1 Prologue

The Earth shakes as the world tried to hold out from the outburst of powers.

Andromeda shook off the effects of the spell.

She cannot fall, will not accept defeat.

“My Lady, the citadel has fallen.” Leo, her general knelt in front of her. Her home, the Crystal Palace, has fallen under enemy hands. It can only mean one thing.

Her husband, her mate, her lover and king has fallen.

Andromeda bled as the knowledge almost brought her to her knees. She should have been there to support her husband but Silvus used his binding spell to prevent her from aiding her husband. She seethed in anger. The traitor has yet to be found but she vowed she will end it. Silvus will pay.

“My Lady?” Leo asked as he looked up from his kneeling position. His knights, the Illuvians, knelt with him as they gazed at their queen, the last ruling royal of Earth. They will continue to fight for her. They will even die for her.

Andromeda knew what her warriors were thinking. She felt instant pain at what she was about to do. Her hands rubbed on her protruding stomach. Her child will continue what she had failed to do, she will see to it. But first she must make sure this world will be safe from Silvus and his schemes.

He will not lay siege on the world that she and her king had built.

“I am ready.” She whispered to the heavens, knowing her beloved will see her soon.

“Leo, take care of my child. You must prepare her for what is to come. Silvus will not stop to get what he thinks is rightfully his. He must be stopped.”

“Yes, my lady. It will be done as you asked.” Leo replied.

Andromeda took a deep breath and waved her hand. The knights turned into wisps of light and entered the locket that hung on her neck.

“It is time.” She whispered.

Just then, the door burst open and in came a tall shadow. Silvus has come.

“You are so hard to capture, my queen.” His voice dripped with malicious intent and desire. He has always been envious of King Nadim. He coveted his kingdom, his power, his followers especially his queen. This attack was only a ruse to get the one thing he wanted which was the queen.

“Yes, it would seem so. You always wanted what you couldn’t have. What you will never have.” The queen’s voice hardened. This is for her people. She will end this for her child even if this would be the end of her.

“You can never run away from me, my queen. Even now, your soldiers have left their barricades. They have abandoned you.” Silvus insinuated as he inched forward. Of course, he would believe that. She had already sent her warriors ahead to prepare for her return. The world that seemed to be home a long time ago.

She feared that this world would not survive without her guidance but she had already thought of this beforehand. Hiding underground are a few of her handmaidens and their husbands. They will not be affected by her spell and they are equipped to defend themselves if there will be remnants of Silvus’ minions. Hopefully, none would be left.

She looked at the man who killed her beloved.

She will die today but she will take him with her.

She breathe deeply and held out her hand. Thinking that she was reaching out to him, Silvus stretched out his hand but was confused when he could not move.

Too late. From the tips of her fingers, energy crackled and enveloped the dark shadows. Silvus would have screamed but his mouth was sealed shut. The white light enveloped them and covered the whole room. It extended outward amidst the screams coming from the shadows. The whole planet became covered by the white light, its comforting warmth swallowing the enemies from the far reaches of the globe. Andromeda pushed, seeking all of the darkness and swallowing them whole in her brand of light. She prayed it will be enough.

Soon, the light died down and the room emptied of all life.

Arms sought to hold the queen as she fell.

Andromeda tried to pry her eyes open but the strength of the spell had zapped all of her energy. Her eyes finally opened and she gazed upon the brilliant morning sky, twin moons almost drifting ahead.

“You made it back, my daughter.”

Andromeda squinted and looked at her father. She tried to smile but then she doubled over in pain.

“Quick, get the medics here.” Her father called out frantically but it was too late.

She knew she was dying. But she needed one last push.

“Blessed be, my darling Auria. May you shine brightly like the sun.” Andromeda breathed as with her last strength, she birthed her daughter.

The shrill cry of the baby was followed by the loud wail of the king and the cries of those who witnessed the birth of his grandchild.

“Long live, Auria! Long live the queen!”
