7 The expedition

Ever since Fritz got stripped of his right to train the recruits two months ago, he had worked harder than ever to regain the that position. To Fritz it was a sure sign that no matter how much in the right he is that so called god would make him wrong. Thankfully though for Fritz an opportunity came up which meant that he could prove himself to his superiors that he is the most capable person on the base. The act of discipline was widely common in this world, and the army was, supposedly, the harshest in the Reich. Those that fail to follow orders would often face the firing squad, and the Reich military does this the most so it made no sense to Fritz that he would not ne allowed to punish the two recruits that didn't follow orders. Either way Fritz was not going to allow this to stop him from achieving his goal.

In two days Fritz and 30 other trainees were heading north to train in the northern mountains, this is where Fritz would prove his worth to his superiors and get his position back. The north of the Reich was a cold place where mountains would peak above the clouds. The winter was eternal, always cold always white. The north was a harsh place yet civilians up north were kind, even if they live on the border with the Scandlovania Alliance. Even though that nation is weak the people know the Fjords and can fight using guerilla tactics. Because of this the Reich has some difficulties expanding their territory into the Scandlovania Alliance land. The land that the Reich does own is used for training exercises and this was something that could work to Fritz advantage as he could use spells to heat himself up, the land the Reich owned was harsh and cold with reports of recruits freezing in the cold mountains. Because of this the training exercises were for special recruits that showed lots of promise, much like Fritz.

Before the platoon of recruits left for the north, each had to have a medical assessment in order to determine if they were fit enough to proceed with the expedition. If they were not they could end up dying from the harsh conditions. The doctors and nurses conducted the assessment were also im charge of the mage tests in which children across the Reich are tested for being mages.

When Fritz enter the clinic, set up to conduct the assessment, the nurses wondered why a child was in army uniform but quickly ignored that fact when colonel Richtofen entered behind him. The colonel was ordered to remain at the base in order to determine whether Fritz was a wildcard or not. Fritz was the first to be examined, the doctor examining Fritz was a tall man in his mid fifties he had a long white medical coat, his hair was black with grey strands peeking out with dark green eyes. The doctor only spoke his name, Gustav, and asked questions about Fritz's health, mainly his eating habits as it was known to the medical staff that he had been raised in a poor orphanage and was severally malnourished, he then asked for him to state his name full name and rank as per procedure although every doctor already knew about Fritz they still needed this "Corporal Fritz SchwarzDrachen . Due to this his growth was stunted and he would remain smaller than normal, although Fritz hated this he thought that it would be easier in aerial combat as he would be a smaller target to fire at. Fritz stated at he had been eating enough to remain in the armed forces and fight for the Reich " Yes, yes serve the Reich and all that... What exactly are you eating in order to serve our 'beloved' nation"

"The standard meals from the canteen, as well as some additional meals ive been ordered to eat due to my condition." Gustav seemed somewhat pleased with Fritz's answer, "Apart from you being a child, i have no further questions, you are fit to go on this little trip"

Fritz was pleased with this, he was able to go out on the expedition, it was important to him, both he and Richtofen left the temporary clinic and walked away. While walking down the bases footpath towards the main building Fritz thought to himself "If i show of my ability to lead a squad and complete all tasks surely they'll consider rewarding me with a promotion" . Fritz then began to snicker at the thought of finally being able to teach the so called god a lesson and be free of the threat of fighting sooner than he anticipated, because Richtofen heard this he quickly began speculating what Fritz was planning. Although he was ordered to remain at the base till the expedition he felt slightly afraid, " no boy his age would willingly join the army like this unless they were a complete monster and that name of his what the actual hell it couldn't be anymore ominous than that. What i understand though is why strategic hq is so eager to use him in a conflict he could wipe out an entire army from the looks of his report. It is like he was made by the devil to destroy mankind".

Meanwhile in the Scandlovania Alliance an army of 50,000 men were also preparing for an expedition, although it would take them across the border into Reich land, they had horse drawn carriages full of weapons, food and water enough for an invasion, the soldiers thought that was strange considering they were told that they were going on an expedition as apart of training. In reality the men were being used by their government to initiate a war with the Reich in order to weaken its army. The main leader of the Scandlovania Alliance was president Olaf Hiltsburg, followed by his cabinet of politicians. President Hiltsburg Had golden hair with sharp green eyes, his main feature was his highly groomed mustache, he was average in height and slightly overweight, due to his wealth he would stuff his face with food while his people starved from the harsh winters. This is what many of the higher class did in the Scandlovania Alliance they allowed the people of lower class starve and die while they live comfortably.

"Gentlemen, welcome, today i have called this meeting to address the upcoming 'expedition' that a force of 50,000 men will be embarking on 1 week from now into the Reich's land, we will be taking what is rightfully ours, the Northern mountains of the Reich. They belong to us, as our ancestors ruled the North for hundreds of years before the rise of the Reich stole from us, during this war we will be able to increase our wealth by raising the taxes. In 1 week time we will be at war. " the speach Olaf made to his cabinet was full of greedy and patriotic words, stating just why they will go to war.
