3 Scenario: Adventurer

After my slightly awkward exchange with Lantana, she left the place. I was left free to explore the apartment, but unfortunately, it really was just an average apartment room. There was a living room combined with the kitchen, a bathroom, and two more rooms placed next to each other.

My room simply just contained a bed and the basic objects. A desk, pencil's, paper, etc.

I didn't open Lantana's room out of respect. I hadn't explicitly wrote out what her room was like, so I could only assume what was inside. Perhaps a bunch of Magic Weapons? I wasn't sure, and I didn't care.

The moment I saw my bed, I leaped on it, and let out a 'phew' sound.

'A bit soft. Normally, I like harder beds. It seems that I've adapted to the physical preferences that this body has, though. I wonder if this will affect my sense of taste?'

I quickly realized that I was thinking pointless things, and frowned.

'No, right now, I need to think about important things. Like, for example...'

"What am I gonna do from now on?"

This was definitely the most pressing matter. I wasn't restricted by the possibility of death or anything. Neither was I restricted by something like familial attachments. I was absolutely free to do whatever I wanted.

As for becoming a saviour of the people by killing the Demon King?

'Screw that! I don't have to do that! The Hero has to! Soren, the protagonist! I'm not the protagonist here. I'm just a random guy who was reincarnated into my own story. I can just live a relaxed life.'

I felt cheerful and relieved at this realization. Then, a second later, I remembered the plot twist I added to my most recent chapter and groaned.

'No, wait! I made him go insane! Shit, what the hell was I thinking when I wrote that?!'

"Ahh, what the hell is up with this situation..."

On one hand, the Demon King could take over the world and slaughters all the humans. On the other hand, the Hero swears to fight against the deities, dragging the rest of the world into his own problem.

Both options were terrible.

'Either way, this world is done for. Ah, God, why did you choose to transmigrate me into this world headed for doomsday?'

I bitterly laughed.

"Ah, at this rate, I'll have to become the Hero myself... But that'll take so much effort! I don't want to. I remember overworking every day after finishing college. I don't want to ever work again."

One could say I had won the lottery as an adult. Hero of Eternity wasn't the first novel I wrote online. It was the third. Half-way throughout my first novel, I was contracted by the platform I wrote on and only needed a part-time job to sustain my living costs. This continued on to the second and third novel, too.

So, basically, I had gotten used to such a comfortable life that I didn't want to ever work again.

'Ah. Well, I guess I don't have to really become the Hero. All I have to do is prevent the protagonist's harem from being killed, right? Oh, after that, I'll provide some help when he needs it. During my free time, I can do things like recruit genius' who aren't aware of their talents. For example, there was that one character in Chapter 45 who had S-Grade Magic Talent but didn't know of it, since an evil demon sealed it away. I can make him my servant, or something. Oh, there's also...'

As I began to sprout thoughts about the future, I began to become more and more drowsy without noticing it. Before long, I fell asleep. Thankfully, this time around, it was of natural means.

"Ah! I don't wanna get out of bed! I want to sleep!"

When I woke up, the first thing I did was let out a yell of complaint. I opened my eyes and looked around my room.

"Was I kidnapped?"

After a few seconds, the answer came to me.

"Oh, I was transmigrated... I didn't remember."

I scratched my back and forced myself to get up. I located the bathroom and found a cup with a toothbrush in it. I didn't stop to think about why it was already wet. Next to it, there was a tube which contained toothpaste.

While applying toothpaste, I absentmindedly thought,

'Come to think about it, for there to be things like toothpaste and sinks in this medieval-era world doesn't make sense. Ah, well, I guess this is a result of my writing. Somewhere along the line, I probably wrote something involving 'X character brushing their teeth', and 'Y character washing their hands in the bathroom'. Well, I guess that's a good thing. After all, had I not done that, then everyone would look terrible.'

I finished up and went back to my room, relaxing on a chair with a smile. Smiling after I woke up was something I had gotten used to doing every day. it was supposed to help make me more cheerful, though more than anything else, it made me feel like an idiot.

"Now, what to do? Um, let's see..."

'Well, first of all, I want to test something out.'

"Status."

The moment this word left my mouth, a transparent screen appeared in front of me. It resembled a hologram.

Name: Sylris Willowsong

Race: Half-Human, Half-Elf

Age: 13 Years Old

Vitality: 6

Strength: 6

Agility: 6

Endurance: 6

Mana Attunement: 20

I folded my arms at the numbers in front of me and frowned.

