15 Chapter Fifteen

She whispered for another thin vine, her aim, the retreating affinity Lycan woman, but Ryanne interrupted by wrapping his arms around her waist. Her concentration was lost, causing the thin vine to fall weightless on the ground near her feet.

Fighting in his hold, she was very uncomfortable, especially with his hot breath tickling her ears.

“Do not do anything else to harm the babe, my Queen.”

Hearing his whisper of caution, Angelique growled in displeasure.

"Let me go!"

To enforce such action, she smacked her elbow into his stomach. And she did not stop there. Using his groan of pain to her advantage, she banged her head against his face.

A definite crack enveloped the air. That indicated she had done considerable damage to his person.

Quickly pulling herself away from his warm hold that had her body shivering with pure disgust, yet small waves of pleasure, as soon as he had begrudgingly released her, Angelique reprimanded herself for the wayward and foreign feelings.

She lifted the fallen vine as she twisted around to face him but froze. The pain reflecting in his golden eyes made her take numerous steps back. A fleeting ache of regret passed through her heart. The sight of the blood flowing from his nose and his jaw looking dislocated made her wince with regret.

‘What is happening to me?’

She irritably pondered, the places the man had touched still tingling and itching.

Mentally brushing the guilty conscience aside, Angelique sneered, her white hair lifting from her shoulders as a slight wind circulated her. She was very cross but confused.

“I told you, do not touch me!”

Her eyes blazed a bright blue. It was both striking and dangerous.

Diana’s horns slowly elongated once again. She stomped her hoof on the ground in agitation and irritation. Her eyes were burning a million holes in Ryanne's chest, but he was disinclined to worry about what her battle stance posed.

Groaning, Ryanne held his jaw in his hands.

Without hesitation, he straightened the dislocated bone back into place with a low painful growl.

He deserved the hit.

Massaging the jaw by opening and closing his mouth, he wiped the blood from his nose; the torn vessel instantly repaired.

His Lycan was unexpectedly silent, ever since the fact and reality of his lifemate carrying his child had struck him silly.

“I will not hurt you.”

In a low voice, Ryanne spoke while raising his hand in surrender, but Angelique did not look appeased. He groaned yet again when she wrapped the thin vine around his neck. He had let his guard down. He was fooled by his lifemate, for she appeared as if all her powers had depleted earlier.

Lifting his golden eyes to stare into her brightly shining ones, he pleaded while slowly taking a step closer.

“Please, allow me to explain.”

“Take one more step, and I will not promise to spare your life.”

It was a definite threat that she had barked, for he winced when the vine tightened around his neck, but he resumed his steps.

Hesitantly dancing eyes, for he was not seizing his steps, Angelique felt the threat she had uttered was slowly becoming a bluff.

She was confused, especially with the feelings she suddenly felt towards him.

Feeling the trickling of blood flowing from the small cuts that the vines created around his neck, Ryanne refused to stay put when his Queen was standing vulnerable and scared in front of him.

His golden eyes were focused and not averting from the fearful, yet burning with bemusement ocean blue eyes of his gorgeous mate.

He caught a glimpse of his name wrapped around her neck, his heart satisfied with the marking, but guilt and sadness quickly won over. He hoped his Lycan had learned his lesson as the thorns dug deeper into his slowly healing wounds.

“I am sorry.”

“YOUR APOLOGIES DOES NOT SUFFICE FOR WHAT YOU DID TO ME OR MY FAMILY!"

Bawling and massively irritated with his lame apologies, she faintheartedly untangled the vine around his neck with a rapid beating heart. With shaking hands, she loudly barked.

"YOU KILLED GENERAL CASPIAN, MY CLOSEST FRIEND!”

And in return for showing mercy, she pushed him away with a gust of wind. He went flying towards a large tree that collapsed due to his impressive weight, but it had not deterred him.

Quickly, she created a barrier around herself before he could rush towards her after his rapid recovery.

“LEAVE ME ALONE!”

Hearing her cry when he had banged against the ever swirling vines, something he was familiar with in a subconscious part of his mind, Ryanne abated, his heart-crushing in his chest from her oblivious rejection.

“I cannot."

Placing his hands and leaning against her barrier made of vines, he ignored the pain and wounds the thorns caused on both his fisted hands and forehead.

Ryanne was like a desperate pup begging for his mother's attention.

"My Queen, you were made for me: you are my lifemate. If my apologies are not enough, let me prove how sorry I am. I was not sane that night, something that has never happened to me before. I have hurt you, and it pains me. Please, my Queen."

“I AM NOT YOUR QUEEN! MY NAME IS ANGELIQUE SEPIA, PRINCESS OF THE FAE KINGDOM, FUTURE QUEEN OF THAT GREAT KINGDOM; MY HOME THAT YOU DESTROYED, YOU DESPICABLE BEAST!”

Shouting, as she drew a bit closer to where she sensed the Lycan stood, Angelique's heart squeezed in her chest.

The mark around her neck began to ache as she denied the feelings overpowering her mind and trying to fight the hurt that her bitter words caused.

She was afraid of her emotions and the person standing on the other side of her barrier.

“Please hear me out. My name is Ryanne Blood, the King of the Six Royals. My Kingship is within the Lycan Kingdom. I was not the one who invaded your land. My... Princess Angelique, please, I beg you once again, listen to my explanation.”

Aghast by Ryanne's unexpected declaration, she reluctantly made a small but appropriate hole between her vines.

“His royal highness? The ruler of the Fantasia World is you?”

"Yes, it is me."

Finally, able to have a closer look at his face, Angelique felt her world dispersed in different colors.

With unique, outwardly, and piercing golden eyes, he took her very breath away. It was an eye color that was very rare in the Fantasia World.

It was also this color that had frozen her entire person on that painful and dark night. Filled with so many emotions that she could not decipher, the color was captivating, that if anyone were to stare, they would stare all day long.

With broad shoulders and a muscular built, his skin was a light olive color that complimented hers.

Large, dangerous, and old was a deep looking scar running across his left eyebrow down to his lip. But despite the ugly scar, he was handsome.

With full lips, a slightly crooked nose that seemed broken on many occasions, firm cheekbones, despite the recent damage she had done to it earlier, he was magnificent. His bright, captivating, and beautiful eyes, something she could be lost in forever and could not stop staring into, were pleading.

Realizing she was studying his features, she forced herself to look away. Whereas, Ryanne's heart was bleeding in his chest when he finally had a closer look at the bite mark that was still in its first stage of healing.

Pink and looking slightly haggard, the bite mark was still in the process of forming, something he realized would always occur, for his lifemate was from a different species.

Her body was not entirely accepting the bound.

That was a problem, for if she did not, both she and the babe would die.
