10 Chapter 10: A History lesson

After the day of battle training, when Raven entered the whole class went silent.

'this is going to be awkward'

Then Sasuke got up from his seat and walked to Raven.

"You beat me yesterday, but I will catch up to you. next time you will be the one who will end up losing."

"Really, I would say great. some more training."

Sasuke looked surprised at Raven's response.

"What, you really thought that I took you seriously. Come on really? I have no time to take you seriously, I have some other people to conquer. AND you little Uchiha, are not one-off them."

Sasuke was getting angrier, but he had to get to his seat because Iruka was walking into class. But then Raven got up from his seat. Iruka saw him coming to him and asked.

"Is something the mather, Raven? Class is going to begin."

"Yes, can I be asked to skip theory classes, except for tests? I already have seen this a year ago."

"I know you have already seen this, but you have to follow the curriculum. Those are the rules. you did fail to become genin. So there was certainly something you mist."

"Oh, I know what I mist last year. but it wasn't the theory in the classes. although informative, there are some gaps in classes that I had to look for elsewhere."

"Oh, there are gaps in my teaching and you can do better?"

"Better, no. But there are gaps."

"Really, ok. I'll give you the chance to make your point. Today's class will be you teaching a gap, from our lesson. If it really is a gap, then I'll give you permission to skip theory classes, but if not. then you'll have to follow them al. Deal."

"Deal. please be seated everyone. Class is going to start."

Everybody looked with eye-open eyes and a wide-open mouth. Is a student really going to give a class? Even Shikamaru was paying attention to this.

"Ok, so everybody is seated. I'll give you a really nice lesson. It's going to be over one of our former allies. but before I reveal that, first a question. Does anybody know what the symbol means on Iruka Sensei's back off his flack jacket?"

Everybody looked at the flack jacket Iruka was wearing. And there was really a symbol there. a red spiral. Then everybody started thinking if they ever saw shuts a symbol. But not only them but even Iruka was drawing a blank from memory. 'How is this possible. I can't even remember it, even as I'm wearing it every day.'

...

after a few moment's time.

"Anybody... Iruka do you know? It's your flack jacket, so you should know?"

"I have to admit, I have no idea."

"Well, it's not a drama. But it's the symbol of one of the oldest allies from Konoha. its allies from the times of shinobi wars. the allies were from Hidden Eddy Village or better know as Uzushiogakure. the hidden village of whirlpools. Any know the relation between the two?"

"Well, it really surprises me because we have a clan member in the class. But due to Uzushio's Uzumaki clan and Konoha's Senju clan being distant blood relatives, because of this, all flak jackets worn by the chūnin and jōnin-level shinobi of Konohagakure bear the crest of Uzushiogakure, symbolizing the strong friendship between both villages. So that's the reason everyone wears that symbol with respect."

When everybody heard that Uzumaki wasn't only one of the biggest allies from Konoha but also related to Senju. They started looking at Naruto differently.

But Naruto does only have one question," you said were our allies? did something happen?"

"Yes, there did. Its ninja was renowned for its fūinjutsu to the point that it led to its destruction in war. 3 villages, allied together to attacked Uzushiogakure. Those who survived the village's destruction scattered across the globe to seek refuge."

someone asked, "3 villages? why had three?"

"there Fuinjutsu gave them the strength to hold out for a few days. but it wasn't enough, the village still fell. now it's a battle ground, that still is hard to enter. Only people of Uzushiogakure can enter. So that's my lesson for today. it seems that it's time for a break. Oh, and if you want to know more, you'll have to ask the teacher or your parents, because in the library that's about all the information there is."

And then break started.

The whole class had it over the lesson they just heard. they even talked to Naruto. Because even if he doesn't know anything, he still is now known as one of the last Uzumaki in the world. even Sasuke doesn't give him a hard time.

But the real trouble is brewing in the office of the Hokage.

Iruka went directly after Raven's lesson and giving him permission to skip theory lessons, to the office of the Hokage for answers.

- Hokage's Office -

Iruka enters the office after the receptionist let him in.

"To what do I have the pleasure to meet you today, Iruka? don't you have classes today?"

"This is more important."

"Oh, do tell"

"Today I had a lesson taught to me, by a student telling me there were gaps in my lesson plans. and it seems he was right."

"Withs student? how come he got to teach a class? gaps? I do think you have to start at the beginning."

"Well, it all started with Raven wanting to skip theory classes,... then I proposed to let him show me the gapes,... and then he gave us a lesson."

"Lesson, about?"

"To answer that, let me ask a question first. What does the Red spiral symbolize on our flak jackets?"

Hiruzen's eyes almost popped out his eye sockets at the question. 'No, No, No, why does he ask about that. It can't be.'

He answers hoping it's not true, "Do tell."

"It can't be even you don't know about our allies, the Uzumaki. You should know more about them with your close relation with Senju. they were relatives. you even fought in the war, so the destruction of Uzushiogakure from 3 villages allying with each other would certainly be known by the Hokage. How is it possible that the Village forgot about the Uzumaki, and why is this not in the curriculum?"

"Yes, Iruka, I know about Uzushiogakure and its destruction. It's one-off my failures from the war. when they were being bombarded by the other villages, their reinforcements I sent came too late. the village was destroyed before it got there. they tried to find survivors, but none were found. and because of the deadly whirlpools and their Fuinjutsu, it was impossible to enter the grounds anymore. after the war, it was decided that information should be taken out of the school lessons. but it seems now it will spread again. let me guess, all the young clan members were in that same class? and even Naruto."

"Yes, they all heard. And even if they did, they disserve to know about an ally like that, certainly Naruto as one of the last surviving Uzumaki's."

"Well, it can't be unlearned, can it. if there are questions, they will ask the parents. I think half of them still remembers a particular Uzumaki woman, or even remember my teacher's wife, Mito Uzumaki. they fell in the battle against the nine-tails."

After some small talk, Iruka went back to the academy.

Hiruzen turned to look over the village.

'Never thought that someone would find those books I left in the library. Hihi. was my small payback against the council. how could they make the village forget about my wives clan, or about Kushina and everything the Uzumaki's done for Konoha. I hope with this Naruto feels more connected with Konoha as he is the last of our forgotten ally.'
