8 What's the deal?

Lucien who was listening to Chanel effortlessly list out the rules and regulations of the organization could only involuntary gulp down as he stared at her with wide eyes.

'When was that rule there? Wait, I didn't completely read the protocols when I started this job'.

"Although there are still more that should be mentioned. But I believe this one should be more than enough" Chanel said as she looked at Lucien before looking back at Bruce.

"Yes, thank you, Chanel. That should be enough" Bruce said as he looked at Chanel with a smile before turning his attention back to Elijah.

"I hope that Mr. Lucien has heard everything that has been said"

Lucien nodded his head in response.

"Alright then. Now that you know that, I think that it will be easy for you to understand my intentions now. The kind of help that I will be offering you will be related to your rank" Bruce said as he pointed a finger at Lucien's uniform.

"As you know, a huntsman's rank is measured by his strength and that of his competence. A B-ranked huntsman with the strength of an A-ranked huntsman will remain a B-rank if he does not prove himself capable and proficient in using it. And only if he has shown that he is well qualified and skilled enough will he be granted a promotional exam that will help him advance to the next rank"

Turning his head to look at Chanel, Bruce said.

"Can you get me Mr. Lucien's files, Chanel? I want to know what kind of promotional exam he was given? Though I can guess that it is related to the mission that he was given yesterday"

"And since Mr. Lucien doesn't seem to remember what had happened yesterday night, it would be safe to assume that he doesn't also know the details of his mission. But just to confirm, could you please check?".

"No problem sir. I will be right back" Chanel nodded her head in understanding before she left the room to get the necessary files.

"Alright, Mr. Lucien. While Chanel goes to get your files, why don't we talk about our deal? Are you interested or not?".

"Alright. You already have me hooked, might as well hear what you have to say" Lucien said with a frustrated tone in his voice because, at this point, he doesn't want to lose his rank and go lower than he already is.

"Well, you see, even though I can't do anything about your promotion or your suspension, I can still make it so that you don't get denoted. But it is will cost you a very simple thing" Bruce responded.

"And what will that be?" Lucien replied.

"It will be something very simple. A favour".

"A favour!!" Lucien said with surprise clearly written on his face.

"Yes, a favour. A simple favour that I can use whenever I want to ask for something from you. But you will have to make sure that you keep your word no matter how little the favour I will ask of you will be" Bruce said with some seriousness in his voice.

Lucien didn't respond as he thought about it carefully before saying.

"Will it be about money?"

"No"

"Will it involve me teaching you how to handle 'Les belles femmes de Paris'?"

"No, of course not. Listen, Mr Lucien, I have no interest in your promiscuous life. And neither do I want to pick up any skills related to such from you" Bruce said with a frown.

"Huff!! I am kind of happy because the last time I applied as a pickup artist, I ended up sleeping with the client's target. So I tend to avoid any guy that wants me to teach him this sort of thing" Lucien said with an exasperated sigh as though he had just dodged a bullet.

"But still, I am kind of disappointed that you see my life as a bad influence".

"Wait! When did you become a pickup artist!? Ahh!! You know what forget that I ever asked that question. Anything you do with your life doesn't concern me as long as it doesn't affect the organization" Bruce said as he rubbed his forehead.

"So it's just a simple promise huh!!"

"Yes, it is. And all y…"

"HuH!!"

"You heard me right. I accept your proposal as long as I don't get demoted. Besides as long as you don't ask me for money or ask me how to teach you how to get women, then I don't have any problem with it" Lucien responded.

"But how are you going to make it so I don't get demoted?".

"Don't worry Mr. Lucien that will be an easy task for me. Although I can't change the rules of the organization, that doesn't mean I can't alter some things here. After all, I am the manager here, bending some little rules won't be a problem" Bruce replied.

"I know, we just made a deal remember! I am just curious about how you are going to do it".

"Well, if you are that curious, I guess there is no harm in telling you. But if what I am about to tell you gets out of this room, then you are on your Mr. Lucien"

Lucien nodded his head seriously ass he understood what Bruce was trying to say.

"I am not so stupid that I will go around blabbing my mouth across the streets, because this is something that directly affects me".

"Alright, if you say so. What I am going to do is to give you a new assistant. Someone that will serve as a replacement for your previous assistant. At first, I was thinking about giving you a new D-ranked personnel but handling someone like you will be a little too much for someone just starting in the organization. We don't want history repeating itself" Bruce said thoughtfully.

"So instead of doing that, I will just hand you over to a more experienced assistant"
