3 EXPLORING THE EARTH

I sat on my brand-new couch and sighed comfortably. I sat my empty bowl down on the coffee table in front of me, and sat back on the couch, staring blanky at the tv. I honestly had no idea what it was that was playing, but it was intriguing. It was a romance movie, that is for sure. I personally have never experienced those feelings myself because angels do not necessarily “fall in love” the way humans do. I would love to experience those feelings though. To experience finding your soul mate, would be an awesome experience. I doubt I would have the free time to do so though. One day I would, who knows.

I was sure a couple of hours have passed since I arrived, and now I am starting to get frustrated. The angel that was assigned to me was supposed to be here an hour ago. To discuss my first assignment but has yet to show up. I wanted to get some shut eye but felt like I needed to wait on said angel. ‘A few minutes of resting my eyes would not hurt.’ I thought to myself, sprawling out onto the couch. I closed my eyes for a moment, only planning to rest them for a few. Next thing I know, I fell asleep, letting the darkness consume me. No one told me that making that trip would make you this exhausted. My whole body felt weak, and my eye lids felt heavy like there was a brick or something sitting on them. It hurt a little too. Sitting here, trying to stay awake for someone who has yet to show up and is late, was proving to be an impossible task. I was sure the angel would wake me when they arrive.

I jolted awake after a loud crash sounded from the kitchen area. I quickly got to my feet, staring off into that direction. I glanced around me, seeing if there was anything I could use as a weapon, but spotted nothing. I shrugged my shoulders, and made my way to the kitchen, making sure to make no noise. I cracked open the doors, peeking inside. It was still dark outside and there were no lights on, so I was not able to see who it was, only a figure. I frowned as I stepped in quietly so the figure would not hear me. I stood there for a moment in silence, waiting to see if the figure was going to make a move or not. He just stood there like he was a statue. I got tired of waiting and charged at him, throwing my fist back and swinging it forward. When my fist was only a few inches away from the figure, a hand caught my wrist and flung me onto my back onto the countertop. “Ugh.” I gasped out, trying to catch my breath that I lost when my back contacted the counter.

“Well, well. Look who is ready for any intruders, even when they are asleep!” The figure spoke out, I could hear the smile in his voice. I frowned. He acted as if he knew me.

“Who are you? And what do you want?” I seethed out at him. He laughed at my tone, making me angrier.

“Hey now, don’t be rude! I am here for your assignments.” He spoke. The lights flipped on, revealing the figure that snuck into my house. I rolled my eyes at his dramatic ways.

“Did you have to pull your normal prank stunts Callan?” I asked. I was extremely annoyed, and I am sure he could hear it in my voice. He held his hands up, squinting his eyes a little when he smiled.

“Hey, the boss told us to do it. He wanted to make sure that you guys were prepared and ready.” He defended himself. I crossed my arms over my chest and rolled my eyes.

Of course, they would make them do that to us. If I had not been ready, I would not have let them send me, and they know that. I stared up at Callan, trying to pick up any kind of emotion that might play across those blue eyes of his. I could see why they assigned him to me. He is the “protector” of the princess. The thing is though, Callan use to have a thing for me. He would follow me around like A lost puppy declaring his love for me. I had watched his heartbreak several times after me turning him down. Of course, he is a little older than me, he made it into warrior status and that made it easier to put him away from me so that he could get over his undying feelings he had for me. As far as I know he got over them. If he did not, then he has become a pro at hiding them.

I tried to sit up, but Callan stopped me by pinning me down. He now had his legs on either side of me so that he was straddling me. He had his hands clasped in mine, pinning them to the counter so I could not move, and was staring down at me. I frowned at my current situation as I wiggled my arms and legs to get loose. His strong-toned body was just too much for me to try and get away from, and to overbearing to keep resisting. I quite fighting, accepting the fact that I was pinned to the counter, with him straddling me, and glared up at him. ‘I wonder if this is what the higher-ups wanted to?’ I thought, looking into his eyes. There was a mix of demand and possession in them that I had never seen before and it alarmed me drastically. ‘Why was that not there before? Did I miss something?’ I thought once again. I could feel that fear paralyzing me to the table, as those feelings started getting stronger through his eyes. His smile was even demanding. He lowered himself down so that his lips were right there at my ear, letting his hot breath blow against my exposed neck, as he whispered.

