1 A deal

While it is possible for all of this to have been nothing but a dream, the clarity of my thoughts and the sensation of the fresh air brushing against my skin tells me otherwise. I cannot feel my body, but I can feel everything that is around me.

As I kept feeling the air flowing right past me I let my thoughts drift away 'Is that really how it ends? Having lived a fulfilling life I cannot complain, but how do I even know that I lived a fulfilling life? And what is it that ended?' Suddenly I realized that no matter how hard I tried I had no memories whatsoever about myself, I had general knowledge about who I might've been and a few guesses but no personal information could be found.

I remain unmoving, unable to tell if I'm even alive or dead, but weirdly enough it felt oddly comfortable, I felt no fear, no worry, no sadness, this loneliness seemed to be something I had longed for before arriving here.

Right before my thoughts could drifted even farther I heard a warm voice that seemed to be calling out for me...

'Am I starting to go crazy?'

"BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

taking me by surprise a voice suddenly bursted out laughing as if it couldn't hold it any longer, and that's when I realized that suddenly I can feel my own body and I'm able to move again.

The first thing I did was opening my eyes but doing so only made me believe more and more than this can only be a dream. What else could it be when right in front of my very eyes, standing lazily while eating a bright red apple, is none other than one of my favorite characters. Adam from the manga record of Ragnarok. There is no way to mistaken him, his shining appearance have no equal.

"I can understand your confusion my child but we don't have much time."

His warm voice took me out of my thoughts once again but this time he seemed way more serious than before and that's when I noticed that his body seemed to be slowly disappearing. This was oddly similar to the scene of his death in the manga.

"Wha- what's happening?"

I looked at him confused at what was happening and how I ended up in this unreal situation.

He looked back at me and smiled as if he was aware of all my thoughts and worries. That was enough to calm me down a bit.

"I don't have much time left my child so I won't waste any time, I brought you here to make a deal with you, I know everything about your past life and I'm the one who erased your memories about certain things because I don't want you to feel attached to your past life."

I directly understood the underlying meaning of his words, so apparently I have already passed away, but that doesn't explain how I ended up here?

"Why did you choose me? And what's this deal you mentioned?" All I knew was that this was very suspicious and that I shouldn't trust someone so easily

After hearing my question he looked sadly at his own disappearing body as he said- "well... I can't answer all your questions as of right now but someone else will if you accept my proposition."

"What's your proposition? Do I even have a choice?" I replied while looking at him suspiciously. Knowing that he already took me here against my will, I wasn't ready to believe that he'd really give me a free choice.

"Hahahaha as suspicious as ever aren't you? But trust me I have no intention to harm you, right now you can either choose to go to the afterlife while losing all your memories, with your current karma you won't be going to hell so you don't have to worry about that, or you can listen to my deal. I can allow you to reincarnate in a new body and in a new word and even visit those worlds you thought were nothing but fantasy." He said with a tone more serious than ever before

"It does sound very tempting... But I know nothing about that new body, or new world or the deal in itself and I can't imagine you will give that to me without expecting anything in return" I replied as even if my memories weren't complete I knew better than to trust a person I met less than 2 minutes ago, but in my current situation I was totally powerless.

"Well then allow me to introduce you this masterpiece called the Human System. It's a System I spent my whole life on, my biggest pride if I may say so. Now that I am about to die I'll fuse it to my eyes of the Lord, even if they're damaged and the system wouldn't be very useful to you at first I believe you both would be able to grow strong together, as for the world you will be starting in, I cannot tell you much about it but the system will answer all your questions in my place, and as for what I will be asking from you in return,it's simply for you to promise to save all of my children." He said while more than half of his body already disappeared

"All your children? Doesn't that mean I will have to save all humans? I'm sorry but I don't think I'm capable of that, I'm sure some humans aren't even worth being saved." I looked at him wondering how he expected me to save them all

"Bahahahaha of course I wouldn't ask you to save all humans, even I wasn't able to do so, but I still would like to ask you to save humanity and protect humanity in my stead" He requested in such a humble manner than even I started to believe he had no other goal than saving humanity.

"Hmm..." After assessing the situation I knew that even if he might be lying I'm totally under his control right now and if he wanted to harm me I couldn't do anything to resist so even if I might be making a big mistake my heart keeps pushing me to say it...

"I accept."
