1 Chapter One

The day started as it usually does during the summer. I woke up, changed clothes, brushed my hair and teeth, grabbed my keys, said bye to my family, and headed to the bus stop. The bus stop wasn't far, only a few houses to the left of mine. (From the front view) I made my way down Kenmore Street, where my row of duplexes were, but when I did I noticed movement from the corner of my right eye. As soon as I noticed it, I quickly turned my head to catch it. Though by the time I was focused on the area I thought I had seen a shadow, it was completely empty except for a single tree between the space of two buildings. I figured it was just my imagination but I was sure I had seen something...right? I shook my head and continued down the road to see that the bus was already arriving at the stop! I rushed down the road as fast as my short legs could take me. Thankfully, I had made it in time.

I walked down the aisle of various people of different ethnicities and ages. After all, the community buses were meant for the community. (Duh) My eyes quickly scanned the bus to find the person I was looking for, my best friend. My friend, Skylar, and I worked together as volunteers at an animal shelter. She had greeted me, and I returned her hello as I sat down next to her. We talked about the events of the morning, though it was strange..She said she had a similar experience this morning as well! I was stunned! How was that even possible?! When I was about to tell her that we should do some research, the bus had stopped at the shelter. I hadn't realized how much time had passed. Sure it was only ten minutes, but it only felt like two. We thanked the bus driver and left for the building in front of us.

As we were walking down the entrance sidewalk, we had seen the same thing from the previous events of this morning. Noticing it quicker than last time, I had dashed after it. I could hear my friend yell at me from the building entrance. She asked where I was going, naturally I told her that I saw it again. Knowing what I meant, she followed behind me. Since she had seen it before too, she was also curious as to what the shadow was and/or why it was following us. We were running for quite a while, and I, as well as Sky, were getting tired. We stopped to catch our breaths, knowing we would probably lose it. To our surprise, when we stood upright, we saw it again. I think it actually came back to find us when it realized we had stopped. I saw it first and grabbed Sky's arm, then we immediately took off. But we weren't even running for five minutes when it stopped.
