Sebastian Carter chuckled loudly and turned to leave.
Amelia Walker screamed until she was exhausted, sliding down to sit on the floor next to the door. She sat terrified, waiting for her drug addiction to kick in, a feeling akin to a person condemned to death awaiting execution, a feeling of terror and despair.
Passing by Reuben Carter's room, Sebastian saw Reuben standing in the doorway, trembling as he gazed in the direction of Amelia's room. Worrying that his son was scared, Sebastian bent down to pick him up. But the moment his hand neared, Reuben shuddered and took a step back, trembling more than before.
He had clearly heard what Oliver Hoffman had said to Helen Blair that day. Even though he was still young, he could understand. He knew that those bad people had been brought by his dad. It was his dad who had asked those people to beat him.
Frowning, Sebastian stepped forward, "Reuben, what's wrong? It's Daddy, isn't it?"