'All these stats are terrible. But, I guess comparing these stats to the Hero's ones, or even to those of his companion's is unfair. I suppose these are all fine to start off with.'

I stretched my arms and then my legs. Forgetting that I wasn't sitting on my usual leather seat, I tried to tilt backward. As a result, the chair I was on nearly toppled because of my movements. Thankfully, it didn't actually fall over. After inwardly reminding myself to not do that again, I clapped my hands together and thought,

'Now, what's the quickest way to power up?'

I tracked over my memories of 'Hero of Eternity', and then shook my head.

"No, I shouldn't think about those things yet. As it stands right now, I don't even know what year it is. I also forgot where this school is located... Or did I even write that in the book? Well, anyways, I should probably go find out. As for attending this school? By the time I graduate, the Hero will probably have already gone insane. I need fast powerups right now."

*

The sky was a soothing, ocean-like blue, and the clouds adorned it like jewels on a crown. It gave one the impression that even the heavens could be grasped.

I walked around the city which was illuminated by the sun, and let out a sigh.

'This body is too weak.'

It really was. In terms of physique, it was only half of the level of an average adult male. If not half, then less.

I was looking for a peculiar place. Naive youths filled with a desire for adventure headed there, and so did battle-hardened mercenaries with blood on their hands. Whether it be money, fame, or power, 'that' place contained all of it.

After an hour of walking around, I found it. It was a three-story building made out of wood.

It didn't emit a sense of grandeur at all, and in terms of design, just seemed like a large inn. Peculiarly, though, there was the drawing of a gold coin above the front door. This drawing identified that building as an 'Adventurers Guild'.

Adventurers Guild's act as the middlemen for trade, essentially. 'Commissioners' can post 'Requests' up for other people, like obtaining certain herbs, defending a village from monsters, etc. etc. Requests have certain difficulties attached to them, scaling from F to SSS. In return, the people who complete the 'Requests' receive a reward.

The people who accept these requests are named 'adventurers'. They are also ranked from F to SSS. Those who are of a certain rank can only accept the equivalent rank Request, as well as the ones under it. For example, a B-ranked adventurer cannot accept an A-ranked Request.

'That should be the gist, anyway.'

I recalled all the information I had about the place. After confirming that I hadn't missed anything important, I entered.

The first thing which I noticed was the overall environment. It was a rowdy place, full of many people of many types. Some were crude-looking men with their muscles exposed, and others were seductive sorceress' in tight-clad clothing.

There were five counters lined up next to each other. The first three counters each had attractive at them women, while the fourth counter had a handsome young man working there.

The fifth one was relatively empty, probably because the person there was an old man. I walked up to the line, and a minute or so later, I got to the front of the line.

"So, young lady, what brings you here today?"

"...I'm here to become an adventurer."

I wanted to correct the 'young lady' part, but after a bit of thought, decided not to. It was too much of a hassle to have to do so for every stranger I met. I might as well just ignore it.

The old man let out a nod, and responded with a croak-like voice,

"Alright. Then, sign this..."

He passed me a piece of paper which resembled a form issued by a hospital, or something like that. I filled out the form, which thankfully, wasn't difficult to answer even for me, who knew next to nothing about my new body. Since some Adventurers wanted secrecy, personal things like the 'Location of Birth' didn't need to be written. Even using an alias instead of a real name was allowed.

"Next, let me test your magic power..."

He gave me a translucent orb, which I placed my hands on softly. The orb flashed with a light glow. When the glow disappeared, the orb began to fill up with blue light until it was 2/3rds full. The old man muttered, "I see. Intermediate-Ranked.", and then went upstairs. When he returned, he handed me a bronze plate with a string through it.

"Congratulations, youngster. You are now an E-rank adventurer."

I stared at the copper plate and smiled, while inwardly thinking, 'it looks like a dog collar.'

Even though I was a little bit mixed with the design, I held it close to me like it was a treasure.

'Currently, I have no money. But, with this, everything will change! I'll accept Requests and earn money. Then, once I get enough, I can garner supplies and then look for the nearest inheritances of those dead people who used to be extremely powerful. Of course, it can't be something that the protagonist will eventually find. Although that limits me by quite a bit, I guess its fine.'

While holding whimsical thoughts about the future, I failed to notice the people behind me complain about me not leaving.
