1 Life and Death

It was a cold night in the Cygnus Estate. If someone looked out the window, they would see the biggest snowstorm to have graced the Cygnus Duchy for centuries.

While the outside of the estate was cold and unforgiving, the inside of the estate was the opposite. A warm and serene interior graced the inside. And from a room inside the mansion came the moans and cries of a woman. Nurses could be seen going in and out of the room. Everyone in the estate was nervous as could be. The lady of the house was giving birth.

"It's almost out, push! Push!"

"Just a little more, miss! It's almost over."

"One more! Give me one more!"

"Waaaaaahhh! Waaaaahhh!" resounded the cry of a baby.

"Congratulations, Madam. It's a boy!" pronounced the nurse as she approached the lady with the newborn. As she got close, however, she noticed the lack of reaction. The nurses stirred into a panic as each gave their best to bring the lady back. But it was too late.

Just as a life was brought into the world, a death also followed. Soon, it became known throughout the kingdom that in the Cygnus Duchy, Life and Death go hand in hand.
