6 The Morning After - 5

<Callian's POV>

We were in big trouble.

I sat there on the bed, with sweaty hands and a racing heart.

Beside me on the bed was Caroline, and in front of us was Corrine.

"What where you guys doing last night?"

She glanced suspiciously at my bloody bedsheets.

"Woah, it's not what you think Sis." Said Caroline with a nervous, trembling voice.

"I see blood, and the two of you are in bed together, what did you think I would be thinking?"

"But we're only seven! I promise we didn't do it!"

Of course, being our older sister, Cor already knew about Caroline's love for me, so, of course she would be suspicious.

"I just asked Caroline to look at my memories, it's not her fault." I said, my calm tone cutting through the tense atmosphere.

"And why didn't you invite me along?" Retorted Corrine.

"Uhm..."

"I saved him when he jumped out of his window after we left, and so he tried to convince me to kill him by having me look at his memories."

'You sold me out!'

That was the look I was giving to Caroline, but she just pretended not to notice and focused her gaze on Cor.

Turning my head slowly, my neck creaking like a rusty door, to look at Cor's face, I was immediately terrified at what I saw.

"U-u-uhm... I can explain!"

But, instead of the usual outburst that she did whenever she got angry at the both of us when we were kids, she just sighed and rubbed her temples with her fingers.

'Oh yeah, we're not kids.'

"So, seeing how you're still alive, you failed to convince Caroline to kill you?"

"Yeah, you see, I am..." I said, planning to highlight all my evil acts so that she would kill me.

"Let me explain." But, Caroline butted in, so, I was just left there in silence as Caroline explained all of my memories to Cor.

...

"So, let me get this straight, you did all those evil acts because this "system" threatened to kill your daughter?" She asked, her anger apparent.

"You should know, being a parent yourself, that a person's child is their world, they would do anything for them." I said, trying to calm her down.

"And yet, knowing this, you killed my son right in front of me!" She screamed into my face, tears starting to flow out of her eyes.

"So kill me, let me atone for my sins." I responded, calmly.

But she didn't, all she did was sit back down in her chair and silently cry.

Getting up, Caroline walked over and enveloped Cor in a hug, and soon after, I activated partial transformation and walked over to hug her too.

...

After Cor stopped crying, she asked me the last question that was on her mind.

"Will you keep trying to commit suicide? And don't lie, I'm sure that Caroline will know immediately when you do, after all, she now knows you even better than yourself."

Nodding, I replied with what I had slowly been thinking about these past few nights.

"I will continue for the next two years until the main scenario starts. At that moment, I will give up hope on not causing my daughter the pain of an early death, and I will stop."

"So, we only have to stop each and every suicide attempt you do for the next two years? That's doable. I can do it when the sun's out and Caroline can do it during the night as a vampire that doesn't really need sleep."

Hearing this, I saw the sisters nod at each other and already knew, I would most likely fail in my endeavors. After all, they were my sisters, and knowing them, they were now too determined to let anything get in their way.

So, I decided to test their determination.

"Maids!"

I called the maids in, and once they saw the blood on the bedsheets, they all looked at my older sister for her orders.

"Please clean this up. Cal here tried to commit suicide again, and thankfully, we stopped him and had a heart to heart, so all is good now."

Hearing this, the maids nodded and escorted us out of the room before starting to clean up my bed.

In all the flurry of activity, I easily snuck off one of the maid's waist bands and then stuffed it into my throat, trying to choke myself.

"Kkk, kk, kkkkk!"

Hearing my unusual coughing behind them, both my sisters turned around, and their eyes widened at what they saw.

Immediately Caroline stuffed her small hand down my throat and pulled the band out.

The maid that had been pushing my wheelchair was already apologizing to my older sister for her incompetence, but all of us just ignored her, and my older sister took over the job of pushing my wheelchair.

Once we were out of the maids' range of hearing, I said,

"I *cough* thought that would work."

"Honestly, I didn't think you would act that fast." Replied Cor.

"Hey, I said two years, and that's pretty short compared to how long we've all lived."

"True..."

Cor continued pushing me along the hallways, bringing us to the garden.

"Are Mom and Dad still at the conference?"

"Yes, the war with the Elves is still dragging on at this point."

"So, we're about to receive our marriage partners, right?" I asked, a face popping up in my mind, the face of a person I once loved, a face that I had buried once I became the final boss.

"Yes, I don't know about you because you're paralyzed now, but I'm almost sure that I'll be married off to the first prince again."

"Are you going to willfully face that torture again?" I asked her, trying to forget about my own fiancee.

"No, but I want to see my son once again, no matter what it takes, so I'll bear it all over again."

I just nodded at this, knowing full well about the sacrifices that one would make for their child, and so we spent the rest of our walk through the garden in silence.
