Ch 1 Recalling last night

Waking in the morning finding a massive headache "ugh I drank too much last night" Joseph said feeling groggy and in a bit of pain. he stretched and grabbed the alarm clock it read 08:37 realizing that he hadn't set an alarm he yawned " it's really early in the morning" he said rubbing his eyes and smacking his cheeks " I might as well get a shower and some food" he thought as another thrum of pain hit him " and... some... pain killers." He said as he winced Joseph went into his bathroom grabbed a few Tylenol from the bottle and swallowed them dry immediately regretting it. An hour later after having a long shower and letting the pain mess take the edge off Joseph finished pouring milk into his cereal and checked his phone. He had 15 missed messages!!! Checking the first one it was his best friend Patrick "hey Joey did you go home with that chick last night I know you got some digits, also you asked me for money last night but I don't remember why... just hit me up when you're up and we can talk about it love ya bro!" Joseph smirked he had no clue what it was probably another spur of the moment get rich quick schemes he usually thought up while he was drunk although this time he had a vague idea that he'd asked for a good reason this time "I don't remember maybe it will come to me later. Also I don't remember a girl or anything, and yeah catching up later sounds awesome!" He sent back to his friend, he checked the next messages they were a jumble of random people he had no memories of giving his number to but one stuck out "Good morning I hope we can go forward with the proposition I gave you last night. Carla." He knew his memory was shot this morning but this tugged on some string in his head... he went back to his bedroom to search last nights pants for clues, after a few seconds he found a Gen-tech's business card and remembered the lady at the bar, (Carla) made an offer to him, and due to his financial standing sounded great! She offered him a whole 50,000 credits to take a few tests and exercise a bit "Ha! that'll be the easiest money I've made" Joseph thought as he went back into the kitchen to finish his breakfast and texted the phone number on the back of the business card. "Hey Carla this is Joseph I don't remember much from last night it'd be great if we could grab some coffee or something." Joseph sat down to watch some tv and his phone started ringing he looked at it and sees (Carla from Gentech) "Hello?" He asked answering the phone. "Yes hello is this Joseph Humbridge? My names susie I'm Carla's secretary I noticed you texted back about the offer and needed clarification about what it all entails." She rambled off faster than Joseph had ever remembered hearing anyone speak ever since he moved off planet to Helix. "Wow. Yeah I just barely remembered some stuff about doing some tests and making some credits?" He replied before Susie could chime in "what time can you come in to get the testing started?" Susie seemed to surprisingly get straight to the point "hmmm... I'm free all day today and tomorrow and every day for the next month at least sooo...." he thought to himself "I guess I'm good to come in whenever but don't I have to pass an interview or something?" Joseph asked a bit perplexed "Not unless you're applying for a job. From which I can tell you are not qualified for anything, other than custodian... We already have an extensive background check on you here." Joseph gasped to himself "even a secretary of one of the researchers knows that much about me?" Joseph shrugged to himself and said he would be there whenever was convenient so she said that a shuttle was being sent to him. Joseph was excited, he had no clue that he had been targeted a year ago by Gen-tech researchers and that they had been the ones to get him fired and blacklisted to make him desperate for money before trying to gain him for their experiments.
