1 Little Pea

Her heart ached badly as she stared into his eyes, full of pain and sadness. Neilani shook her head as her hand trembled in fear. What was he thinking? What did he want to do?? She couldn't kill her brother, not then not ever. She'd die instead of committing such crime.

"Do it or we're dead Neilani!" A fairly young girl yelled at Neilani who just gaped at her. How could her own brother's girlfriend ask her to kill her boyfriend? Neilani frowned at the girl, she always knew something was up with her.

Whenever Naphtali and Li Xiao hugged, Li Xiao's face turned scornful behind his head. Neilani saw this but she never informed Naphtali about this disturbing hunch she had. Li Xiao would have probably denied it and he wouldn't bring up the issue again.

However, seeing Naphtali's face didn't falter upon hearing his girlfriend's voice, instead he suddenly had a bitter smile across his face. He had known Li Xiao's true intentions all this while, she was only with him to suck him dry. What a gold digger.

But Naphtalia was desperate, he was in love and hoped she'd change her ways, that was why he never confronted her. But it looked like she didn't change even, even to the very end. At least she was being honest at that moment, it was out of fear but still.

Neilani hung her head low as tears streamed down her face, she was so endorsed in her school work that she was oblivious to what her brother had been going through. She wanted to make it right, so she couldn't pull the trigger.

"One minute remaining," the kidnapper reminded them of his presence, scoffing as he watched the drama unfold. Next time, they would learn not to mess with the Yang family. He sighed heavily, not wanting to force them further because they had already been given a specific amount of time.

The Yang family was notoriously known as the silent killers, they were rumored to actually be a generation of Mafia which was true, but none of the family members confirmed or denied the rumors.

That wasn't the only rumor about them. They were said to all be suffering from the inability to speak, just because they rarely spoke or did interviews. In other words, their employees were their mouthpiece. And that was the same in this case.

The Lordes, Neilani's parents were foreign partners with the Yang corporation as they were working on a business project together. However, as soon as the said product was released, a conflict arose between the two families.

The Yang family claimed to have been cheated by the Lordes as the profit was to be shared a fifty-fifty percentage. But the Yang family had received thirty percent, according to them they had calculated the amount of money they were expecting to receive.

Though they received more than expected, the share they got couldn't match up to the one they had calculated and because the profit was more than large, the share they got should have had a reasonable amount of increase.

All the fights, conflicts and arguments resulted in the kidnapping of the heir and heiress of the Lorde family, and Li Xiao just happened be with them at the time of the abduction. Still, there seemed to be something more to all the chaos.

What the Yang family wanted, a person didn't need the other half of his brain to figure out. They wanted the Lordes to kneel and beg at their feet, power was controlling their brains.

But Barbara Lordes wasn't that kind of woman to give in, she wasn't going to sit back and watch her children being tortured, neither was she going to bow to anyone.

"Naphtali I can't do it. I'm not gonna do it!" Neilani yelled at him. For the first time, she didn't do what her brother asked of her.

"Since when did you start being disobedient little pea?" Naphtali playfully frowned.

Neilani looked up at her brother again, was this the last time she'd see him? Never had she ever in her life seen Naphtali looking so wretch and helpless.

Even as young as he was, Naphtali was a mighty man of valour, admired by all; both young and old. At this time, he was preparing to be the next CEO of his father's company.

Though Barbara didn't think he was ready yet, "my baby boy is just twenty-three, he can't handle the work!" The woman yelled at her husband each time he brought the topic up.

Aside from his really good looks that made women, ladies and girls swoon, he had this sweet smile that seemed to brighten up your mood, no matter what bad situation you were in.

His smile simply said hope, and that smile never seemed to fade away from his mouth, and that was the smile that was across his face as placed his hand on Neilani's. Neilani looked at the gun in her hands as Naphtali's fingers pulled the trigger.

At that moment, Neilani couldn't hear anything except from the annoying ringing in her ear. Was it because of the gun or because the world was getting blurry? Suddenly everything went in slow motion.

Neilani couldn't hear a word, her mother cries, the fake wailing, the sirens- Nothing. Except from the ringing in her ears. Though her eyes blurred with tears as she watched her brother fall to the ground helplessly.

"Naphtali!"
