2 At Lunch

Chapter 2: At lunch

The bell rang and I heaved a long sigh. The class was really a long one, that I almost slept off, which was all weird to me. I've never lost interest in class, be it any subject, but here I am, dozing off, which was an effect of having a troubled sleep last night.

"Miss Wilson." Mrs Addison calls from the front of the class. I stood up with my textbook and walked towards her, the new guy by her side.

"Yes, Mrs Addison."

"Yup. This is Stefan Brown. You'll take him round the school and update him on how things work over here" I looked at Stefan and he smirked. "This is the most brilliant thing we have in the school. That's why I assigned you to her. If you have any problem, you know where to find me." She said, referring to Stefan. "Thanks Mrs. Addie."

"It's Mrs Addison." She corrected me.

"Arm...sorry. Mrs Addison." She smiled and walked out of the class leaving me and Stefan.

"Uhm. uh will show you around at lunch."

"Okay." He mumbled and I walked past him.

"Uhm..Miss Wilson." His cool voice called me and I stopped and turned.

"Yeah."

"What class do you have now?." I checked my wrist watch. "It's 9:00am. Math"

"Math?. I have that too."

"Well then. I'll have to get my note at my locker. Do you mind waiting?"

"Let's go together." I shrugged and we left.

~

We walked for a while in silence until he finally spoke up. "You live around here?" He asked. I looked amused and gave him a side lip smile. "I should ask you that, you know."

"Y..eah. Kinda. We moved out when I was little, so we're back now, for a while though."

"For a while?."

"My dad would call us back when he wanted to." He replied.

I stopped in front of my locker and turned. "Why are you suddenly back in town?" I asked casually.

"To look for my mom." He looked down when he said that and I felt guilty for ever prying on his private life. I turned back and opened my locker. I grabbed out my math textbook and closed it behind.

"Having fun?" I heard an unusual familiar voice behind me. I turned and found Julia and her friends.

"What're you doing here?. Julia" I breathed out and asked.

"I see you're out with this handsome dude." She came very close to my ear and whispered. "Does he know you have a boyfriend?" I frowned.

"Stop fucking with me." I pushed her off me. She landed on her butt and winced. "Holy shit!." I ran over to help her. " I'm sorry, I didn't know I pushed you that hard." I grabbed her arm and she tucked me away.

"Get your filthy hands off me." Her friends helped her up.

"Stop acting like you didn't do that intentionally." One of her friends yelled at me. "Isn't that right?. Bitch." The other added with a sneer.

"Enough, girls. You both saw it happen. She didn't do it on purpose." Stefan told them and walked to help me up from the floor.

Once on my feet, Julia looked at me disdainfully. "You don't know her. She's terrible, She's hypocrite. She will ruin your life just like she ruined mine." Julia said and walked away with her friends.

"Thank you." I look at Stefan. We were so close that our lips were almost touching, our eyes locked together, and my stomach churned beneath and I felt an unquenchable desire starting to build up.

It took my senseless mind to come together to know I was almost kissing him, I pushed him lightly and cleared my throat.

"We're late for class."

"15 minutes late. Let's go."

~

I sat alone at lunch and waited for my two friends to arrive with their food. I thought of my nightmares. The way that man slashed that girl's throat, I knew my nightmares were something from my past, and my mom had asked me not to overthink that it would be clear someday.

My friends were back with their meals and I looked at them. They had this weird look on me that I was trying to ascertain.

"What?." I finally asked.

"It's all over the school that you are taking the new boy on a walk." I scoffed.

The school is funny. I could remember when I walked into the school for the first time, the chemistry teacher asked questions on what isn't on the semester's time table, which I answered correctly and Chloe couldn't, that made me known around the school as the new brain.

They had to make me represent them in last year international's spelling bee competition, which of course we won.

I trace everyone's attention to a group of two males and a female walking into the cafe. "Stefan, Aaron, and Wendy," I look at Tyson. "Twin brothers and their friend. I heard about Wendy's Stefan girlfriend." He added.

I turned to him and a flash of I almost kissed him displayed in my head. I cleared my throat instantly. "Are you okay?" He asked, " Yeah, I'm fine."

"She's pretty and makes a good pair." added Molly.

They walk past our table, with Stefan looking back at me. They sat at our back and I turned back to my food. "Your boyfriend is here." Molly whispered and I looked up to see Jake with a hockey ball. "Hey, babe." He sits beside me.

"How was class?." I smiled. "It's great. Any class after lunch?" I asked. "Nah. I have to play after lunch." He looked behind me and turned back again. " I have to go now, stay safe." He draws nearer and kisses me on my forehead before walking away.

"Jerk." Molly mumbled. "Oh please. He doesn't deserve that much hate toward him." She scoffs. "And who's talking about hating him?" She asked. "Ridiculous. I just did."

"Hey, Miss Wilson." I turned to see Stefan sitting beside me. "Hey, Stefan Brown." I tease back and Molly and Tyson chuckled. "Oh, okk. You remember our deal in the morning, I think I'm ready." I looked at his gray beautiful eyes and smiled. "After lunch."

"No sweetheart. I'm playing a game after lunch." The way he said sweetheart made my heart flutter. "Really?. I'm definitely gonna watch that. Scratch that...I'm already your fan." Molly blurts out smiling sheepishly leaving me shaking my head side to side.
