77 An Unlikely Alliance (1)

Daphne's heart thudded. If she went with Meira, she didn't know if she could return to the dinner table unscathed. The girl in front of her was virtually unreadable. 

"I think it's better if I go with her instead. It's you birthday celebration after all." Korbin suddenly stood up, walking toward Daphne until he stood behind her. 

His figure cast a long shadow over Daphne that stretched all the way until Meira. 

Without much other words, he began to help Daphne out from her seat, taking a napkin and wiping away a spot of the liquid from her cheeks. 

"Princess, let's go." He motioned for her to stand up. 

"Your Majesty, I know you're in love with your new consort, but there's no need for that. I can go help her get changed. You can enjoy your time with her any time of the day. It's much rarer for me to enjoy the opportunity."
