The warm lighting brought attention to his long black eyelashes and the pale blue eyes beneath them. He looked at her with a taut expression. His free hand reached out to pick up a glass of wine and swirled the red liquid around. "Where have you been?" The deep Russian accent, that was tinted with anger, destroyed the silence between them.

To save or let die

Small laughs echoed in the room after Tiffany fell on the ground. She scrambled to pick up her papers, but it felt like her hands couldn't hold anything.

Why... why did they all hate her. Tiffany stopped what she was doing and just sat there.

Everyone hates her.

She felt like she was in a daze watching the papers spread out on the classroom's grey carpet. Her vision blurred.

Up above two conflicted eyes watched Tiffany.

Dam it... she didn't want the complication, but she was getting the worrying feeling that if she didn't intervene, Tiffany might not make another week alone.

While this was all natural events, as it was the original Rory's choice to take her own life, she knew that her existence was a change in the natural events.

If she stands by and lets Tiffany die she couldn't help but feel like it was partially her own fault.

"Oh my gosh Tiffany! I am so sorry!" A melodious voice exclaimed from the seats in front of her.

Tiffany blinked. Rory? Wait no Rory hated her too, that's the only reason why he would leave her alone.

The person now was just a fake. What was that demon doing? Was he going to send her to hell right now?

Rory walked down the stairs in a hurry nearly tripping over her own feet. Her beautiful face seemed panicked.

"Professor, I'm sorry I was feeling sick and took a bit of a nap, I didn't hear my partner's name get called. Do you mind if I join in."

The classroom shook their head at the unorganized boy. What did he think his presence was going to do?

Seeing the pitiful show in front of him, the professor waved it off.

Tiffany couldn't believe her ears. Why?

She watched the boy in front of her without moving.

Why are you here?

As if the voice had somehow telepathically traveled to Rory, he reacted.

The boy offered her his hand. "Let's go ahead and get this over with, ok?"

Tiffany stared at the hand still in shock.

Even in her in Rory's past she was always the one making sure Rory never fell off the edge. This was the first time someone reached their hand out to her.

Tiffany blinked and looked at the boy's composed but mischievous face. His hair wasn't gelled back like normally and was a brown fluff on his head. Two large stormy eyes stared from beneath the fluff and the red lips were pulled up into a genuine smile.

She couldn't feel any ill will coming from this person. In fact, even when she acted out of hand, the boy barely reacted.

Demon or not he was the only person who didn't hate her, even if he had no emotion toward her at all, it was refreshing.

Her hand moved shakily to grab the warm comforting hand of Rory.

He pulled her up and then got down to collect the papers.

Looking at the familiar ugly hand writing Rory's head hurt. She definitely couldn't read the project Tiffany wrote, but thankfully at least the prompt was in printed out text.

The classroom didn't notice the intense moment and looked at the two known freaks like they were watching a show.

Everyone was filled with expectations on how terrible the project would be.

Rory's expression didn't change as she placed the paper's on the podium.

"Today the choice of product we will be selling are ice cubes!"

Everyone in the classrooms expression dropped. How ridiculous was this going to get!

"To start off a little bit of history..."

Everyone's confused expression soon became more and more interested as the presentation went on. Rory's voice was steady and pleasant to listen to on the ears.

In addition to that she was actually listing important points of how to sell ice cubes and maximize profits!

"Now all ice cubes might seem like they are the same, and they are. That's why we have to manipulate the mind to make a difference! We aren't just selling ice cubes, we are selling ice cubes formed from the purest ice ever seen deep in the middle of Antarctica. This of course isn't true, but we are making our ice exotic to people who want the best of everything..."

On the white board behind the podium was a methodical drawn out graph on the increased sell of ice cubes. It seemed ridiculous, but her methods might actually make selling 200 dollar ice bags possible.

This level of presentation was far beyond the classroom!

People before Rory had done good projects on how to maximize profits, but who in the hell would actually fully think out how to sell a common object like ice cubes!

"All of this is of course circumstantial and are just some of the ways to increase profit to the max."

Even after the presentation was finished no one spoke. Some of them were even wondering if they should really invest in ice!

Finally the professor asked, "Are there more ways to increase the price?"

He has noted that the boy's last statement didn't seem like Rory was done.

He couldn't help himself from being curious.

Rory smiled while picking up the papers, "Yes, but it looks like I used up more time than I should already."

The professor had already let her speak for a full ten minutes despite the time wasted in the beginning and her two minutes of question time was spent in silence.

A whopping 18 minutes has been spent on their group alone!

The professor looked at the time before nodding, he quickly accepted the papers before waving up the next group.

The classroom came out of their dazed state.

What exactly did they just watch and why exactly did they enjoy it!?

—————————————————-

After class, Rory didn't waste anytime grabbing her things and leaving.

She barely had time outside of class and was trying her best to study outside of the time she had at home. After all, she could only build her computer in her dorm

Her steps were quick, but before she could exit the room a cold hand grabbed her left arm. Rory's face scrunched up at the unexpected pain.

Lily's eyes sparkled in delight when she saw the change in expression. Was this f****t cutting himself again?
