18 Sending The Devil Off

"so, what made you come here? I thought you were busy for your upcoming fashion show?" Hui Yin asked while eating her hotpot

"en, I am but I missed you a-Yin" she said cheekily

"why is Bai Feng not with you?" it was usually the both of them who visited her unless something happened....

"uh... xiaoFeng stayed cuz he had some recording to do or something"

"who are you calling little? You're the youngest of us three hahahaha" she laughed, as she shrugged off Xia Lan's response.

It was a moment for them to catch up. Before Hui Yin left for work, she used to spend most of her time with her two best friends.

"How is my dad?" she asked

"Old Han is doing well" Xia Lan answered, she quickly lowered her head to hide the sorrow that flashed in her eyes.

Soon, both girls felt sleepy. They cleaned up and washed themselves before they went to bed

....

"LanLan"

"hey, Lan? wake up, I need to get to work"

"hnn?" rubbing her eyes, Xia Lan saw a fully dressed Hui Yin.

"Where are you going?"

"work" quickly getting off the bed, Hui Yin proceeded to the kitchen "there's breakfast for you on the table and spare keys if you would like to go out and I have an extra car there if you'd want to use it. I'll be back later tonight, until then, take care of yourself alright?" she smiled warmly

"en, take care too" Xia Lan smiled back. She planned on getting up to eat, but when Hui Yin left, she fell back on her bed and slept yet again.

The cool air brushed past Hui Yin's cheek as she opened the car window, it was nearly winter season so her body shivered. Quickly, she closed the window again and rushed to work.

When she arrived, it was dawn and it was still slightly dark out. She had to come to work early today as it was her job as the secretary to set the president off. She brought her ID in the scanner and bid her 'good mornings' to the security and walked into the elevator. Reaching the toppest floor, she immediately walked to the president's office and knocked

"come in" she was now used to hearing this cold voice. When she entered, she was greeted by a wet and messy haired Cheng Ming-hùa. She sighed. Although his hair wasn't fixed in place and his suit hadn't had a tie on, he still carried an air of royalty with him. He looked good as always.

"Did you sleep here Mr. Cheng?" since she became the secretary, it had also become her job to care for the personal welfare of the president

"en" the bathroom lights in his office were still lighted, this meant that he just finished showering. She giggled lightly, it was barely audible yet he was still able to hear it. It was music to his ears. Maybe out of habit, she walked in the bathroom and took a hairdryer, then walked back out, towards him. Plugging it on, she dried his hair humming slowly and combed it in place. For her, it was a natural thing to do since this was usually what happened with her dad, but this caused an opposite effect on him. He was comfortable with what she did and she understood him. They were in sync in thoughts most of the time. After she dried his hair, she took a navy blue tie and knotted it on his neck. When she was done, she took a step back and checked out her work and as expected, it was well done. Then she remembered what she had just done

"I'm sorry Mr. Cheng, I..uh.." she coughed out and lowered her head, she blushed

"it's fine" his eyes flashed for a second and he grimaced but he quickly regained composure once again but his eyes were menacing

"I used to do that for my dad, it just came out of habit...I am sorry" when he heard this, his eyes went back to normal as he looked at her with an amused expression. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Was he being treated as an old man by this woman?

"it's fine" he said again

Hui Yin looked at her watch and noticed that it was time to get going.

"Mr. Cheng, we should get going"

"okay"

Hui Yin drove Mr. Cheng to the airport. When they arrived, she walked behind him to the departure area where his private jet was situated. Although it only took a couple of minutes to walk to his plane, Cheng Ming-hùa walked slower and matched her pace. Finally, they arrived "have a safe flight, Mr. Cheng" she bowed. With a nod, he went in the jet and she stayed put looking at it as it flew away. When the jet was no longer in sight, she walked back to her car and drove back to the office.

---

"Ms. Lin, I'm Veronica Dashington. Pleased to be working with you" a girl said while putting out her hand arrogantly which Hui Yin politely shook. She knew that things like these were necessary to keep up the formalities between co-workers.

"Hello Ms. Dashington"

"oh please, Veronica is fine"

"alright then, Veronica. Well then, excuse me"

"ahh wait Ms. Lin!"

"hmm?" Hui Yin was starting to get annoyed by being talked to by other people. She didn't like to socialize and would have wanted to keep it that way, but now that Mr. Cheng flew off to Country N, she had no choice but to concede.

"come to think of it, we haven't given you a welcome party yet. Would you like to join us for dinner tonight?" Veronica softly asked her

"en, that's fine"

"oh really? yay~ okay then, see you later" she smiled. When Hui Yin walked away, Veronica sneered inwardly before she smiled as she walked back to her cubicle. Let's see if you'd still be walking confidently like that later~~