“You are mine. And I will, eventually, claim you. So be ready, my princess!” As those words hit my ears, I could feel myself shiver from delight and I had to bite my bottom lip to hold back a moan. ‘Why was I suddenly feeling this way? I was never attracted to him before!’ I thought, closing my eyes in attempt to calming myself down. Right now, I wanted nothing more but to get him off me and lock myself into my room before anything else could happen. No matter how much I try to get free, it does not work. I tried turning my head to be sure not feelings where being shown, but he put his hand gently on her cheek, pushing her head so that she was facing him once again.

“Why turn away? Why not just into those desirable feelings?” He whispered to me once again. I closed my eyes, clutching my hand against his shoulders. This is NOT what I wanted to needed right now. I calmed myself down, opening my eyes to look at him, and grinned. He frowned, confused by the sudden change of mood. I grasped his shoulders, bringing my left knee right into his groin. I watched as his face paled, and he fell over onto the floor with a loud thud. I rolled to my side, glancing down at the floor where he was laying. He was holding himself, with tears clearly visible in his eyes. I smiled, mentally patting myself on the back for my accomplishment. He was now laying on the ground, holding himself, in a fetal position. I stood up from the counter, putting my hands on my hips, still looking down at him.

“I believe we have work to do!” I spoke sarcastically.

At first, he didn’t make a move to look at me. I decided to wait a minute and give him some time to pass over the pain he was currently in. I personally thought that it was hilarious, but I would not say that out loud for him to hear with him hurting. I am glad that maybe he will learn his place though. He should have known by now that even if he might have hit some spots that I was going to turn him down. I knew in my head that he is not right for me.

“yeah, you are right. That, also, was a part of the higher-ups plan too.” He spoke coldly, as he stood trying to shake off the pain. By looking into his eyes, I could tell that he did not mean what he just said. I, still, said nothing. No need to compromise anything at this moment.

“Okay, so let's get started.” I spoke ecstatically, leaning back against the counter I had been laying on a few minutes ago. He nodded his head, crossing his arms over his chest.

“So, when do you go back?” I asked feverently. I was not trying to be hasty with my question, but I really wanted to know. He blinked a couple of times, stunned by her question, before gaining his composure once again.

“Actually, I am down until all of this is over. I am just not allowed to leave the house.” He spoke, shrugging his shoulders in the process. I closed my eyes for a moment to not become angry. I specifically requested to do this alone.

“Why? I told them I wanted to be alone on this!” I burst out angrily. He took a step back holding his hands up in defense.

“Yes, I am aware of that. I will not bother you while I am here. Every single one of you have an angel with you, just in case something happens.” He spoke quietly. I could sense that he was nervous behind those eyes of scrutiny, but I refused to comfort him.

“Fine. First mission?” I seethed out. He rolled his shoulders back to stretch, looking directly at me, as if he could see directly through me. I shivered from being under his gaze.

“Right, yeah. So, for the first mission, it is more of a fitting in mission. They want you to make friends, plenty of them, because they will be your eyes and ears. And he also wants you to get a job, to make it look like you are a normal human like the rest.” He spoke. His tone was so business like, that I felt my nerves becoming unsettled.

“I’ll go first thing in the morning to get started.” I spoke, walking off to my room.

I did not want to waste any more time conversating with him since I had a early start in the morning. Let's face it, he is worse than us women are when it comes to chatting. That includes gossip to. Other female angels and I found it more annoying than anything. I was more of the quiet type and never really got into the whole gossip rubbish. I would listen to others talk, but I would never respond or indulge in it with them. I had always felt that it was overly ignorant. I never bothered telling other my opinion on it because it would start unneeded drama that I did not want to be around. I always felt it to be a waste of time.

The next morning rolled around and the sun shined through my window, hitting me directly in the face. I groaned, covering my face with my hands. Why did their sun have to be so bright and why was there nothing there covering the window? I got frustrated with the sunlight, and desperately wanted it to go away. I sat up, rubbing my eyes as if poison had got in them. I clearly was not ready to get up, but the universe had other plans for me. Plans that I was despising at this current moment.

