2 Operation Hope: Dream

It was just an ordinary day..or night. The air was filled with smoke and a slightly strong smell of sulfur, which indicated demons were around or had been in the area. Fire blazed through the cracks in roads, and yards with now dying grass. Hope Peterson walked the streets, scavenging for food.

Parents, before hell broke lose, would be cursing violent zombie games, or violent games in general, but now they'd be thanking the heavens for it. Apocalyptic games gave great hints, on how to survive an apocalyptic disaster.

Hope scoffed, thinking back to how her mother would constantly berate her playing those "devilish brainwashing games". Hope missed her mother. In the year 2013, Hope had lost her beloved mom to breast cancer. It took a toll on her pretty badly. Her father hadn't really been a good one, but he did try, and Hope was thankful for it. She pulled herself out of thought not wanting to dwell on the memory for much longer.

She walked. The sounds of her army combat boots were the only sound she heard, other than the noise of living crickets that were slowly dying and growing weak. She avoided the humongous cracks, or things that were set on fire. She kept her guard up. She had continuously had those small night terrors, and on top of the nightmares, she still had vision-like-dreams.

The sounds of crickets and sounded out around her. A few people, who walked towards her walking the opposite way she was going, had bags over their shoulders indicating they had also been scavenging. They gave a nod her way being polite. It warmed her heart to see that such kindness still existed in the world.

A little boy who had been walking beside his mother and father looked to the sky and pointed up towards the sky. The group looked towards the sky and stopped. A panicked mother shrieked and grabbed her children running to a tree using it, as a hideout to hide, for the branches and leaves for protection.

Hope stopped in her tracks looking to the sky. Her eyes widen. Shock and disbelief filled the girl's eyes. Streaks of thin fire filled the sky. She counted how many streaks and it seemed to be just five streaks. It was unusual. They couldn't be fireworks, shooting stars, nor missiles. She had been so in shock, she hadn't noticed one of the unidentified streaks had touched down into a field nearby.

The screams of the people she had passed by brought her back to reality. The heavy thuds of her boots clanked against the pavement. She parkoured her way to safety. She panted heavily as she jumped over the cracks that were at least two to three feet wide. She slid over hoods of cars, that littered the road abandoned for days and weeks. She finally came to a tractor as she slid under it. She wasn't the fearful type, but it was to be expected. Fear isn't being weak; it's a factor of life that tests our strengths.

The sound of unidentified objects hitting the ground lasted for maybe two minutes tops then there was silence. She could hear herself breathing unevenly but she was terrified to move. She tried to keep herself calm and get herself together. She went to move out from under the tractor, but something stopped her. She stared in disbelief. There stood five people.

All she saw was their kneecaps and everything below that. She could see robes of white that didn't seem bothered or destroyed. She went to back up she stopped dead in her tracks. Within the blink of her eyes, all the people were now on their hands and knees staring at Hope with pure white eyes. A light electric blue color seemed to outline them. They were all so beautiful. Their features were flawless. There was three females and two males.

Their eyes were bizarre, but they seemed to calm her. She didn't seem to feel any dark negative energy, in fact, she felt a positive and friendly energy. She looked between them all, as they backed off of her allowing her to have space to get out from under. She regained a somewhat normal breathing pattern, as she crawled out, and stood to her feet. She looked to them all and spoke out, "wh-who are you and what do you want?-" she couldn't speak out another word as one of the females interrupted her, "Hope Patterson, I am Melania. I'm an angel of God. My brothers and sisters have come to you for help. God has sent us to you, with what little faith he has left, in hopes you'll help save the world, and put our fallen brother Lucifer back where he belongs." Hope watched in shock. She went to agree to help, but just like that a demon leapt at her and everything went black.

Hope sat up in a pool of sweat and tears. She panted and sat up in her little bed. The house was empty her father wasn't in his chair sleeping. She got dressed rather quickly and moved the black-out curtains, seeing the sunshine pour into the room. It was 8:30 on a Wednesday morning.

Hope rubbed at her baby blue eyes. Her dirty-blonde hair showed signs she had been through a vision like dream. She spotted a note on the counter in the kitchen. Turns out her father went out for a run. She smiled and thanked god he hadn't been kidnapped.

She prayed he made a safe travel to and back from the store. She rubbed her face and began to freshen up to start her day as she uttered a small, "Holy Father, please let today be as good as any day. I pray everyone who is still alive stays safe from the evil that lurks outside. Amen."
