak.

"Mom. Please, I like our school. It's literally the best of the best. Please I promise not to cause trouble again."

She cleared her throat and dropped the mug.

"Sweetheart. I didn't want you to move because you caused trouble in school, I wanted you to leave because it's not safe in your school. I knew there was trouble once I stepped into your school. I smelt it and it isn't very good for you. There's a problem beyond me and all we can do right now, is to run, for our lives."

"Do you mean our lives are in danger?" I asked, confirming that mom was hiding something from us. She went back to her coffee without giving me a reply. But then, I can use my powers to get my answers.

For the fact that I do not use my powers very often made it hard for me to connect to it.

I closed my eyes and tried reading her mind. I snapped my eyes open and I saw a large wall blocking me from her mind. How's she able to do that?No human can do that. Humans have no power.

She was busy with her meal and doesn't look concerned. "There's a problem." I muttered inaudibly to myself. Could it be that my powers are fading?.

"Get your ass off the chair and go to school." She commanded. I sprang up to my feet and kissed her forehead. "Bye, mom." I said and walked away.

I opened my locker and grabbed out my notebook. I turned and found Tyson with the vase of flowers I ordered for Molly this morning. "Good morning." I smiled and collected it. "The flower's cool. Is it for Stefan Brown?" I scoffed, "In your dreams." I chuckled.

We looked at the entrance and ever glowing Molly walked in. I left Tyson and went to her. "Hey girlfriend." I said, smiling at her. She looked confused at me and at the flowers. "Are you proposing to Stefan?" She asked with a frown. "Ew!...That's gross. It's for you. It's the symbol of our friendship. And tadaaa!!" I showed them our movie tickets. She collected the tickets, "Wow, I love you, Ellie. Wow, you really made my day." She jumped on me happily. "Come on. It's for us. You are the best friend ever."

We looked at Tyson who stood smiling at us, "This is so cool. Don't forget I made reservations for us at the entry, I'll come see you after class." I told them, remembering I was late to the detention class.