I threw my legs over the side of the bed, staring down at the floor as if it threatened me. I sat there for a moment, trying to wake up and collect my thoughts. I seriously was not ready for my day, but knew I needed to get it started. I stood, glancing down at my bed to debate if I wanted to make it or not. I rolled my eyes, deciding to walk away from it. I sure did not have the energy for all that today. I pushed my hand through my hair as I made my way to the bathroom. I started the shower and made my way over to the sink to brush my teeth and do my morning routine. Finally, I was able to make my way into the shower, groaning as the hot water hit my back. This is exactly what I needed, a nice hot shower. I stood under the water for a good five minutes before forcing myself to bathe and cut the water off. I stepped out and wrapped a towel around me and went into my room to get dressed.

I smoothed my cloths with my hands, taking one last glance in the mirror. I decided I looked decent enough, and walked from my room, and into the kitchen for coffee and breakfast. Callan sat at the counter, sipping at his own coffee and looking at, what I assumed, was a newspaper. I rolled my eyes, opening my fridge to see what I had to eat. When I didn’t see anything, I made my way over to the cabinet. I smiled when I spotted cereal, pulling it out to make myself a bowl. I could feel Callans eyes on me, watching me but I was sure to ignore him. I heard as he set the paper down and forced myself to pretend like he is not there.

“Good morning princess.” He spoke quietly. I sighed loudly, letting him know I was not really into talking.

“Yeah, morning.” I returned coldly, in hopes he would drop conversation.

“Are you ready for today?” He asked. Of course, I did not have the luck of this conversation dropping.

“Yeah, don’t really have a choice now do I?” I responded coldly once again. Maybe he would get the hint this time.

“Well, no. It will be worth it in the end though.” He spoke dramatically. I was now staring at him as if he done lost his mind. He does not seem to take hints very well when you act cold towards him.

I didn’t respond to him though. Instead, I quickly downed my cereal, and walked out of the home, pretending the conversation never took place. If I was going to get this day started to get it to end quickly, then I would have no time for conversation with him. I needed to be able to have a clear mind and think properly. With him talking to me, that would not happen. I did not want to be stressed out and I wanted everything to go smoothly.

The sun was now setting, and I had done been all over town applying for jobs giving them the phone number to my house, that had been given to me. I felt relieved having that done, and now I wanted to explore the earth a little before going back home to deal with Callan. Exploring sounded a whole lot more fun. With having that thought in my mind, I made a b-line for the woods. The breeze tonight is the perfect temperature, so I didn’t mind taking this little walk. I needed it anyways to clear my thoughts. This would be the perfect weather and time for it. I knew Callan would probably complain about her being gone this long but did not care.

I approached the tree line and stopped, glancing behind me at the small town. The tree line was on top of a hill, so I was able to see the whole lit up town and how it shimmered with the moon. At the other end, a layer of water lay on the outskirts of land. I assumed this is what they called an ocean and I could see why they loved it so much. It is beautiful. The bluish-green water sparkled underneath the moon as it reflected in it, and the waves hit the shore with such peace. I couldn’t help but to stand and watch, letting my soul feel at ease. Sure. I could not hear the waves as they hit the land but watching them is just as calming. I don’t see how people don’t come up here to sit personally, just to calm themselves. I sighed, turning back to the trees. As much as I wanted to stay here and watch the ocean, I also wanted to see what was inside the forest. Something was drawing me to them, and I wanted to see what it is. Curiosity got the best of me.

I slowly made my way through the trees, weaving in and out of them. Every step I took, I glanced around me. Everything was just so beautiful. All the trees, to the littlest of the flowers. Butterflies flew around, and birds slept in the trees. I could not help but to smile at the sight before me as I walked. Instead of paying attention to where I was walking, I watched above me not realizing I was not the only one out here. After I took a couple more steps, I collided into something rock hard, causing me to fall backwards, landing on my butt.

“Ouch! I'm sorr... “I started to speak until I looked at the person in front of me, or should I say man. He was tall and his chest was heavily built, almost making me drool. His brown hair lined his perfectly tan face, and his brown eyes seemed as If he could look through anyone. I know that it is rude to stare, but I just couldn’t help myself. The pull I had felt at the tree line was even stronger now. ‘So, this is what pulled me in here?’ I thought to myself. I could clearly see why. This man is gorgeous! I was pulled from my thoughts, as he stuck his hand out to me.

“Don't be. My name is Asmo, let me help you!” He spoke, smiling that gorgeous smile. I froze after placing my hand in his. I heard that name before... but where?? Then it hit me as I gasped loudly.

No way!! The prince of hell....
