4 We are done

Seeing that Alice won't be here until sunrise, Lucien decided to take a little nap to recover back his lost energy.

"A little sleep won't hurt" Lucien said to himself as he slowly drifted into wonderland.

"Baanng!!"

The first sound Lucien heard before waking up was the loud sound beating against his eardrums that stirred him right awake immediately.

"Taking your time sleeping, are you? I thought that you already had enough time to do that last night" A feminine voice made its way to Lucien's ears as he woke up with hazing eyes.

Looking at the young woman with a short black blob hair pointing downwards, and dressed in a short dress and a grey coat with a high collar that stops at 23cm above the hem of the dress. Buttoned up with spaces remaining on her chest area.

"Good morning Alice" Lucien said as he with a smile.

But the only response he got was a frown spreading across her face with a chilling glare excluding from her eyes.

"What are you doing here?" Alice asked.

"What am I doing here?" Lucien repeated the same words as he pointed at himself with raised eyebrows.

"Yes, you. What are you doing here?"

"I am here for you".

"Hmph…Well, you shouldn't have come. Because I no longer have anything to do with you" Alice said with a thin smile while looking at Lucien.

"What do you mean? I don't understand" Lucien said as he looked at Alice confusingly.

"It means that I won't be working with you any longer. And soon, a new D-rank personnel will be assigned to you" Alice responded.

"What!! Why would you do that?" Lucien said in shock.

"Why? You seriously don't know why? You know what, Forget it".

"I know how you feel. But you should know that I will be getting promoted today, so you quitting on me now wouldn't be a good thing for your resume" Lucien said as he shook his head.

"I knew that you would try your best to stop me, that was why before I left yesterday, I went to the head office to drop off my resignation letter and apply for a new position"

"Hopefully, the next person that I would be in charge of will be much more competent than you"

"And for your promotion, who told you that you would be getting promoted today?" Alice laid her hands on her desk for support as she turned back to look at Lucien with a smirk adorning her face.

Hearing her words, Lucien's eyebrows scrunched up in confusion as he narrow his eyes at Alice.

"What do you mean? Weren't you the one that told me that I was eligible for a promotion?".

"Yes, of course, I said so, and I do remember my words very clearly. But unfortunately, you aren't eligible for that any longer" Seeing Lucien still looking at her in confusion, Alice continued.

"Don't look at me like that. By now you should know that if anything goes wrong, then it's always your fault. Don't you remember anything that happened yesterday night?".

"Sorry, my head is still a bit dizzy from last night. And I can't correctly remember what had happened?" Lucien said as he grabbed his face with his face while he shook his head.

"Haaa…You see, that is my problem with you, Lucien" Alice said with an exasperated sigh "How did you not remember the things that happened to you when you were on a mission ? Did you not remember doing anything stupid yesterday?".

"Well, there is something. Ahemm..." Lucien said as he cleared his throat in embarrassment.

Raising her eyebrows in suspicion, Alice said "And what is that ?"

"Well, I remember going to a brothel an…" But before Lucien could complete his sentence, he was immediately interrupted by Alice.

"I don't want to hear about your various achievements in a whorehouse. And neither do I want to know what you were doing there after your mission. Because from now on, that information no longer concerns me. So you can keep that to yourself" Alice said before she breathed out tiredly.

"But if you really don't know about it, then I guess that I will do you one last good gesture by telling you what it is" Looking at Lucien who was currently staring at her seriously, she continued.

"Do you have any encounter with a particular team of huntsmen yesterday evening?".

"I told you didn't I? I can hardly remember anything that happened yesterday night" Lucien said with a grumble.

"Well, you better try your best to remember. Because you will really be needing those memories now".

"Aren't you going to tell me why I won't be promoted"

"Well, yesterday a group of huntsmen reported that they encounter a fair-skinned man who seems to look like he is in his late 20s…" Alice said before she was interrupted by Lucien.

"Well, that could be anybody. So what does that have to do with me?".

"You didn't let me finish" Alice continued "With two peculiar weapons which he had abandoned".

"Now tell me, Lucien. Where are your weapons?" Alice asked as she glared at Lucien seriously.

Meanwhile, Lucien who had always felt like there was something amiss ever since he had woken up suddenly scrambled through his inner pockets only to find that his two weapons were missing.

"I guess the descriptions were right. It was you" Alice messaged her forehead in frustration as Lucien's actions had confirmed her suspicions.

"How did you forget one of the number one rules of a huntsman. No matter what, never let go of your weapon. But what you just did is something that is only expected from a novice huntsman"

"To be honest, I don't even know how you do it. How have you managed to get this far as a huntsman and not end up becoming a corpse?" Alice said with her face turning stiff as no expression could be found on them with only a blank stare piercing through Lucien's figure.

"But all that are none of my problems now. You can leave now Mr. Lucien. Have a good day".
