Chapter 140: Deciphered Lies

Kiba and Hatsumi stood quietly at one corner of the mall. They leaned back on the wall as they stood side by side. Hatsumi stared at the floor while Kiba looked up at the ceiling.

Quite some time had passed. Kiba looked at Hatsumi from time to time, only to see her in the same position as the previous time he looked.

He waited patiently for her to talk and possibly explain things. He knew something was not right with how things went. Finally, Hatsumi spoke up.

"Kiba-kun… I…"

Hatsumi choked up her words. When Kiba looked at her again, she was already teary-eyed.

"Why don't we sit down first?"

Kiba offered a smile that she didn't see.

The two of them then walked toward the food court inside the mall. Once they found a table, they sat down on opposite sides of the table. Hatsumi still had her head hung all the while. This time, Kiba talked first.

"So, after seeing that earlier… I think there is something you're not telling me, Hatsumi-san."
