20 Got myself busy

Chapter 20: Got myself busy.

My breathing ceased and I felt a pang of pain in my heart. Suddenly I decided not to digest everything into my system. I turned around and emptied everything in the sink.

I rinsed my mouth and finally pushed the door open.

There was a sudden stop to the movement of Stefan when we both looked at each other. His face remained expressionless until I started to glare at him. A cleared throat from the background brings me out of my trance to squeeze life out of him.

I looked at Cali and smiled. "Thanks, dear. I feel grateful." She smiled lightly and said 'my pleasure.' before leaving through the door. I turned to Stefan instantly. But the courage to talk to him fell and I ended up saying "I need some clothes."

He said nothing but rather went into his closet and came out with clothes. An overly sized polo with blue pants. I collected the clothes and examined them, before I shrug off the thought to ask him questions that I might regret in future.

"I'll get some maids to shop for you later in the day. Meanwhile, I'll allow you to eat and we'll talk later." He said before leaving through the doorway. I rolled my eyes and put my head over the polo.

I stayed on the bed and waited patiently for Stefan to come. Staying indoors had never been my thing, especially doing nothing actually. I was always out with friends or plump down on my bed with books.

I stepped out of the bed and walked over to open the curtains so I could get busy by looking out to my environment. I simply wanted to plan my escape after knowing that my soulmate rejected me. He simply doesn't want me closer and that further motivated me to escape.

When I opened the curtain, I was overjoyed to find a balcony behind it. I pushed open the glass door and walked into the balcony.

It has a long and spacious balcony that you can turn into an outdoor living room of sorts. A rug, a console and centre table with a variety of seating arrangements sits by the corner and cushioned stools and ottomans as well as chairs sit at the other corner making it easier to enjoy a bird's eye view.

Looking out to the tall magnificent surrounding buildings, everyone going about their daily works, it was like a whole community over here. I couldn't help but wonder what humans or supernatural beings lived here. I noticed that in all buildings that I've seen so far, I find armed men guiding it carefully.

I heard the door open and I turned. I find Stefan back in the room with a bag. He looked round the room carefully until his eyes met my structure at the balcony. I sighed and walked back to the room, covering back the curtains. He ran his hand through his stylishly carved hair and sat on his sleepy-couch that I presumed he slept on yesterday.

"I'm very busy and that's why I haven't attended to you officially. I'm presently leading the town until the master arrives.

You're alive because no one has seen your kind before, and that's why you are to stay here till master G comes home. You're free for now but not entirely free. You'll be punished for trying to help the evil siren attack us in the future, moreover if ever you're found guilty of harm to anybody, I will have no choice but to apprehend you."

"I want to see Cathy." I said.

He shakes his head sideways and that's when I noticed the mark on the side of his neck. He had a birthmark which looked like it was tattooed but isn't. It had a symbol of an x. I obviously had the mark at the back of my neck. I wanted to have a clearer view but he continued speaking "You are not allowed to leave the room. " His phone beeped and he looked at it and frowned.

He stood up and started walking towards the door. "If you need anything, the servants are always at your service." He walks out before I try to ask him to send some books to keep me busy.

I ended up falling asleep and a knock at the door alerted me. The door opens, and a maid walks in with a tray. I didn't bother to ask this one question after remembering what I first did in the morning. She walks out leaving me in the room again.

I sat myself up and rubbed my sleepy eyes. I was about to open the food when another maid entered with her hands filled with books. She dropped it on the bed. "Miss Cali asks me to bring you books. She further said if you need anything, that you should convey messages to her." I smiled and looked at the books on the bed. How does she fucking know what I need?.

"Thanks. You don't know how much this means to me. I'm very bored of staring at the ceiling, sleeping and walking around in this goddamn room."

I went through the books one after the other before an idea pops into my head. "Do you have any books about the witch's existence?"

She looks suspiciously at me. I bit my lower lip, and apologized.

It didn't take long for me to finally understand the maids were not nice to me. I was avoided like a plague and I was glad for someone like Cali.
