Korbin's firm grip made the bottle of truth serum seem even heavier than it should have been. With every step Daphne took, the cold surface of the glass bottle slid against her skin, threatening to fall onto the floor. 

"She didn't do anything to you, did she?" 

Out of earshot, Korbin finally asked the question that had been bothering him ever since Daphne left with Meira. 

His eyes were slightly bloodshot, and they gleamed particularly bright under the dim lighting. 

"No, she didn't. She tried to ask me about myself, but that's about it." 

His gaze was unreadable. 

"Were you out there the entire time?" 

He shook his head no, explaining how it took a while to get away from the Grand Minister. 

Korbin must have thought that Daphne was briefly touched by his actions, but in reality, she was just worried that he had overheard their conversation.
