16 The helio's wrath (2)

Was Jessica really beheaded? She wanted to ask for confirmation but she knew that the maid would rather die than continue talking to her so she didn't press the matter.

She waited until the following morning to try and find out. When she learnt that Darius was having breakfast in his garden, she got ready to meet him.

She had no desire to put in any effort to look beautiful for him but according to Kyrah, a man was more likely to relent when faced with beauty so she applied color to her lips and let her hair down. She was allowed into the garden without any qualms, which was unexpected. She had thought he would banish her from showing herself before him.

Her sigh of relief reminded her just how tightly her corset had been tied. She was certain of it now. Gwen was definitely trying to kill her.

"You finally woke up." Darius remarked when he saw her.
